Moyes Out ( Released )
"Posted the same last year. Nothing has changed, except win don't win matches anymore. I'm fed up, we can do much better"
Re: Moyes Out
"I'm not sure how attacking Still's tactics actually are though. He likes to play a high line and press and man mark all over the pitch, but these can be the marks of a defensive tactic, albeit a very different one than that utilised by Moyes. If you look at the results Reims have had a huge number of clean sheets: 13 in his 22 games, compared to 0 in the 9 games before he took over. But in those 9 games they actually averaged more goals. The majority of Still's games have ended up 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1."
Re: Moyes Out
"The Soucek issue is quite weird. I watched him against Arsenal and for about 70 minutes I didn't see him make contact with his feet with the ball. No tackles or interceptions. He headed the ball several times though. He closed down relatively well but can't remember him making a block. I'll have to check the stats page. I still love Soucek still but he's not contributing. There was some debate last year blaming Rice for wanting to go forward more. I tried convincing some that it's better for Rice to be allowed to do that. Teams worked Soucek out, Moyes hasn't I think that debate is now closed. I think Fornals could actually work well alongside Rice and Paqueta. He's got great energy, passes better and scores a few."

Re: Moyes Out
I feel Carrick would be a safer bet than Still. Still could be amazing but equally could be a car crash

Re: Moyes Out
"Will Still said a few quotes I liked if that one were to happen in this video describing his coaching approach when playing PSG https://youtu.be/0xcPcpTS4Ns ""We're going to press high and not invite pressure""ù ""We're not going to sit back against psg""ù ""I wanted my boys to set the tone of the game""ù Quite glad we're getting linked with managers who're not scared to attack and the opposite of Moyes cautious approach It's worked for 18 months and in conference league but been worked out now in the premier league"
Re: Moyes Out
"Paulo Fonseca seems to be the polar opposite of Moyes, not just because he prefers possession based attacking football. Saw this interview where he said: ""For me, it's not just about winning, but how you win. Sometimes I lose and go home with peace of mind ; sometimes I win and I come home preoccupied. It all depends on what happened during the match: if we played well, if we played our game... I'm not a resultadist at all and the day I felt like I was, I quit football, because it's not my way of living my job."" I like the cut of his jib."

Paulo Fonseca's name seems to be coming up from a few journalists now Some are saying we've already spoken to his agent We also interviewed him before
Re: Moyes Out
Russ of the BML 12:12 Fri Apr 21 A very good question that gets to the point Russ. Even if we win the Conference and avoid relegation he should go. Moyes is not the future of West Ham even though he would have an enviable record of a 3rd year in Europe (if he wins). His limitations have been exposed in the transfer markets and his tactics are not what WHU should have. The crowd appreciation of some of Paqueta's tricks last night were audible on BT Sports broadcast. West Ham need more than a defensive survivor as manager.

Re: Moyes Out
Russ It's a no for me. Transfer dealings in both of his spells at the helm have been poor too much dithering and then failing to integrate the signings properly into the team. Add in failure to develop young players into the first team means that I can't see how we can develop and move forward as a club under the Moyes stewardship

Re: Moyes Out
Just my opinion but if Moyes is criticised for the bad performances then he must be given credit for the good ones. I hope we can go and and win it now and if we did that would be a massive achievement.
Re: Moyes Out
"I see Moyes has already started crowing about his success in Europe. ""I don't know if West Ham have had back-to-back European semi-finals."" Yes, David, we did in 65 and 66. Would have taken quite a while to trawl through our long European history to be aware of that I guess."

Re: Moyes Out
Trundle That is absouletely my expectation! And we have done it the last few years and got to the semis in both years. That is why this season has been disappointing as we have under achieved. But if we stay up and win the cup then noone should be complaining.
Re: Moyes Out
"Great second half. But a game of football is 90 mins. We will go out if we only put in a 45 min shift. Lots to be encouraged about, I mean Rice is at a completely different level also consider the amount of games he has played this season for club and country - just complete stand out. Good to see Antonio get goals from open play, also Bowen was unlucky. There seemed to be a hunger and an appetite for winning the ball back second half and shifting the ball forward quickly with players in support rather than being isolated."

Re: Moyes Out
"Sir Alf 10:25 Fri Apr 21 Good post. Can't argue with any of that. I think the issue arising is that there's two camps. Moyes out. Moyes in. The Moyes out camp cite the last 15 - 16 months as some of the most turgid, negative and depressing football they've ever seen. Moyes prickly attitude, unusual subs, wrong team selections, wrong tactics and, god forbid, the dire record of 15 wins in 54 PL games up to a couple of weeks ago. The Moyes in camp cite the fact that he kept us up when he returned second time. The season after qualifying for Europa League. Last season's exploits in Europa League. Two European semi-finals in succession. I've heard some old school supporters argue that he has to be one of our most successful manager ever. It's two extreme's. I think we should all just come into the middle ground and despite the positives and the negatives, ask one question. Is Moyes' methods the future for West Ham?"

"The Fonz 11:23 Fri Apr 21 I just wish you (and the manager) could raise your expectations a little more. We should be seen as a team that fights for European places. It shouldn't be a surprise to the manager expectations are rising. IF we end up winning the conference, then expectations will rise even further."

Re: Moyes Out
"""This time last year we were in Lyon singing his name for a good 20 minutes after the game. This year it's the players did it in spite of Moyes."" fonz, you must realise the players are far happier being let off the leash like we saw in the second half of the last two game? he is entirely responsible for the dour, safety first shit he tried to employ for most of the season. threatening signs were there at villa park, where he started the five at the back experiment and even after the skipper said it was no good in the post match press conference, continued with it over the next six months. stop defending him, he doesn't deserve such loyalty"
Re: Moyes Out
"OneAll No mate, adhering to the 'Moyes Plan' put us in the mess we arrived at The players ignoring him and taking the initiative is pulling us out of it Sounds fanciful granted, but the mood music from the club, public and second hand, suggests just that As I said, Paq even over rode the penalty taking"
Re: Moyes Out
"Takashi Miike 10:04 Fri Apr 21 Brighton away it was being sung from memory...which is understandable as we were dreadful that day but still not a fan of it. Lee Trundle 10:44 Fri Apr 21 I wouldn't say 'so' fond as I think he still needs to go at the end of the year regardless of what happens. But yes I do like him and have wanted him to succeed at us. Watching him celebrate Rice's goal does put a smile on my face - guilty. He has given me some of my favourite years of being a hammer. Kept us up twice, two top 7 finishes (albeit one of them we really should have cracked the top 4) and European semi-finals two seasons in a row...We should be doing better with the squad/investment but sometimes it doesn't work out. This time last year we were in Lyon singing his name for a good 20 minutes after the game. This year it's the players did it in spite of Moyes."
Re: Moyes Out
"I think Moyes needs to go this summer whether we win the Conference or not. His failings have been shown up over the last 15months. Too defensive minded; poor substitutions; poor signings; sticking by favourite players; tetchy to fans and so on. However, getting rid of Moyes with Sullivan choosing his successor doesn't mean we will get better. If we win the Conference and keep out of relegation trouble there will be many fans happy to see Moyes stay for the last year of his contract. Many more fans than represented by WHO posters..."
Re: Moyes Out
"crassus - you have contradicted your self mate, so all the losses are the players fault also"
Re: Moyes Out
"Penters has this right The victory has nothing to do with Moyes and everything to do with the players It's his shocking tactics that have delivered the league season, first leg near disaster and the players taking the 'Arsenal' approach that delivered the victory FFS, they even took over penalty taking decisions I despise the bloke, granted, but want him out at the first opportunity for football reasons"

Re: Moyes Out
"The Fonz 9:31 Fri Apr 21 ""Maybe thats the issue, my expectations of West Ham are so low!"" That's possibly why you're so fond of Moyes?"
Re: Moyes Out
"Is not personal. No one knows him although his character traits are ego centric / narcissistic . Perhaps he's a humble chap at home with his family? But in a professional capacity his behaviour is say""¶ ""not endearing""ù He is the last of a generation of managers that have been left behind by the progression of the game. He refuses to accept it and his ambitions are below the fans of most clubs. The game is about winning and getting results but also as Oliver Reeds character in Gladiator said ""are you not entertained""ù. Fir 15 months no we ain't !!! Change of ownership still the root problem but let's get someone in who understands the game is now about possession and movement and technique first not aerial ability in defence and the ""low block""ù spoiling, defending in depth and hoping for a counter attack. Gent fortunately had to go for it and played into our hands last night but we did well to punish them so ruthlessly. Bournemouth are materially better than Gent so we will see how we shape up Sunday. Was thinking ( dangerous I know ) Paqueta taking the penalty ? Another sign of the players taking things into their own hands ? No post can go without the simple question yet to be answered or perhaps a question that can never be answered without the mind altering drugs Moyes must be on: Soucek? Wtf ? Why? :-)"
