"Swiss. 3:18 Tue Nov 23 I really do hate being a pendant but for people on here who would like to have a Google up on an incredible WW1 story, possibly one of the very best war stories ever told it's Vimy ridge."

SurfaceAgentX2Zero 11:35 Tue Nov 23 Well spotted. Pretty much anyone other than historians - and certainly not those in 'the arts' - have simply never been able to get over the simplistic 'lions led by donkeys' narrative that took root after post-war disillusionment. It's a great disservice to those who fought and died.

"Watching 'Invasion' - an Apple TV series. Ok and quite intriguing bu,t as always, they seem to love padding these series out a bit when it could get to the point a lot quicker. Have to keep watching now though as its hard to fathom the outcome."

"There's a new Amazon series ""The Wheel of Time"" which is absolute shite. It's not the new GOT. for sure. I actually read the books as a teenager and I don't seem to remember them being this bad. Generally I don't quite understand Amazon and their attempt to rival Netflix as a streaming entertainment option. I mean this so low budget and it's like SiFy channel. Why they'vre got the dosh surely."

"I never watch ITV as the ads get on my tits, but now you can pay £3 a month and get it ad free. So I watched Fearless, starring the late, great Helen McCrory. Very good it is too."

"Even though I've read the book and watched the Daniel Craig film, I thought the Swedish version of Girl with a Dragon Tatoo, on BBC I player was excellent."

"Just started watching ""the lost symbol"" on Sky, which is based on the Dan Brown book. Bit shit, to be honest. Doesn't feel the same not having Hanks playing Langdon. Easy watching though."

"Just watched that Our World War. Pretty good and quite accurate as to the facts. But what horrible little BBC Remoaner cսnt added the caption at the end that said, 'Mons was a humiliation for the British'? It was so far from being a humiliation that it is regarded as a victory for the British (or at least a draw) by most historians on both sides. The BEF achieved its objective (to prevent the French being quickly surrounded and annihilated) against insurmountable opposition and retreated in good order. They were only forced to withdraw by the collapse of the Cheese-Eaters on their right flank. Far from being humiliated, the BEF's performance that day was a huge boost to its morale."

"Alfs 7:30 Thu Nov 18 ""Trundle, what platform do you watch Yellowstone on? I do love a Western."" It's on a dodgy download. I don't think they've shown series 3 or 4 in the UK."

"Swiss. 4:57 Mon Nov 22 Fucking hell mate I'll be all over that once I am finished with Dopesick, which is about the absolute cսnt Richard Sackler is and his incredibly mad story about inventing and promoting Oxycontin, a drug I have to take for my systemic Arthritis, covid and a road traffic accident."

jfk 9:54 Sun Nov 21 Agreed thought that was brilliant viewing. The one where our professional troops meet the German conscripts for the first time at Mons was captivating. Totally authetic. What a hero that Captain....shot 3 times and still manning the machine gun.

"Gomorrah the TV series. Bleak but totally compulsive Naples mafia series. Input from Roberto Saviano, young journo, who’s still in hiding after exposing the Neopolitan mob. Bit like the Wire but like Sopranos Can’t recommend enough."
Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls
"Our World War on bbc iplayer. A factual drama series of three, hour long episodes based on ww1 names unchanged, best thing I’ve watched for years.essential viewing."
