Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Everything points to a battering tomorrow. Bisen and Alvarez are so key to our team and we have no one close to their ability in the squad for their positions. Soucek and JWP will struggle to get many touches on the ball I suspect. Paqueta has to play centrally and in a deeper defensive role as he is good at winning the ball. Johnson and Emerson will need to play more advanced especially Emerson Anything less than a 2 goal deficit will be a stunning result but we just let too many in these days.

"Apparently Bowen has a hip injury, similar to the type experienced by fast bowlers (according to Moyesinho)"

"Update from Moyes press conference ""Kalvin Phillips has picked up a problem and will be missing tomorrow. ""It looks like he's tweaked his hamstring a bit, but we don't think it's a long-term problem. ""Alphonse Areola isn't here."" The boss is asked about Jarrod Bowen: ""Jarrod isn't with us, he's twisted his knee and there's some sort of damage. ""We can't give any dates of when he might be back, unfortunately. ""He's an England international and we know how important he is to our team, so he'll be a miss for sure. But we have good players who can come in, so we'll stay positive."" Updated: 2 hours ago"

Surely he must see Paqueta goes best in the middle?
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
6 @ the back from Moyes.. A big loss coming our way unfortunately. He will not be able to cope with this lots modern approach to the game of football.

I can't see kalvin Phillips playing a part personally. But if he does and we win what a story that would be
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Roma knocked them out last year 1-0 at home then 0-0 at the Bayer arena playing a 3-5-2 and having 28% possession. Can Moyes do a Mourhino?
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Ludo id rip your arm off for 1-0 Manuel - they've scored twice in 35 out of their 41 unbeaten games. I don't see how we stop that with 5 at the back penned in our own half When we do get the ball Bowen and Kudus get us up the pitch, without Bowen who is going to help Mo do that? Thats if the ball gets to them with JWP and Soucek in the middle who can just about hit a 10 yard forward pass between them Arsenal we were extremeley lucky, Burnley we were shit and done a smash and gab. That type of football isn't sustainable and you get found out eventually, funnily enough at home one battered us and the other we were 2-0 down to playing shit. I reckon they score 2, i don't back Moyes without Alvarez and Bowen to even score one to be honest. He can't set up a team to get a result, theres no tactics, no plan B and he'll shit himself away from home against someone decent as per usual. Hope I am wrong but we'll see tomorrow night ay. If you think we will get a result what's the reasoning behind it with the team we'll likely put out?"
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"I can see a back 4, with JWP & Kalvin-Phillips holding with soucek in a (very slightly) more advanced role Paqueta wide left & Kudos back on the right side (which is actually where he has always looked the most dangerous) The big Micky up top trying to hold the ball up for us Moyes to absolute shithouse the most boring smash and grab result you will have ever seen"

Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Rossal - You're talking such bollocks it doesn't even deserve a reply. Who has c&b specks on? Your logic is we lost to Freiburg without Bownen and Alvarez so therefore we simply have no chance here. Are you even serious? if you really believe that is how football always works then you're an idiot. Going by your ''simple'' logic if we lost to Burnley, we'd then have no chance against Arsenal the week after."
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"How did we beat Arsenal 0-2 without Paqueta then? A lot of luck I grant you but, as I alluded to below, I think a 0-1 win would be disastrous as we would just play 10 men behind the ball in the second leg and get picked off.... time will tell!"
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Personally I would be happy with a 1-0 loss or even 2-0... any bigger than that and the writing is on the wall. At least if we are behind then Moyes can't play too defensively in the second leg and he will have no option other than to play on the front foot. 2-0 sounds a lot but get the first goal and with a cracking atmosphere I think they may be rattled.... long way to go before then though!!
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Its not a daft assumption at all, its just simple logic We struggle to break teams down and we didnt beat a team far worse than them away with the 2 players mentioned So if someone can tell me how we will beat a team 41 unbeaten who score reguarly at home without our main defensive midfielder and ball carrier i'd love to hear it Not to mention a midfield with JWP and Soucek in it Really hope i am wrong but we're 6/1 for a reason taking the claret and blue specs off Moyes will do his usual, go there to not lose and probs get done 2 or 3 nil"

Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Ludo - Yep, bang on, was a daft assumption to make. At least when this starts we can all stop the guessing. All I'll say is I doubt anything will be decided tomorrow and with the away goal rule now scrapped makes that even more likely. A draw would be a good result, but we would still have a big job on to beat them next week. We're defo the underdogs here."
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Rossal - surely you have watched enough football to know that there is often no rhyme nor reason to how a match unfolds and one result doesn't lead on to another... be no point watching any of it if it did!
