"Jaan Kenbrovin 9:09 Fri Dec 8 Re: Moyes Out I imagine because he's 60, has managed Man Utd and it didn't go well, and is in his second spell at the club. But you're never one to worry about inconvenient little details like facts."

Think he is doing more then a good job. Wins a cup & wins away at Spurs which all brings great nights to the fans which will be talked about in 40 years time just as us old gits have been keeping on about 75/80 even 86 when we won fuck all . David Cross's 4 goals against the Spurs all the years are ago are fondly remember if you were at the match. Thank god the club is making new history and glory nights to remember for the new younger fans and anyone under 40 . Moyes always puts a shift in and while it not all about him his DNA runs the club top to bottom and he has been proven a winner glory nights is what's its all about and he has delivered.

"Nagel, So you concede that Moyes is playing on a level playing field when it comes to Prem league. It's the same for all teams in the Prem. We all remember how poor we were after the move from the Boleyn before Moyes. Money does not guarantee success, especially when all the other clubs are benefactors of the same cash flow and some have a huge advantage. Some might argue it was easier to qualify for European football when teams like Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa etc were on a more modest budget."

That's right David L the players rebelled and that's why we won. Why is is people with a knowledge of football in the media think Moyes is doing an amazing job yet know nothings on here want him out? All very strange.

David L 5:57 Fri Dec 8 So you're saying it wouldn't have had anything to do with Moyes if we'd lost. You can't have it both ways.

"Don't understand why people keep going on about his record compared to our previous managers. The move to the new stadium, new outside investment and a £100m academy player all changed our Premier League standing, regardless of the manager. In addition to that there has been a growing financial chasm between the Premier League and the rest of the world, which made our recent European campaigns much easier than they would have been a few years ago. It's silly comparing Moyes to anyone else because none of our previous managers have had all the advantages that have been laid on a plate for him."

"How some people quickly forget the utter shit that we've seen for ages due to one very good half of a game, that was most probably due to the players saying fuck this shit and ignoring him. Those 1st half percentage stats must have shocked them into action. How Moyes gets any of the plaudits for last night is beyond me."

"Willtell 4:21 Fri Dec 8 Re: Moyes Out Says the Frog. But aside from you being a bullshitting French twat.... If you're going to have a rational argument here rather than an emotional one you can't just selectively choose which of the results you think are important in a stat like that - a lot of the win percentages for managers like JL or SA, AP etc include games a division lower where we were likely the biggest club there. Agreed that the standard of football isn't good but you can't exclude the positive results side because you don't like it. The same sort of stuff applies to all managers. Historically he is the most successful right now. Whether that's worth is set against the entertainment fact or whether he should be doing even better condsidering the spend is the real question here."

scott_d 3:10 Fri Dec 8 Re: Moyes Out 58 in 148 in the PL = 39% ___ That's a better win percentage than any of our previous Premier League era mangers. Curbishley comes next with 37%.

"We bored Tottenham to the point that they made two fatal mistakes. They also do not have a striker of worth. That said I am delighted to beat them in their NFL stadium, as I am sure are most on this forum. I would also be very satisfied with the boring, negative tactics if they were deployed as and when needed. Unfortunately they are not. We set up like that whoever we play. I am not sure how often before and after the game I heard the phrase ""we have to defend better."" That is the issue I and many others have with Moyes. Upping the tempo doing the same thing worked against Tottenham. Next level would be play smarter, that way we would be consistently competitive."

Also remembering that you get in European competitions by winning games and being at least reasonably successful as a manager.

"Second half was great yesterday in that we won and have shut up their lot who have been waggling their willies out due to wins. I'm not going to be naive to think we beat their best line up and we pretty much had out strongest. If they could have finished we'd have been 3 down by half time, we pretty much did to Spurs what we did to Brighton. Can this be maintained moving in though. Cornet had not had a minute since he came in and created a goal whilst others who've offered nothing get minutes. Where's the incentive. Is this how to run a team? If we play this same squad every match they will crash and burn and injuries will kick in and fixture list shows a rough time. It's these idiotic ways of working that show the limits of Moyes. Moyes lovers keep showing stats and figures but never comment on how poor the football is, it's not enjoyable bar a few moments it's grinding teeth most matches. That one Bilic season I'll hold close to my heart, if we can get a manager to have our players playing like that with a board now supporting a manager and maintains growth I'm all over that. I pray Moyes is let go, I'll enjoy beating that lot though for a while."

"200 games and counting for Moyes in his second spell. He has won 94 of them giving him a win percentage of 47%, easily the best win percentage of any of our permanent managers. We also finished 6th and 7th in two of the three full seasons we have had under him and won a European trophy and stayed up in the other one. The football may be dire at times, but he is certainly doing something right. I can see the board renewing his contract at the end of this season."

"What a great result and second half performance last night. Moyes has earnt this season in my opinion. I don't believe he is the right man beyond this season but to pull that second half performance and result out last night has earnt him the rest of this season. We are five points from fifth. Yes, first half was tragic, and I do feel that eventually it will be performances that will see him moved on rather than results. But you cannot ignore the results and last nights was huge. Well done to Moyes and the players for last night. More of that second half please."
