"DiCaniosLefty 1:23 Fri Apr 12 Try this. Immense song with his long-time collaborator Anneke van Giersbergen singing. I personally love the mixture of the massively heavy track, with a really pure female voice over it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf4_LB32M6Q PS Play loud on something decent only, not poxy laptop/phone speakers."

"I've tried listening to Townsend but his singing style is hard to listen to, he reminds me of a west end musical singer like john barrowman and one particular track on that empath album, he starts every verse with a style that sounds like he's going to start shouting ""Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien"". not for me :.)"

"The tinkrly sprinkely sound of me neighbours waterfall interspersed with the sound of me own nostril breathing and the barely heard skitter of me two guinea pigs - hortense and hutchene - named afterr the queen of germania and the mad australian deviant singer and lover of paula geldof. It is times and sounds like this - that make me feel so very close to the lord above. Symphonies accompamy him, such a beautiful din. In the distance, the noise of nights chatter and dropped glass comes rolling thin"

Not a massive fan of his either. Did like Strapping Young Lad as I like a bit a bit of Death Metal (Shitstorm is fantastic) but the rest of his oevre left me cold. Empath on the other hand is fabulous. It reminds me of Zappa's very best stuff for melody and invention and he has some voice.
