The best players and managers want to play in the best competitions. They also want money. The most aspirational will end up in the top clubs. We remain just outside that but are getting a bit closer. Credit to everyone who got us here!

I think past managerial hirings have been down to our standing within the game at the time. Previously we got around this by keeping things relatively 'in-house' now we are firmly looking outside which has often been difficult for us to get our preferred choice. Believe it or not I think this is where Moyes has done us a big favour as now the more upcoming managers can see the potential managing West Ham has and now it is actually a good project to take on. It will be difficult but I think many of the more ambitious managers out there will prefer the rebuild and the fact there is space in the squad to rebuild and quite a decent youth team to tap into. As long as they get assurances they will be backed which Steidten will now be able to assure them of as that is surely why he is there.

Although there is always a number of variables at play ( budget / spend, squad inherited ) but Loptegui does not seem to build anything that lasts at least from his stats. Sporting coach, Fonseca seem to be about making youth a foundation of squad building and for that reason alone its appealing. I would also not be overly upset if Gary O’Wall got the gig. Impressive work at Bournemouth and Wolves with a new, possession based approach implemented. I suppose we dont know if he can take a team from mid table to top 6 but definitely think he would improve us and at Wolves has shown he is not afraid of bringing thru youngsters. I guess he may not be the sexy foreign coach but he’s shown already he can improve 2 squads"

Need to move very quickly - if you look at our squad it's frightening how high the turnover of players needs to be for next season (Ten plus) If we do our usual club dither over manager and transfers it will be a very tough season next year

For a start he's not out of work and his stock is very high right now so IMO at a minimum he would want a club that at least is in Europe next season. Has to listen and work with new partners. Who definitely want a return on their investment. A less taxing deal with the LDCC. And a new wife. Who he would I imagine like too spend more time with.?
