NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Will Frank Reich want to be reunited with Wentz? Apparently they were very close when he was the Eagles OC.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"""I honestly think that if Bieniemy was white and failed to impress at interviews, he would still have been given a chance""ù That was probably true once upon a time but is almost certainly not the case now. There is much more to gain for an owner from hiring a black coach rather than a white one as there is for almost all employers in almost all occupations, especially the high profile ones. The social cache is considerably different. The only slight caveat is that it is probably harder to sack a black coach than a white one because if you sack a white coach then you've sacked a coach. If you sack a black coach, then you've sacked a black coach. The scrutiny would be much bigger under the second scenario and may possibly feed into the recruitment process. Maybe Bienemy doesn't impress in interviews and it is as simple as that. I'm sure it also doesn't help that most people think that Reid would have a phenomenal offence without him, but would he look so good without Reid? All that conjecture aside, I would still like to see him given a chance to lead the Eagles because I think he is worth the punt and I love watching KC move down the pitch."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I wanted Bieniemy as HC at the Jets, ahead of Saleh. I've got a feeling that, despite all the concerns about whether he's a product of Reid or whether Reid is better off for having him, he would improve most offenses in the NFL. Somebody should take the risk with Bieniemy. Given how many utterly shite white blokes have been given chances as head coaches in the NFL, it does seem a bit weird that EB has not had a sniff yet. I honestly think that if Bieniemy was white and failed to impress at interviews, he would still have been given a chance. I can't, for example, believe that he interviews any worse than Adam Gase does - and that fraud landed two plum NFL head coaching jobs. On another note, I'm breathing a little easier about Saleh at the Jets now that he's officially appointed his offensive team. He's managed to talk not just Mike LaFleur into joining him from the 49ers as OC, but he's brought the 49ers well-regarded offensive line coach, John Benton, with him as well (which was not expected, so is a bit of a minor coup for us). Those two appointments should be significant upgrades on the offensive coaches we've had for the past two years. Now, I'd say our coaching team looks a lot stronger. Fair play to Saleh for managing to convince strong coaches with nice jobs to up sticks and shift across the country to the insanity of Gotham."

He knows that as well. I think I read him saying that the worst thing that can happen to him is that he wakes up next season being the OC for the Chiefs.

"I agree, EB is the other good fit for your team. I've heard he's not a great in interviews but that shouldn't be putting off teams. he's always come across well in press conferences, so hopefully someone takes a chance with him. he can't lose though, if he has to remain one of reid's main men"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I would prefer Eric Bieniemy. It isn't so much that McDaniels failed previously but how and why he failed. From the sounds of it he failed because he rubbed everyone up the wrong way. Like it or not, a lot of those NFL players have he emotional age of a spoilt teenager and you will struggle to get them onside by barking at them and demanding they respect you just because you were Belichick's wing man. I also don't think that the Patriots offence is that inspiring. They have impressive records for points scored but how much did they benefit from a defence consistently giving them short fields, as well as 6 divisional games every year against poor defences. Bienemy seems to get the players on side and is part of a devastating offense. The downside of course is that Andy Reid is the man mainly responsible for that so it is a case of how much Bienemy has learnt."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Lots of Bellichick coaches have won multiple Super Bowls and most of the ones who have gone on to be Head Coaches have had a pretty poor time of it. Including McDaniels at Denver. They are interviewing multiple candidates and remain an attractive proposition. If McDaniels gets appointed it will be because the Eagles want him, not because they didn't have a choice."

Josh McDaniels is favourite for the Eagles HC job. Not a particularly exciting appointment.

*mob* I've seen us throw picks at getting a QB before and it was a great decision until ngata's helmet connected with his knee and it was career over

"I think miami & my job are more ready for him but we have very little to offer in terms of draft position, so we're a no go. yes it's a lot to give up for him, and I'd stick with darnold if lawrence goes at 1. wilson's great but is he an instant upgrade from darnold? I doubt it, and you can fix other areas with those first round picks"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Realistically, there are only three or four sides that can afford Watson at the sort of price people are talking about (a starting point of two first-rounders and at least one Day 2 pick, more likely two Day 2 picks, plus the huge salary hit). Washington is one of them. Jets have the picks and quite a bit of cap space, but I'd be surprised if the owners/GM have the balls. It's possible that his asking price will be two first-rounders, a third-rounder, fourth-rounder and scattered lower rounds, plus the deal which made him the second-highest paid player in NFL history. That's pretty much going all-in on one fella."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I like Deshaun a lot - and think we should have drafted him in 2017 when we passed on him for Jamal Adams (look how that turned out). But I also think his price now is too high. We have the worst roster in the NFL and we need every high pick we currently own, to help rebuild the franchise from the bottom up. He's a fine QB, and most sides should jump at the chance of landing him. But we should stick with Darnold and supply him with some protection and some weapons. He's never had them. If we spent the asking price on Deshaun, we'd have neither the picks to provide him with offensive weapons, or the necessary cap room to build a better squad. Watson would also get frustrated in New York, because it's going to take a couple of years to build a decent side - and he's more than good enough to go to a 'win now' franchise. Personally, would love to have him at the Jets. But not sure it would be good for him or the franchise."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"looks like the situation in texas isn't improving and the jets could be the new favourite in a trade for him. makes sense as they have a young QB they could send the other way, and a couple of first round picks this year. bastards :.)"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Should add i think his contract was up. And contracts in the nfl are a bit different with only so much money generally guaranteed and the rest of it if you stay there for the duration or play. Always confused me.
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"New england would still have been shit with brady as the rest of the team are currently wank and they didn't have a choice, as Brady wanted to leave to join a team where his ideas would be used, as basically belichek and the other coaches ignored his input. Not like footie, players can generally fuck off when they want as franchises realise its pointless keeping someone who doesn't want to be there."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Absolute amateur at this NFL, so are New England kicking themselves for allowing Brady to leave, and if he hadn't gone to the Buccs would they have made it to the semifinal."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Went to bed early in third quarter of the Saints/Bucks game - and watched the rest of it this morning. That first half showed two ageing legends in decline. Second half was very different. Both have been phenomenal players, both still good QBs (incredible for their ages). But both now obviously on the tail compared to past capacity. Even Brady was failing to spot open receivers in the first half. Shame he never did that during the twenty years when he tortured us! Brady has enough in his legs for two more games. I don't doubt that. But it will be time after this season. It is for Brees, too, who deserves to go out on a gold throne for what he's done in Norlans."
