Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"Disappointed I didnt watch this last night as love it when Jenas has a cry when things go against them. Had a look at an analysis ... Kane ahead of the ball ... CHECK Deflection wasnt a deliberate play of the ball so didnt reset Kane's offside status .... CHECK Correct call, end of story Cunte's reaction is way over the top and this abuse of referees is unacceptable. Should be a major fine and a season long stadium ban which requires him to report to a police station in Sunderland an hour before every Tottenham game before being released two hours after the game finishes."

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"It doesn’t matter which direction the ball is played. He isn’t behind the ball, albeit marginal. You’d be annoyed if it went against you but we’ve all had close calls go against us. IIf used correctly, its one of the few VAR calls that is black or white. So their wiggy manager made a bit of an idiot of himself just because his pride was hurt after his wild over-celebration. As for Jenas, hilarious. Thought he was going to cry. If thats up the other end, he’s demanding it gets disallowed. Worst co-commentator in this business alongside Hinchcliffe."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Isn't the rule that if the ball is played from beyond the last man (essentially meaning the offside trap has already been beaten) then the player receiving it can't be offside. If the ball is played and there is still a defender nearer the goal than the place from where the ball is played then the standard offside stipulations apply. Nothing to do with it being played backwards or not.

"Well that was funny since it was that lot, but fuck me what a load of shit VAR is. Was it offside? Wouldn't have a clue, and I highly doubt anyone does, same as the handball rule. Load of old shit."

"I also thought a player couldn't be offside if the ball was played backwards, however nowhere in the laws of the game is this stipulated: https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-11---offside 99% of the time a ball played backwards will be to someone who is behind the ball, but not in this case. As far as I can see the decision was correct, albeit an extremely tight call."

"Pedro Incorrect, if the player receiving the ball is in front when the pass is made, he is offside, regardless of deflection."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
In Portugal so watching watching with the Lisbon fans. Very funny but that is a shocking decision. Can’t be offside if ball goes backwards. Offside rule since 1257!

I had a few quid on them when they went behind. There’s not many better ways to lose a bet.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Cunte is a horrible character Loved seeing him racing down the line celebrating only for a VAR and a red card for him. even if the goal being cancelled costs me a decision win on over 2.5 goals
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
Just nearly woke the kids up shouting with joy at that VAR decision. You love to see it. I don’t like to take pleasure from other peoples sorrow but when it’s Spurs that sentiment goes out the window.

"Haha, another excellent night for VAR in Haringey. Shocking, yet outstanding intervention."

Just seen the challenge by Lerma on Shamacca. Not really sure why VAR didn’t intervene on that one?

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
I would suggest that pre-VAR no-one would be talking about the Kehrer handball either. The whole ball brushing the arm scenario was something invented alongside the VAR implementation for whatever reason. Understandable that opposition fans might be complaining but any volleyball comarisons are a nonsensical exaggeration of what happened.

Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"the rule isn't great, but i don't think its particularly unclear. Our first goal was handball. By any measure or any definition of the rule. That VAR cannot intervene because of PHASES is a broad irrelevance - if the referee does his job and blows immediately for the obvious handball, no one is talking about it. It was just a poor refereeing decision. We'll take it, just as we have with all the others this season. Let's just not whine when some go against us."
Re: VAR - What is it good for?
"VAR wasn’t the problem here. The handball rule is the problem. For the first goal, the hand was against his body, but he moved his arm and put the ball back in play as if he was playing volleyball. We obviously gained from the handball, and the rules should make it clear. For the penalty, that is handball all day long. He had his hands in the air and they gained the advantage. You just can’t put your arms in the air like that and expect not to give away a penalty. Lerma was also lucky to be on the pitch after his lunging, studs up challenge. VAR didn’t look at that, and no one is talking about it. But it goes against the narrative."

"As I said yesterday and prior to that, the handball law is a total abomination now, it appears that no one knows what the fuck is going on, it's just pot luck if your side get a pen or get away with a pen. Zero consistency."
