Thanks Terry-h Wonderwall- Oasis (.my daughters play list. I had no idea she liked this or Fleetwood Mac until.today) I thought she listened to Lana Del Ray snd Declan McKenna on a loop.

"If we are going to discuss great lyricists then I'd say Al Stewart. Because of his fascination of history, he pretty much invented the sub genre of songs about history and historical figures. I'd also mention Paul Roland and Roger Waters. Waters in particular, because I've always rated the self indulgent nature of his albums such as The Wall, The Final Cut, Radio KAOS, Amused to Death and Is This the Life We Really Want."

Surf I'd include Weller in that list until at least 1995 and probably Van Morrison as well. Though all..personal.taste obviously. So not something my tired self can be arsed to argue about.
