"Bungo 7:04 Fri Jan 7 Bungo, our paths probably crossed. Sad day when the premier place to rock your face become a fuckin MC Donald's. My brothers band played there quite a few times. Stage Fright and Playn Crazy, they even made it to the Ruskin and played In front of about 2 people Yea seen Charlie's shop in Hampton got some old vintage stuff in there. Glad still going. There was another chap based down the arches under Kew Bridge that did custom work. Think I owe him afew quid for some strings and things."

Re: What if anything are you listening to now?
"yngwies Cat 6:52 Fri Jan 7 I played at The Red Lion countless times with many other deluded 'wanabees' before they turned it into a Mcdonald's. We realised in the end that it probably had the fewest 'walk-up' punters of any pub gig in the south-east! I was sorry to see Chandler's go too, but frankly it had gone massively downhill over it's last few years. I used to regard it as a premium shop, but in the end they seemed to have a very poor stock. I still go to Charlie's shop in Hampton Wick quite a bit."

Bungo mate sounds great. They all brilliant players. Bet there wasn't much hair spray back in changing room that day We used to go and see Micky Moody do a free lunch time session down the Red Lion in Brentford back in the day. And used to see Neil Murray down at Chandler's guitar shop in Kew. Great line up. Would have liked to seen that show.

"yngwies Cat 6:13 Fri Jan 7 I remember seeing them at Hammersmith many years ago. I think the line-up was DC, Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody, Colin Hodgkinson (or maybe Neil Murray?), Jon Lord and Cozy Powell. Almost a Who's Who of 70s/80s rock royalty."

Re: What if anything are you listening to now?
"Mike Oxsaw Pendragon seem to be getting better and better. I think it was coming out of a Marillion gig at The Town & Country Club in December 1991, and someone was handing out prog flyers, when my mate recommended I should get the new Pendragon album 'The World' so I did and its a great album I had heard of IQ in the mid 80s as they were sometimes mentioned in Kerrang. A friend lent me his LP of The Wake and I loved it. I'm not keen on their more recent albums though. Mostly Autumn have done some great albums over the years. The now defunct Classic Rock Society used to champion them, so I knew about them almost from the beginning. Great band to see live"

"Yngwie, Saw that line up a few times. Brilliant. Rainbow, Gillan and Whitesnake were all great bands back in those days."

"That's the one mate. Fucking great album. Tonka was so underated, and was the perfect replacement to Michael."

Re: What if anything are you listening to now?
"dm 5:28 Fri Jan 7 I would tend to agree - some of their stuff is fingernails down the blackboard; That track is an 18 minute instrumental and less challenging. Not a band I would have sought out though, unlike Mostly Autumn (thanks to The Stoat for that, if I recall), Pendragon or IQ, of whom I've yet to hear a duff track."
