NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Really odd hire for the Eagles. Siriani is a hard worker but, irrespective of his talent, it looks like they've hired somebody who could have done with a couple more years' worth of experience. I'm sure he's good at the Xs and Os, but he's going to need a lot more savvy on top if he's going to survive as a HC in Philly. I don't really understand this modern phenomenon of franchises giving undue weight to recommendations from 'names'. The Jets gave Gase another shot (after Miami) once Manning gave his mate a good reference. Others, too. Now it looks like Frank Reich (ex-Philly OC) gave Siriani an unsurprisingly good reference. Do any of these teams actually go through a robust recruitment process any more? GM: Welcome to Philly, Nick. NS: Thanks. GM: Ha, ha, ha! You've got a great sense of humour. NS: What? GM: Says here that Frank Reich speaks highly of you. NS: It says that now. [Puts pen away] GM: Well, Frank's a good old Philly boy. The job's yours. NS: Huh? Aren't you going to ask me about Xs and Os? Management style? How I'm going to deal with the defense, having been an OC the whole time? GM: Nope. No need. If good old Frank says you're a diamond, then you're a diamond. Welcome to Philadelphia, head coach..."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Certainly going to be an interesting few months with lots of QB's seemingly leaving clubs and the retirements. Think its a fairly poor set of QB's in the NFL at the moment with the odd exception compared to years gone by, though understandle considering the hall of fame legends who have retired in the past few years. Interesting to see if we take the plunge ourselves, as I don't mind Jimmy G, but he does make too many poor decisions and is made of plastic."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"Yeah, the Cowboys are definitely seen as the NFL's Man Utd. That whole self-defined ""America's Team"" thing cheeses folk off. But that should not detract from what Norf's brother is doing over the Pond. He's ripping it up. On another note, I am a bit worried that Quinn and that defensive group will now make the Cowgirls a lot more competitive."
Re: NFL (since 2016)
"The only time I liked the Cowboys was when old school Tom Landry was their HC, ever since they got their current owner Jerry Jones, I fucking hate them Norf, congratulations mate, well done for your boy PS: the Cowboys still fucking suck :-)"
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Congratulations and Good Luck to your brother Norf. You can be rightly proud of him. onwards and upwards..........

"Norf, Congratulations to your brother, man! That's a great job to land, even if it is at the Cowgirls. He's ripping it up over there. I imagine Dan Quinn is a good guy to work for. Seems level headed, even if that was sometimes a problem for him in Atlanta. He's a damn fine DC, too, so imagine his/your brother's unit will improve the Girls."

"Phenomenal news Norf, although the Cowgirls though... There are only two things every Eagles fan agrees on. Brian Dawkins is a legend, and the Cowboys suck. Pretty impressive for anyone though let alone an Englishman."

"Good start to a coaching career too. Doug Pederson did the same when he retired and was an NFL Head Coach a decade later. Also, Rivers has a hundred kids so it is a good way of spending more time with them"

Re: NFL (since 2016)
I love that Rivers is going to go and coach high school football. Top man. Not a bad quarterback either. But who would have thought Rapelisberger would be the last man standing from the big three in 2004? Don't think he's got long though.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Will Frank Reich want to be reunited with Wentz? Apparently they were very close when he was the Eagles OC.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"""I honestly think that if Bieniemy was white and failed to impress at interviews, he would still have been given a chance""ù That was probably true once upon a time but is almost certainly not the case now. There is much more to gain for an owner from hiring a black coach rather than a white one as there is for almost all employers in almost all occupations, especially the high profile ones. The social cache is considerably different. The only slight caveat is that it is probably harder to sack a black coach than a white one because if you sack a white coach then you've sacked a coach. If you sack a black coach, then you've sacked a black coach. The scrutiny would be much bigger under the second scenario and may possibly feed into the recruitment process. Maybe Bienemy doesn't impress in interviews and it is as simple as that. I'm sure it also doesn't help that most people think that Reid would have a phenomenal offence without him, but would he look so good without Reid? All that conjecture aside, I would still like to see him given a chance to lead the Eagles because I think he is worth the punt and I love watching KC move down the pitch."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"I wanted Bieniemy as HC at the Jets, ahead of Saleh. I've got a feeling that, despite all the concerns about whether he's a product of Reid or whether Reid is better off for having him, he would improve most offenses in the NFL. Somebody should take the risk with Bieniemy. Given how many utterly shite white blokes have been given chances as head coaches in the NFL, it does seem a bit weird that EB has not had a sniff yet. I honestly think that if Bieniemy was white and failed to impress at interviews, he would still have been given a chance. I can't, for example, believe that he interviews any worse than Adam Gase does - and that fraud landed two plum NFL head coaching jobs. On another note, I'm breathing a little easier about Saleh at the Jets now that he's officially appointed his offensive team. He's managed to talk not just Mike LaFleur into joining him from the 49ers as OC, but he's brought the 49ers well-regarded offensive line coach, John Benton, with him as well (which was not expected, so is a bit of a minor coup for us). Those two appointments should be significant upgrades on the offensive coaches we've had for the past two years. Now, I'd say our coaching team looks a lot stronger. Fair play to Saleh for managing to convince strong coaches with nice jobs to up sticks and shift across the country to the insanity of Gotham."
