A progressive board with ambition would look to see if they have the best manager available at the helm. That is not this board. They'll only pull the trigger if relegation beckons...and it's too early to call that. At what point do they need to see signs of improvement though. All the noises are he's 100% safe...his only threat in my view is being hounded out by the fans.

"FCJ I'm not so sure about the players tbh. Think they are together but not with Moyes. Fornals,Downes,Ogbonna,Johnson and Aguerd all played for each other and the two youth starting (plus the young bench ). They made a point that if you give the players some freedom then players will play. Mubama and Scarles especially were very disiplined. They hadn't had the fear of ultra defensive tactics by Moyes. If we don't get rid of Moyes before the WC we will stagnate for a long time. Villa,Man Utd,Newcastle and perhaps Palace will all be further up the table. I'm tired of seeing the same crap. He has taken us as far he can. He can't take us any further it's as simple as that. Pochetino would love a month to be at the club before the resumed fixtures on boxing day. Moyes will look at one of Barcelona or Man Utd going down to the ECL and give up. He simply has to go now or on Sundayno matter what"

But with one league match remaining before the six-week World Cup break, he must address a number of issues. West Ham are two points above the relegation zone following Sunday's last-gasp 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace. They have been beaten eight times in the 14 league games so far in 2022-23 and are on 14 points, their lowest total at this point in a season for five years ""î and back then they fired Slaven Bilic to appoint Moyes for his first spell in charge. So, why are West Ham struggling like this? Most of the problems West Ham face have been Moyes' doing: persisting with out-of-form players such as Tomas Soucek; the repeated like-for-like substitution of Michail Antonio for Gianluca Scamacca, and vice versa; the defensive approach to games; his tendency to make late substitutions; the reluctance to alter the team's style despite the availability of new personnel. For example, West Ham sit deep in the hope of regaining possession from which they can launch an attack. Antonio thrives in this system due to his pace, but it hasn't got the best out of summer-signing Scamacca. The Italy international is often isolated up front, which means he is ineffective. It is the same issue Sebastien Haller endured during his ineffective season and a half at the club, played mostly under Moyes, either side of being prolific for Eintracht Frankfurt and then Ajax. West Ham and Palace both played a 4-2-3-1 formation yesterday, but there was a difference in their average team positions. As their position map below shows, West Ham sat deep. Lucas Paqueta (No 11) played as a No 10, and in a home game his average position didn't even cross the halfway line. Jarrod Bowen (No 20) is the only player in Moyes' side whose average position was in Palace territory. Contrast that with the visitors, who had four players whose average position was beyond halfway. A recent example of Moyes' defensive set-up has been playing Flynn Downes as a No 10 when Paqueta was out nursing a shoulder injury. Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini seemed ideal replacements for the Brazilian, and both are better suited than Downes to playing in an advanced central roles, yet Moyes favoured the young Premier League rookie, who struggled. Regarding late substitutions, of the 43 changes to his personnel Moyes has made in the league this season, more than half of them (22) have been in or after the 70th minute. Players coming off the bench for West Ham have only scored once in these first 14 games. Not a good team to watch Performances have largely been underwhelming. Take the home wins against Bournemouth and Fulham. It required late goals from Antonio against Fulham and Said Benrahma against Bournemouth to settle West Ham nerves. The 2-0 defeat of Wolverhampton Wanderers, a side struggling so badly they sacked head coach Bruno Lage the next day, is the only Premier League match of note where the team were comfortable. The Athletic previously highlighted why West Ham have been a second-half team. Although it has been a contributing factor behind their poor form, the bigger issue is they are too prone to being second best. They lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest despite creating more chances; were beaten 2-0 at home by Brighton & Hove Albion due to defensive mistakes; despite having twice as many shots on target (four) than Everton (two), they were on the wrong end of a 1-0 at Goodison Park. Yes, they deserved a point in the defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United by that same scoreline, but West Ham lack a winning mentality. This team are not playing to their full potential, given the ¬£165.7million ($186m) investment in new signings over the summer. West Ham have been average offensively and are fourth-bottom for goals scored with 12. They have also only created 14 big chances in as many games, which is the second-fewest in the league. So it is no surprise West Ham are no longer enjoyable to watch. Soucek's woes Soucek is struggling with his form. His once-impressive midfield partnership with Declan Rice has been on the decline since last season. His decision-making in the final third has regressed and fans sarcastically applauded his substitution just past the hour yesterday. Downes, 23, has impressed whenever he's played in a deeper role. We saw that in his man of the match performances against FCSB and Anderlecht in the Europa Conference League group stage. Soucek, 27, no longer warrants a place in the starting XI and Downes deserves to partner Rice at home to in-form Leicester City in next Saturday's final game before club football hits pause for the World Cup. Individual errors Wilfried Zaha's equaliser just before half-time yesterday was a sloppy goal to concede. It stemmed from Craig Dawson's bad pass to Thilo Kehrer, who equally had a poor first touch. But this isn't the first time individual errors have cost the team. Kehrer scored an own goal in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur and gave away a penalty in the loss to Brighton. He also defended poorly against Marcus Rashford in the build-up to Manchester United's solitary goal at Old Trafford. Antonio carelessly gave away possession against Palace, which enabled them to launch a late attack and score an added-time winner via Michael Olise. These are just a few examples. Lapses in concentration are costing this team points. Use of Benrahma Benrahma scored the opener on Sunday and generally caught the eye. But Moyes brought him off on 64 minutes, when the game was 1-1, a move which provoked loud boos from the London Stadium crowd. Fans also sang the Algerian's name in protest at his withdrawal. Benrahma was West Ham's main attacker, with Bowen enduring a quiet afternoon. Of the two, it is the Englishman who should have been brought off, yet he played the full 90 minutes. Benrahma has scored four goals and registered two assists in 19 appearances for West Ham across all competitions this season. But in his 12 Premier League outings, he has only completed 90 minutes three times. The 27-year-old looked disconsolate when he was taken off and it is hard to gauge if he has his manager's full trust."

You are doing a much better job than me of explaining what I also see and that's the presence of 4 sometimes 5 players on the pitch not technically good enough on the ball. That doesn't include Fabianski who is a great shot stopper and old style goalie but like Ben Foster admitted at WBA is incapable of playing sweeper / keeper or as part of the build up play which also contributes to us lumping it back to the opposition when they high press us. All teams are doing this to us at home now because they know we cannot play out and beat the press. Antonio, Soucek, Cresswell, Johnson Dawson all struggle with passing although Johnson has the ability it's his decision making that needs working on. These players should be on the bench or in the case of Antonio used as an impact wide man. His 12 month purple patch is long gone. Soucek should look for a new club so he can get first team football regularly. Got to hope Moyes uses the mini break to implement a new system of play but don't hold your breath."
