Moyes Out ( Released )
"Posted the same last year. Nothing has changed, except win don't win matches anymore. I'm fed up, we can do much better"
Re: Moyes Out
I think the problem is that the board will see it as confirmation that Moyes is doing a good job if he gets us in top 8 again and has good runs in cups and Europa. You only have to look at Sullivan's record appointing managers to see that a safe pair of hands will always keep the job...

Re: Moyes Out
I've been quiet before and during the PL start. Wanting to see if changes are parent before I judge anyone. Bournemouth looked like no progress. Chelsea i would and could accept the style. I'm giving it a few more gsmes

Re: Moyes Out
"Jim79 6:33 Mon Aug 21 Fair enough, I do remember that. Not sure if it shows up on the stats as a save or not. I thought he did well. Claimed the ball a few times with authourity. Would loved if he didn't hoof it as much. The penalty save was great, especially since he hasn't looked close to saving some in the past. Still think its lazy and Ward-Prowse made two goals (enough to win the game) happen. All opinions."
Re: Moyes Out
"IOC, to be fair mate I forgot about the penalty save mainly because the moment it was given I decided to go up to the bar to save myself the pain of having to watch it given it was on the verge of halftime. Areola made a great save towards the end diving down to his left preventing what would have been an own goal, I forget who it came off. I thought he was good and im not saying he didn't deserve the MOTM, what im saying is if your keeper is picking that up then the outfield play isn't good enough and needs improving."
Re: Moyes Out
"Good result and never want a West Ham loss. Being realistic. First half football was largely tosh. Second half a bit better. Silva had Antonio in his pocket throughout (If we must chase ancient centre halfs what about one that can play?) Antonio fell over a lot as per usual and did little else until the second half when he lucked onto the other centre back who looked shaky at best. If Moyes persists with playing like this our two first half corners won't cut it as enough. Their penalty, fortunately was dogshit and the earlier offside would not always go our way. Very happy with the result but not getting carried away, felt we sneaked one. Too little possession; wasteful passing and lack of movement, Ward Prowse being robbed when looking for a non existent option summed up a frustration; too little pressure (Fornals and Pacqueta aside) and too much backs to the wall. No change of view here, he must go."

"Jim The penalty save kept us in it, but that MOM was a lazy pick. Right? He made 2 other saves, which I don't remember being amazing."

"Steve We still need more players with better movement, faster but also smarter, and more players that pass the ball better under pressure. We need score on things that are not counters or set pieces to keep ""lesser"" teams honest."

"I'm quite happy to see us play that way against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, city etc etc and hope for the best but we all know the tactics will be same against shit like Sheffield United, Luton, Forest etc because Moyes doesn't know how to set up any different."

Re: Moyes Out
"Takashi Miike 5:07 Mon Aug 21 I know it comes down to who you buy initially but if you are worried about the opposition blowing past your defenders, the natural inclination would be to drop deep and not get beat. I guess how do we combat that against Chelsea? For any faults they have, Sterling, Jackson,Chukwuemeka, Mudryk, and Madueke all have great to excellent pace. How to combat that? For me it is more about not giving them the ball as much and less about a position that could get us burned. Jackson and was almost doing that already. Still need a different manager but more doable with the players we have?"

Re: Moyes Out
"for me, it's all about how deep we're set up. as a left back I hated playing that way, and I fucking loathe watching it. It use to anger me when redknapp would let it slip in at times, and he was a very adventurous manager. I don't particularly give a shit about dominating possession. teams like spain who won the euros/world cup and wenger's teams bored the fuck out of me. a higher line, which then gives us cohesion throughout is all I want. it's not going to happen though, sadly"

Re: Moyes Out
"I hate the new found terms used, but let's be honest, Chelsea are in TRANSITION, and badly lack a striker. Most teams, if we play like that against them, are going to wipe the floor with us. It's the amount of talent at our disposal that makes it stick in the craw. Littered with multi million pound international footballers, paid absolute fucking fortunes, and we can't string 3 passes together, because that is clearly the last thing the manager focuses on. It's the epitome of football with no hope attached. We are the worst 'football' team in the league. Many on here are awarding our central midfielders MOTM awards for defensive headers against BOURNEMOUTH for fuck sake. It's utter fucking madness"

"Conversation on the radio this afternoon about Moyes and his old fashioned methods. Saying if we don't improve the style of football the fans will want him out, despite the results. Hmmm...fans are fickle, if we remain top 6 playing this style most fans will want him to stay"
Re: Moyes Out
"On the BBC commentary there was a comment along the lines of ""its this approach to games that will get Moyes the sack"" if you're gonna serve up such shit football you have to get results. at least then you can say 'look at my results'. if we are anything like last season then he wont last long."

Re: Moyes Out
"I agree to a point, I'm not overly bothered about having loads of the ball. I'd prefer to watch Liverpool of 3 years ago to Man City, for example. However, 27% fucking possession at fucking home is a fucking disgrace. I genuinely can't believe people are saying we played well on the match thread, fucking hell. We got ridiculously lucky yesterday, you don't always get what you deserve, and what we served up yesterday is a disgrace to football. In fact, as I said, that ain't football. Playing like that is not sustainable, it didn't work last year as we nearly got relegated. It's all good and well celebrating yesterday, but we are going to get absolutely torn apart by Brighton."
Re: Moyes Out
"Stubbo 1:19 Mon Aug 21 This is exactly how I feel about it. I'm not bothered about the low possession or the counter attacking direct style of football. It's the total passivity that makes us so utterly dull to watch as well as ineffective. We've seen that the players we've got have the energy and ability to press the opposition but the manager clearly tells them to sit back, so we only win possession way in our own half, and we've not been good at initiating attacks from so deep."

Re: Moyes Out
"Stubbo 1:19 Mon Aug 21 You are right we pressed so much more in those seasons and now we sit back and wait... if that is his approach it just puts too much pressure on us surviving the attacks. It also means we are 10-20 yards further back in our own half which means the counter attack is mostly a long ball hit and hope, maybe JWP can improve those long balls but it's much easier to get chances if you've won the ball in the opposing half otherwise you need extreme pace which we definitely don't have."
Re: Moyes Out
"Apparently recruitment of replacement coaching staff is imminent according to Moyes. That may give some pointers to where we are headed. I think even Moyes knows and regularly says we need to get and keep the ball better but does he know how to set up, coach and recruit to do that ? Evidence so far suggest no he doesn't. But let's see where we are at the end of this window and who he starts selecting as his first 11. My hope is we improve in getting and keeping the ball which means better and higher pressing but that will depend on recruiting and selecting players that are more mobile and technically proficient ( passing and control ) which arguably means replacing, Soucek, Coufal and Benrahma and even Antonio as first choices? No one says they don't get playing time but we need better starters for these positions imho for us to be able to keep the ball. The ability to transition quickly in midfield and play out is a big problem. We turn it over too easily. More pace and movement and a central midfielder or two getting up and down at pace as we need the ability to get back behind the ball when pushing further up. We will and have got exposed on the counter if we push too far forward and a reason why Moyes reverts to his deep low and mid block system. I suspect ultimately nothing will change drastically until a new manager ones in but am hopeful Moyes gets us up to near 40% possession in some games rather than 20 just to avoid it feeling like the ""Alamo""ù in games against the better teams :-)"
Re: Moyes Out
"I think it's less the attacking football, and more the passivity that is the problem. The teams that do well against the top 6 away from home are the teams that get in their faces, don't give them time on the ball and turn it into a physical battle more than a skill battle. We sit back, give them as much time as they want, all the ball, and the extra talent ends up picking us apart. For me that's the big gripe. I'm not bothered about tiki taka expansive football, but want us to be more aggressive generally instead of sitting on the edge of our area and hoping for a lucky break."
Re: Moyes Out
"My point earlier was that had we not played defensively with our squad in the last few seasons, we probably wouldn't have finished 6th, 7th, 14th and had 3 seasons of European football. Attacking football may be an ideal but I've seen what happens to teams that attack top clubs. They invariably get beaten by the better, more skilful players. All the time Moyseball works and knowing that we can do sweet FA to change it anyway, I'm just happy to start the season well knowing there's more players on the way to improve us further. Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool nor Chelsea we ain't."
Re: Moyes Out
"It's very naive to think that any player goes to a club for footballing reasons over money. Maybe if he gets the choice between two clubs of equal standing for equal money then he might go for the one who plays better football, but more likely he'll go for the one who allows him to showcase his talent better. In the case of someone like Kudus a counter attacking team would be better than a high possession one."
