Re: Moyes Out
"I should just add, when your club has spent £180mil in one transfer window, you absolutely should expect to be served up some entertaining football, let alone 'winning' football. I can honestly say, I don't think I've genuinely enjoyed 45 minutes worth of football this season, let alone a 90 minute performance. That is totally unacceptable, by any metric."

"80 goals in 42 games is garbage, mate. Less than 2 per game. I think only Leicester and Chelsea have been worse since then."

Re: Moyes Out
"Surface, you've named teams from a long time in the past, and 1 anomaly, in Leicester. The game has moved on from 1-0 to the Arsenal, look at them now. As for Man City, you have to appreciated the football they play, whether it's to your taste or not. Over the last 20 years, the best teams have mostly played the best football, and it will continue that way. We need to strive for that. The big problem is some people seeing the 2 things as mutually exclusive. The absolute worst thing is playing shit, and losing. That's mostly what we do."
Re: Moyes Out
"Btw Surface i said football was about enjoyment & entertainment, not being a fan. The two are separate. You don't coach kids to play negatively, you encourage enjoyment & expression. Otherwise what's the point?"
Re: Moyes Out
"If football wasn't entertaining people would never watch it. Going to football is a separate experience. We don't get to chose how the team play, but I have way more fond memories of playing attacking football than the anti football served up by BFS. Btw Blackburn won the league scoring 80 goals in 42 games, with the most expensive attack in the league. There was nothing shit about their football."
Re: Moyes Out
"SurfaceAgentX2Zero I take your points about winning but for me, the football has to be good. Hard to say what that means but for me, Moyes is too ultra defensive. I enjoy good defending but not when it's coached at the expense of attacking play. So much of what Moyes is about is defending in depth rather than positive attacking play. We only ever have 1 forward and 2 attacking wide men that defend more than they attack. Even when losing. Moyes is stuck in a rut. His signings often don't really fit in unless they change the way they play. His selection of players is strangely inconsistent. But yes I suppose that if all that worked and we were at the top rather than the bottom, he'd be fine. But he's not at the top is he?"

Re: Moyes Out
"Eerie Descent 3:14 Sun Jan 22 I agree with most of your post, but now so much this: 'Over time, the consistently best and most successful teams play good football,' As well as the aforementioned 1 nil to the Arsenal, we've had Dirty Leeds, the hugely successful Liverpool of the 80s, Blackburn, Leicester, all of whom have played shit football. Add a dozen more teams that have won the FA Cup playing bad football and even masters of the dark arts Manchester City aren't that much fun on occasion. Obviously, I'd rather see West Ham win playing nice stuff. But mostly I'd like to see us win. Over the years West Ham have tried to play 'good football' without having good enough players or good enough tactics. As for the poster (not you Eerie) who thinks being a fan is about 'enjoyment' and 'being entertained' words fail me. I'm a West Ham fan for family and community (the fans and the beer) reasons. I suspect almost all proper fans of all clubs feel the same. I don't think 'entertainment' was even a thing at football until 1996. Fucking prawn sandwich cunts."
Re: Moyes Out
"""Moyes is the crutch losers hang onto"" YES and with our chairman heading the queue. The win yesterday will draw a line under the 'Moyes Out' question, for now in their minds at least. Huge gamble and hard to see us picking up anything in the next 3 games aside maybe a point, and not being back in the bottom 3. Going to be a huge struggle."

Re: Moyes Out
"Some of you really are missing the point over the style of football. Under Moyes, we've never played beautiful football, our main goal threat was set pieces when the going was good and no one was complaining, as we were doing well. Over time, the consistently best and most successful teams play good football, so that should be the aim. However, if that's not the aim, and the a is just about winning, then you have to fucking win. Playing the gut churningly abysmal style of football we do, AND losing, is a fucking massive problem. We're not asking for peak Brazil, we just want the team to go out and attack teams, especially shit teams. Everton are an appalling side, yet once again, we start the game with 10 men behind the ball, and relied on a set piece to get us out of trouble. If the Ogbonna handball was given as a pen, as it should have been, they could've been 0-1 up. We got lucky once again, how many times have we said that this season."

"you think some fans wanting us to play better football has held the club back? you must still be pissed. I can only think of one club that's had sustained success playing this dull, monolithic, grinding style and that was arsenal over thirty years ago"

Re: Moyes Out
"When we've won our third consecutive PL title and are ECL champs , I'll start worrying about the style of our football. Until then, I'll just care about the results. I've been a West Ham fan for 60 years, and to be frank, I've never given a damn about beautiful football. In fact, I've always regarded our (the fans) obsession with it as something that has held us back as a club. It's a loser's crutch, really. I became, and remain, a West Ham fan for reasons other than the quality of the football. Let's be honest, if it was about the quality of the football we'd all have given up long ago."
Re: Moyes Out
"Everton Bournemouth Fulham Wolves Villa Norwich Everton Villa Wolves Watford Norwich Palace Watford The manager, his attitude to games and the tactics he employs will and does gain us victories against the above kind of teams. Other than Palace, that's all struggling or poor teams. We will not beat the likes of Newcastle, Brighton, the 'big' 6 with this setup. It's pretty much 50/50 at best whether we beat the bog standard teams like Palace and Brentford. This is our ceiling with how it stands."
Re: Moyes Out
"Moyes had a good run by getting us organised and playing to a system that could undertake quick counter attacks. The other teams worked it out, players got older and a Europa schedule led to his methods no longer getting results. The shift was dramatic too in a short time. He had summer as an opportunity to show he could get a team to play another way. He's failed to do that. No shame as such it's simply beyond his capabilities / knowledge and football intelligence. I think, perhaps, he has become more of a manager than coach over the years and really lacked the coaching team or tactical insight from his team to implement another way to play. Nevin, Nolan, McKinley etc. would need to know how to drill the players but someone would need to understand the need for players that have pace, press and play at a tempo, can pass accurately under pressure. Also the need for a goalkeeper to be part of the build up play and use their feet, pass etc No sign of any of the above. All we see is the same selections, formations and set up but trying to pass it around more. But look at the times the players at the back just hoofed it clear yesterday and hand over possession. And we still sit deep in the same 4-2-3-1 formation. We are going to stick with him by the looks of things. Survival is the only goal. Touch and go imo. Hopefully a change of ownership coming but we need to modernise and it's time for Moyes to move on. He should have gone a long while back"

Re: Moyes Out
"Will - Yea, I think if Moyes rides this out and we get to the summer then he will stay. He is their man as far as the 'project' goes, so they will put this season down as a 'blip' and it will be business as usual moving forward, etc. Will probably throw more money at it. The caveat being new owners come in."
Re: Moyes Out
"It's becoming clearer that the board are giving full backing to Moyes so I doubt very much that he will be ""let go"" in the summer as long as we finish above bottom 3. I reckon that Sullivan and most fans today see wins, however they come, as the key to fans support. On WHO we see better football as the main criteria for a manager. All around seem to be less pure about how we win as long as we win. Shame really but I suppose we're getting more spend on players to ensure Moyes keeps us up and I think he's here for the long term unfortunately."

"Still want a change after yesterday Everton are dog shit and still should have scored 2 themselves, lucky they didn't Hoping these Everton ITKs weren't talking bollocks and Moyes does go there"
Re: Moyes Out
Hopefully we can limp home to 16th spot this season and Moyes can be let go in the summer. Much more likely to get a decent manager in the summer with our safety guaranteed and a summer to work with the squad.

"Yeh, get shot of the negative sweaty, pronto. He's outstayed his welcome by some time now, dragging everything and everybody down around him in the process. Basically, fuck the Mr.safe loser off out the club."
Re: Moyes Out
Reading some of the posts on here it seems many posters are truly gutted we won yesterday
Re: Moyes Out
We ought to be looking at Paul Warne as a possible replacement for the jock cսnt. He's got Derby County looking like a proper football club again.
