"I don't see us spending money in the summer, we spent 170 million last summer so it would be very unlike our board to spend again. Unfortunately Moyes will stay Rice will go and we'll get someone like Phillips to replace him and thats about it unless Scamacca goes then we buy another striker..."

"OK, so assuming we stay with Moyes next season, what target do you set him? Would it just be a league-position target? Or would you expect a radical change in approach that would involve the players not just being selected to appear but enjoying their game and excelling?"

"I mentioned the players fell off a cliff in Jan last year a few posts back. I'm not saying this season has been great it's not been, but I can see we are team in transition and sometimes patience is required. Arsenal fans were wanting Arteta out not long ago, but sometimes you have to look beyond the end of your nose and see the bigger picture. Some of our fanbase have never accepted his appointment, I'm not going to have people rewriting history. Moyes does not have a bad record in the transfer market with us, to say he doesn't know how to manage new signings is ridiculous."

So you are happy with the way the players have been managed on the strength of last season's finishing position. I notice you don't even mention our form since January 2022 - are you perhaps just being a bit disingenuous?

"So all of them players I listed, the large majority have been part of us finishing 6th and 7th in the league have not been managed properly ? We would sell everyone of them for a profit tomorrow"

"I'm afraid it doesn't matter if money is spent well or not. The problem is, once spent, the players are not managed properly, and that's the bottom line."

"Why can't Moyes be trusted to spend the money ? His signed Zouma, Aguerd, Paqueta, Benrahma, Bowen, Coufal, Soucek Kehrer. These are not bad buys, there have been plenty of our previous managers that you could aim that at, but Moyes is not one of them."

"we were struggling the last 15 mins, getting tired, understandably, Soucek's injury actually went in our favour as it virtually gave us a 8 min break, don't know how they only gave only those minutes as injury time was expecting 12. Moyes should have replaced Antonio then as it would have been easier to have the sub start from then. Soucek too, with a head injury should have come off but then he would have to miss the next game i guess. Moyes can walk away with a ECL win,he can't manage us next year as without Rice he won't have anyone to take the game by the scruff of the neck."

"people keep worrying about us wasting money but miss the point that it's him that devalues players. It's him that it took six months before he knew what to do with our record signing, and many others he still hasn't worked it out. that's why he has to fuck off asap. we can't sustain losing tens of millions on these type of players because of his own deficiencies"

"Sir Alf Of course this is wild wishful thinking but the logic goes like this: if there is a plan at the club, one of the assumptions must surely be that the Conference Cup is the absolute pinnacle of what can be achieved with Moyes. Also, building on the Rice/Paqueta partnership, serious European action next season plus the fans and the Academy has to be a highly attractive prospect for any ambitious candidate. On the other hand, holding on to Moyes and losing Rice will mean the Conference, if we win it, is a hollow victory. It will also be a declaration we are a club no plan and no ambition."

Sir Alf makes an unarguable point- Moyes can't be trusted to spend the Rice money. Last time we were in this position we wasted the Rio money on the likes of Titi Camara. That simply can't happen again.

"If he oversees us winning this Conference cup it will be hard to see him given the tin tack. Could he confound me and all us other doubters who have wanted him gone for a while? I very much doubt it and expect even if we win this cup, keep him it will still see him gone by Xmas. The loss of Rice is one of those moments where you can either go forward or backwards depending on how you spend he money assuming we get circa 100 million? He cannot be trusted to spend it so if he's kept on let's hope someone else makes the call on who we get and thinks longer term in terms of addressing the shortfalls ( pace, better technical players, good wing backs, another cb and speedy forward etc). Of course, knowing our luck Sullivan and his agents will resume the ""scouting""ù (cough) and recruitment :-("

"Problem is he can't get us playing if Antonio isn't playing and he has no other way. Scamacca played under the Brighton manager at Sassoulo who I've just heard had the most possession in Serie A.. But he then expects him to play in a system where he's isolated Oh and let's have it right of course teams sussed us out as we got good at it they stopped us doing it. We had a good half against Man U, we also did against Arsenal, if we get good at it again teams will start to stop us again. Man U weren't expecting it because we haven't done it When teams stop us doing it, he doesn't know what to do."

"It's not found out, you don't just suddenly work out the opposition like to press and then hey presto we all have a plan to counteract it. We plsyed exactky thst way last night and Utd couldnt live with it. The time you're talking about was when we didn't have to play Thursday/Sunday football with a tiny squad. The players fell off a cliff last January. We have been able to rotate better this time around but have faced other issues I have already outlined. Add European football to Brentford/Brightons schedule and let's see how they get on."

It's true that possession stats in some games aren't worth much like today with Brighton but over the seasons if you want sustained success or even win something you need to have the ball more than the opposition. You can pick out Leicester's title winning season as an exception but it's about the long term philosophy and the stats show over multiple games and seasons teams that dominate the ball have the most success. We made counter attacking work for a while but next season teams were able to negate what we did. Fans also generally want their team to outplay and outlaws the opposition over time even if they see some success short term. Imo

"So when was you last happy with our style of play ? Yesterday, especially second half. This is par for the course when you have the players but the manager is not up to it - some games they'll turn it on some games but most of the time the energy levels will be right down, as will confidence. Passes will go astray, possession is lost cheaply, we sit far too deep and sloppy goals will be conceded,"
