Re: Moyes Out
"Willtell But why would anyone want to buy the Gold's shares for a club headed for the championship, but at a premier league price? Sullivan absolutely won't, and nor will Kretinsky or anyone else. Relegation suits no-one here if a sale price is agreed. They will all be stuck with an asset at a far lower value than it is now, needing to pump more money in to return it to what it currently stands at. The Golds can't/won't sell if we go down either. At the moment Sullivan is the only one who can do anything about it. The Golds and Kretinsky are just passengers. There is no gain for Sullivan in us going down in any scenario, unless he has agreed a price and a date to bail out which cannot be legally changed and just wants to give a big parting fuck you to the fans. It wont get him any more money though so it would literally be just to spite us."
Re: Moyes Out
You'd think Sullivan would have learnt from the past. It can't be good for his ego to get to a point where people are shouting and swearing at him. Especially with that fucking thing on his arm these days. Can't see anything but anger and animosity this weekend

"We are at home against Villa .. if things go badly it will get ugly, Sullivan better be there, but might be advised to not be there if he wants to limit the scenes... vociferous fans hurling vile, hatred aimed at him and his useless offspring.. Let's hope it doesn't come to that but I suspect it will."

Re: Moyes Out
"I think the reason for Sullivan sticking with Moyse is pretty simple, he is hoping he comes good because he has got no idea outside of the PL about any other managers. His choices tell the story 1. Grant 2. Allardyce 3. Bilic 4. Moyse 5. Pellegrini 6. Moyse He probably would have gone for Dyche if he had not already been taken by Everton so its probably true that he thinks that there is no one out there to replace Moyse. He would have Benitez who wants a long contract and big wages and I think he will go for that if we lose to Villa as he has no other option in his mind. Sullivan has to go or a DOF to come in for things to change."

"shorty Exactly. Pay 160 million in cash now for shares in a club that will be worth significantly less later if his little scheme works out. Stroll on you plonker (not you of course, RB)."

"Griff, I don't have any inside knowledge, but what you've said would tie in with my thoughts on the whole situation. And yeah, I said at the time a win against Everton would be the worst thing for this football club, and sadly it's looking that way. He would have been forced to act, and there was still time I can't say the same about Villa, because there's not enough time or winnable games left to give those points away. That said, I think we will lose, it'll get toxic, and he'll have to act. Shades of Burnley, who also play in claret & blue..."

"simon.s 1:39 Mon Mar 6 Re: Moyes Out It's on the fans now. It's the only way Sullivan will act if the atmosphere turns ugly at home. yep but apathy sadly reigns, in 2023. the fanbase grows less militant year on year and trust me, it was hard work getting any form of protest during the brown out days."

stewie griffin 1:05 Mon Mar 6 Re: Moyes Out that's a pretty good assessment for me but one that turns us greyer by the minute - a 'no light at the end of the tunnel' summary. which is just about where we are. moyes out brown out
Re: Moyes Out
El Scorchio 1:37 You're missing the point mate. Gold's dying wish was for his family to continue with WHU. They probably are happy for that to happen as the club is currently valued at around £650m making their dad's investment £160m. Relegation to the Championship and they either take the £160m before the agreed option expires or the shares drop to what? £25m? One things for sure it puts pressure on the Golds who are really now just investors looking at huge losses on relegation. Selling to either Sullivan (1st option) or Kretinsky (2nd option) will look like a real result...

Re: Moyes Out
"Takashi Miike 1:25 Then taking us down with any sort of intent makes zero sense if he indeed has first refusal on the shares as though. The price of the shares won't change but suddenly his costs go up a hell of a lot more from having to offload several players for below market value and buying replacements as well as a new manager. And the chances of a decent manager coming are even less in the Championship. Worse than that, all the 'progress' of the last decade is gone and we are back to square one when we had to hire Allardyce and do the last rebuild. IF it's to ensure he gets them rather than Kretinsky or anyone else, then that's a very dangerous game that's going to cost him a lot of money."

"If Sullivan were to be planning to engineer a takeover of Gold's shares at a discount by engineering relegation, he would have to be stark, staring mad. He may be incompetent but bonkers he is not."

Re: Moyes Out
"Relegation this time will more likely be longterm for us than short-term. Most our players will fuck off that means bedding in a lot of players if we can even get them as Sullivan struggles to do deals especially if the clubs are whacking on an extra few million because it's West Ham. Then we will have a half empty stadium with every team coming there for it's cup final so no way is that guaranteed to be a fortress, it's a Sunderland scenario more than any other comparison......"

Re: Moyes Out
"stewie griffin 1:05 Yeah, I can see that to be fair. A mixture of a lack of foresight/vision/football nous and knowledge, mixed in with some arrogance pigheadedness and not wanting to admit he may have been wrong. (Although weirdly he would be right, seen as he canned Moyes once not believing he was the man for the job) I will say that all the talk I either overheard or between myself and the people I go with after the Leicester game was 'Surely he goes tomorrow' with the World Cup a great chance to get a new man in. So WE as fans all seemed to know back then.(and has been said after almost every match back since the World Cup) That was the time, and he sat on his hands then, and indeed through January when he had ample opportunity. Anyway, all academic now. We probably are stuck with him as I agree I don't really see a viable realistic alternative but it definitely doesn't change Sullivan's culpability for this absolute mess. Just backs up that it's stupidity rather than malevolence (which would be a bit of a flight of fancy anyway)"

"an ITK was on one of the west ham youtube channels last night saying there's no guarantee sullivan wants to go ""He's already a billionaire, he doesn't particularly need the money"". It's a nightmare scenario but I can see it happening, and scorchio, I wasn't saying he'd rip off the gold family - just purchase the shares at the agreed price"

Re: Moyes Out
"""That would explain why he isn't as bothered about relegation as much as fans are."" You've just had it explained to you on the other thread that Sullivan stands to lose a hell of a lot if we were to get relegated. Of course he's bothered."
Re: Moyes Out
"""El Scorchio 1:01 Mon Mar 6 Re: Moyes Out So Sullivan's plan is to get us relegated, pick up Gold's shares for a discounted price and get us promoted, and then sell for more money?"" ------------------------------------------ Of course DS doesn't want to relegate us deliberately but for him there are serious compensations if it does happen. That would explain why he isn't as bothered about relegation as much as fans are."

Re: Moyes Out
"We should have kept Moyes after he kept us the first time . One thing he is good at is getting a struggling team into mid table, As he proved at Man U he cannot handle a big squad that means he has options for different tactics for every opponent instead he just put square pegs in round holes to fit his one of 2 formations he has up his sleeve"

It's quite a unique position to be in. Literally anyone could come in and do a better job than our owner or manager.

Re: Moyes Out
"Scorch - ""so why isn't he doing anything about it?"" there's a long answer to that.. to try to keep it simple - Sullivan starts from a base position of only ever wanting managers with PL experience. Right now, that basically creates a shortlist of Allardyce & Benitez. Others like Pochettino and Tuchel won't come with where we are. Both of the available options have massively inflated opinions of their own value, so he's actually not wrong to put them on the back burner. Fundamentally, Sullivan is lazy in his assessments, like the rest of the footballing community, pundits etc. He drifted into the WC period, same as everyone else, going 'West Ham will be fine'. Thus, no plans were made. We return from the world cup, continue to be shit, and there is no plan. Then there is panic. Dyche, for whatever anyone thinks of him or his playing style, is an honorable man. He had been approached by Everton and given assurances, so when we beat them and fats0 got sacked, he went there. JIBBERS has said on here that the worst thing thats happened to us is that Everton win, he isn't wrong. So from there, with a limited shortlist and a couple of cunts who think they;re worth more than they are, he ventures that the best thing to do is throw money at it. So he signs Ings. And spends the last two weeks of the transfer window frantically calling all and sundry trying to get others in. Anyone. Reckoning that ultimately the players can get us out of it, in spite of Moyes, not because of him. It was sullivan that canned him first time, Gold0 wanted him to stay. There's a whole bunch of other stuff going on that one day will or won't come out, but there's nothing sinister on Sullivan's part - its just grand scale incompetence, the like of which exceeds anything that Brown and co ever did."
