Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
The annoying thing is that they are so far ahead in the Bundesliga that they can afford to chuck everything at us. If their lead had been 2/3 points then they might have rested a few but the fact is Bayern have been fucking awful. I hold out hope that we might come back to London with the tie still in the balance but that's more heart than head.
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
‘ yes they are top of the German league but the Premiership is a much better league’ I thought the same until the Arsenal Bayern game. I’m going for a turgid 0-0
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Kudus double and a Paqueta screamer incoming in a 1 - 3 West Ham win!
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"kylay - we are certainly well drilled in defensive tactics, but a shame we're no good at it."
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"I’m a bit optimistic about tonight, yes they are top of the German league but the Premiership is a much better league, if we go out there and have ago at them instead of sitting back we might stand a chance, we sat back against the likes of Burnley, Forest and Bournemouth which clearly didn’t work. We have probably the best first 11 we have had in years and they are held back by dinosaur Dave’s defeated tactics."

Getting back to London with only a 1 goal deficit would be more than acceptable.
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Going defensive and playing on the counter might not be the worst strategy in this one. Leverkeusen are heavy favorites, and getting back to London with even a draw would be a boost, I'd think. It might not be pretty, but we're certainly well drilled on it."

"Have we all stopped slating Moyes for the day and predicting doom and gloom, but instead have all got a nice feeling based on nothing. Dear o' dear. I take it normal service will resume soon enough, you fickle lot."

"""We're absolutely shit with 3/5 at the back"" I agree, but it's difficult to imagine that he'll do anything other than that considering he hates anyone outside of his twelve/thirteen favourites. I fucking hate five at the back under the cսnt, redknapp used in a completely different way"

Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I wouldn't be surprised if we get a result out there it's the sort of thing we do when we're not given a chance. Even an odd goal loss won't be disastrous. Nobody gave us a chance at Arsenal or Tottenham I've just got this weird feeling. Do I need to have a lie down?
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"We need pace to replace Bowen, Kudus on the right and Cornet left of Antonio gives us a chance to work behind them, but Moyse will be more slow and defensive I am sure."

"I've got nothing to add to this thread, no line-up, substitutes or tactics. I'm just registering the fact that I am shitting myself about tonight and REALLY wish I was there."

We're absolutely shit with 3/5 at the back. Do people forget this?
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Iron Duke - agree with that lineup. Not too bothered about the choice between Coufal and Johnson. I hope he goes for Aguerd over Cresswell. I know he's got a tickets in him but so has Cresswell. I know which one I would prefer to see in a last defender situation - Aguerd has way more pace and can tackle. Can also pick a pass and will be a threat at set pieces. Would love to see how Leverkusen cope with defending corners against Antonio, Soucek, Zouma, Mavro and Aguerd. If we're going to score tonight it's most likely to be from a set piece, unless Kudus comes up with another worldie."
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Massive, massive game. Have a feeling they will get an early goal and we just about hold out conceding another one despite heavy pressure. Then late on JWP has a free kick that finally beats the wall and ends up in the back of their net with them feeling absolutely robbed. Can only hope anyway, come on you irons!"
Re: ‚ö? Leverkusen v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Without Bowen, we are likely to go with three at the back with wing backs. We will have very little possession and no options on the bench. I would start with: Fabianski Mavros Zouma Aguerd Johnson Emerson Ward-Prowse Soucek Paqueta Kudus Antionio I think Moyes will start with Coufal and Cresswell instead of Johnson and Aguerd."
