"We'll know how the season is going to pan out from the kick off in the first game. Obviously from the starting line up, but also how we approach the game. Last season, although it was Man City, it was the first home game of the season, we had just dropped £200mil on players, the atmosphere was there, and we went and played the whole game with 11 men behind the ball, they didn't even break sweat. Set up the whole league season from there."

"swindon hammer 12:49 Wed Jun 14 Very simple, to rebuild his reputation. The geezer has just practically got one of the best ever squads relegated, he has a chance to spend a few years winning things and land another Prem job."

Agreed i'm expecting a rough start to the season purely cos I can't see anything changing We've actually already got some very good players so any transfers look immaterial and its hard to imagine we won't be weaker whatever we do without rice

"""don't be surprised if we get a few good results at the start of the season Sullivan extends his contract"" I'd be surprised is we get a few good results at the start of the season. I think there's a greater chance he gets binned off early doors if results are shit. In fact, I might even place a cheeky bet on him being the first manager sacked. I suspect his odds would be quite high after winning the Conference."

Moyes goes with Sullivan. He's a yes man that does as asked. Doesn't rock the boat and that's just what Sullivan wants. Him staying would have meant he adheres to even more of Sullivan's terms.

"Russ, I totally get why Celtic want him back just don't understand why Rodgers himself would go back when he's got nothing to gain or prove at a club that has won 5 Trebles in 7 years."

Everyone thinking Moyes has only one year on his contract why give him the Rice money but don't be surprised if we get a few good results at the start of the season Sullivan extends his contract

swindon hammer 9:51 Wed Jun 14 He's a safe pair of hands who will likely ensure that Celtic remain more successful than Rangers. It's a sad state of affairs but literally the whole point of the Glasgow sides is to ensure the other one is not successful. That's basically it. So when either Celtic or Rangers recruit a manager they do so only with one thing in mind . To come above the other club. Rodgers cannot prove anything to anyone with this appointment. Even if he wins the treble his stock remains the same. All it means is that Rangers have gone trophyless for a season - Which is the main objective.

Rodgers is going back to Celtic isn't he? A bit of an odd move if true considering in his first spell there he won the Treble 3 times and now the manager who's just left for Tottenham has just won the Treble for them as well. What else can he prove other than to win the Treble yet again?

"If I was Moyes I would be gone like a shot. With no Rice at the club and Sullivan holding the purse strings, we are going to plod around 13th or 14th again next season. He could leave us with a trophy won in his final game and go Celtic where trophies are guaranteed."

"The thing I'm not understanding is, if you don't have any faith in your manager, hence not extending his contract, just letting the contract run down, why would you give that manager the Rice money to spend. Unless, for whatever reason, you are not intending to give him that money to spend."

"A DOF is a good move if it's a good DOF. Moyes has made some bizarre decisions re players, unless the likes of Scamacca were brought in to play a different way. If that was the case then Moyes didn't work on it hard enough. If he was always going to revert to type then why on earth bring in Scamacca, a player who doesn't suit that style at all? Strangely the two wingers turn strikers who did suit Moyes style of play are Antonio and Arnautovic, both purchased by Bilic weren't they?"

"DOF is just a position to give the owners more leverage in a club by making sure a manager (who may only be there a short time) doesn't have them by the balls and ruin things with a short term strategy. Moyes has 1 yr left so its not really worth it. I think the big issue is not the players Moyes brings in, but his inability to coach them either into his current (and only) style of football or a more possession based one. I think Sullivan is just saying more of the same, lets wing it again and I will have my record of never sacking managers (not sure, did he actually sack MP?)"

Anyone actually believe that Moyes will change in the last year of his contract? Of course he won't. The elation of last week is wearing off fast. How can Sullivan make so many wrong decisions when it's bllndingly obvious what we need to do?

You watch rice will be replaced by someone like JWP for £40-45m with no resale value continuing this stupid unsustainable transfer policy Notice how Moyes has never actually implemented the red bull policy he said on his return the shyster
