"Scorch, that's spot on. If they were just caricatures of evil rich bastards it'd still be funny but would lose its dramatic edge. Not started s3 yet but for me the first two are up there with the best series ever made. The writer/creator Jesse Armstrong has a great track record - Peep Show, The Thick of it, 4 Lions, In the Loop, etc."

It's absolute class. I love how they keep messing with your sympathy or otherwise toward each character- particularly the siblings. All despicable in most ways but each occasionally inviting quite a lot of empathy despite always motivated by greed or pursuit of recognition. The interplay and ever changing dynamic between them is very well done. Logan is the only constant.

"Irons10 - Yea I know what you mean, you can easily forget a lot if there's been a long gap. Another option is to find a review online to read from the last episode."

Sydney the link worked for me using a VPN. I started episode 1 but there was no recap and it just followed on from season 4 so I'll rewatch the last episode from season 4 first before I continue. Cheers

"Watched the first 2 episodes of season 5 of Gomorrah, just really picks up from where season 4 finishes and introduces a few new characters plus bumping off a few others! Was enjoying it until the last few mins in the first episode, and that ending is then confirmed by the opening scenes of episode 2, without giving it away its a bad move from those who made it IMO and is detrimental to the series, let sleeping dogs lie and all that..... Time will tell"

"Not sure if its mentioned (not trawling through the thread) but season 5 of Gomorrah is out, haven't seen it yet but if its even half as good as the first 4 seasons it will be well worth watching, this will be the last in the series from what i read. Also if you have not seen it the spin off movie ""The Immortal"" its well worth a view."

"Border Town on Netflix is very good, just 3 episodes in each series, so no padding. A Finnish detective moves from Helsinki to a small town on the Russian border"

"each of the characters are so strong, even ones that at first I thought were just fillers like Cousin Greg who I now think is brilliant. Keiran Culkin absolutely kills it, in a great way, who would have thought that he would put his big brother in the shadow after being the most famous child star in the world. His character is repulsive, funny, sneaky, underhand and just plain incredible."

"Succession is first class, well worth investing the time in to watching that. My dad had recommended it for ages and I finally succumbed to watching it about a month ago and ploughed through all of the first two seasons and been watching the 3rd as it drops each week. Brilliant viewing, well acted with brilliant characters."

"Just ploughed through the last series of Bosch. Brilliant as usual and can't wait for the next series where he becomes a PI, especially as it would appear the same crew (writers, directors etc.) are involved so should maintain it's high quality. Also just finished the last series of What We Do In The Shadows. Fucking great that they're making another series. Am struggling a bit with Stath Let's Flats, seems like a bit of a one trick pony, to me at least. Hope it improves or I'll sack it off. I've heard Succession is good (?) so will probably give that a go next."

"Regarding Mons... The battle was a strategic victory for Germany, as the British stand at Mons slowed, but did not stop, the advance of the German army into France. The British suffered some 1,600 casualties, with losses concentrated especially in those units which occupied the canal salient. As many as 5,000 Germans were killed or wounded in the one-day engagement. These totals were comparable to 19th-century battles between European powers, such as those that occurred during the Crimean War (1853–56) or the Franco-German War (1870–71), and gave little indication of the bloodshed that would become commonplace on the Western Front. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Battle-of-Mons-1914 Oh and very good series that Our World War After reading the book rewatched the other night the SAS Rogue Warriors series... superb book great viewing... will be interesting to see if the new series will do the book justice... https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2021/sas-rogue-heroes-first-look/"

...and for anyone remotely interested in military history it's easily one of the most magnificent war memorials in the world and the Canadian Army still posted there would love nothing better than you to try and deface it. You would have more holes in you than a Swiss cheese.
