Wildwood? Sounds a bit like Winwood. Sounds a LOT like Winwood. Like most of his solo stuff.

"only1billybonds starts with Space Oddity and is in chronological order right up to Sue(Or in a Season of Crime) I also really like his 60s stuff and I do like his first album plus tracks such as The Laughing Gnome and The Gospel of Tony Day. this is a good compliation, although I'm not keen on tracks like Little Wonder and I'm Afraid of Americans."

"dm How far back does that collection go? I played the Space Oddity album yesterday, some of the lyrics are insane (cygnet commitee esp.) Also, the real early stuff (world of David Bowie etc) show where his main influences lie. Western Stars. Springsteen."

"Just listened to the other-wise bubblegum Jennifer Eccles. Calvert starts the song in standard thump, thump, thump style and ends up as lead instrument. I never realised until today how good he was. I'm in bass-player heaven."

I'm not saying Hicks was anything like EVH but he just played the simple chords extremely well. Another guitar player of that ilk was Paul Reynolds of A Flock of Seagulls

"Eric Haydock was decent, but Bernie Calvert is a fucking awesome bass-player - just listening to Can't Tell the Bottom From the Top and Sorry Suzanne. Like a cross between McCartney and Entwistle."

"I'm listening to The Hollies 20 Golden Greats. They really could play and sing. Their own songs are consistently good (Carrie-Ann, Stop, Stop, Stop, On a Carousel, etc) and their choice of covers (The Air That I Breathe,Yes I Will, Just One Look, etc)is insanely good. Incidentally, they also did the best ever version of I Shall Be Released (not on the album). Very under-rated band."
