"I'm not a fan of ""indie"" - although I think it's a strange and outdated label tbh - but the Arctic Monkeys have always seemed to me to be a cut above their peers. There's a lot of snobbery when it comes to musical tastes that I find laughable. Whenever I meet someone new who isn't of the same taste as me and I tell them I mainly listen to metal, I usually get *that* look. You know, the scrunched up nose and faux confused ""shouldn't you have grown out of that by now"" look. Maybe I should listen to some Richard Thompson? I know at that point that I am not their kind and make my excuses ."

Not sure that's a great deal of progression. My 16 year old loves 70s disco and funk but I did drag him to see see the Damned a few weeks ago and he loved it. They are bloody good live though.

My 15 year old has progressed from the Gorillaz to the Arctic Monkeys. In evolutionary terms I am not sure if its a step forward or back. Gonna think about it while i listen to.the Specials.

Aalborg Hammer 2:57 Fri Aug 16 Amen - the harmonies of Gram & Emmylou particularly on the title track send shivers up my spine every time.
