Nurse Ratched 4:27 Wed Aug 24 Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls I've now finished series 3 of True Detective. I thought it was the best one so far. We watched the first 3 episodes of series one last night and found it very good... Thanks for the heads up yet again on this thread.

She was never going to be anything near what you usually got down the Ritzy and I was never going to play the long game at the age I was.....so it was very much passing ships....so she basically had her head screwed on even then.

"Well at least you gave it a go, Side. Finished Marriage, really good TV I thought, and while it was bleak and awkward in parts, they actually seemed to spend most of the time enjoying life and each other. Only thing is it didn't really go anywhere, build up to anything, but I suppose it wasn't meant to or it would then have just become like everything else on the box."

"We've just finished ""Angela Black"" on ITV Hub 6 episodes not brilliant but worth a watch. Couldn't find it on KODI so had to put up with the adverts."

"I really enjoyed the marriage, every drama doesn't have to be about murders in Oxford/Cambridge/Shetland Islands/ kidnappings, rapes etc, etc. I think if you're married with grown up kids you could relate to it, more than say, someone in their 20's. Maybe it was saying that there are absolute cunts in the world like the boss and the boyfriend but a strong marriage has seen them weather real tragedy and pull through. I also liked the way they portrayed that younger people and older people sometimes have problems communicating, the staff at the leisure club thought Sean Bean was weird but he maybe thought he was being friendly. Overall a thought provoking drama, back to 'reality' tonight with DCI Perez solving yet another murder in Shetland."

"Watched ‘House of the Dragon’ despite a bit too much CGI, I was very impressed. Always loved Paddy Considine as an actor and thought he played his part well. Hopefully it will overshadow the piss poor writing of Game of Thrones Season 8!"

"Finished it last night. I did quite like the 'Nothing happens' vibe. It's literally just snapshots of life and there's not really a payoff or a storyline/resolution for anything. Interesting way of doing television. On another note, anyone see House of the Dragon last night? Hopeful it can restore my faith in the Game of Thrones franchise after the debacle of how that went in the last two seasons."

"Re: Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls ted fenton 11:37 We watched 30 mins of episode 1 and gave up. From the same writers as Mum (which was brilliant) and it's much the same, but without the funny bits. Shame really, as Nicola Walker and Sean Bean are both very good actors - the thing where he was in prison with Stephen Graham was probably one of the best things he's done (Time)"

"ted fenton 11:37 I keep expecting some sort of massive revelation to happen, like he's beating the shit out of her secretly or something. Thought it was leading up to that but I don't think so now. I think it's just going to be sort of mundane like a fly on the wall doc with nothing really happening in terms of an overall narrative. Sort of weirdly compelling though. They've really nailed down the cringe and banal small talk. I'm curious as to whether they are ad libbing most of it, because it feels like it."
