"We shut Arsenal out, simple as that. We knew how this game was going to be played in terms of possession etc. We defended deep, kept our shape and capitalised on our forays into Arsenal territory. In our own way we controlled the game as much as Arsenal did."

"Make no mistake, Arsenal were absolutely woeful last night. We sat deep, kept our shape very well, defended like Trojans and snuffed out their listless attacks with hardly a hair turned. They basically sang from Moyes's hymn book and our boys set the beat. Moyes has probably earned himself a job at the club until he retires but the future is all about a manager that can build on this base. Any news on Paqueta for the Brighton game?"

Moyes has justified a new contract without question. He is also a decent man.

You can still be angry at him for fielding an under strength team at Liverpool and still be happy we have won our last 3 league games. It's not one or the other. I'm one of those that didn't think we would have won at Anfield. That place is a fortress and is harder to win at than Arsenal imo. Klopp is also a better manager than Arteta. Yes Liverpool rested a few as well but they still had a decent side that contained 3 players that each cost over 60 million. Not forgetting he had Salah primed and ready to come on if the result was in any doubt. That doesn't excuse not giving it a go though. If you are in the quarter finals of the cup and 6 thousand fans are spending their hard earned money and taking time off work to travel up then you should play your best team and Moyes was quite rightly criticised for that. Just like he should be praised for having our best ever Premier League points total at the half way point of a season. In terms of 2023 we have had a good year results wise. We were awful in the first half of last season but the second half we weren't that bad and picked up 25 points which would be a mid table finish along with winning the ECL.

"I'd still like Moyes to be replaced but I can see why many don't. I have really taken a dislike to him especially after watching him being complimented by the interviewer on our four new signings. Moyes replied that ""I've always said that managers survive or fall by their recruitment..."" No mention of Tim Steidten."

"No, Fraser, I'm still very unhappy about the Liverpool surrender and like you say, this shower what our first team can do. That said, and as Goose says, it's not for me, but in the league we are 6th, 4 points off 4th, 9 points off top at the half way stage, and have only won two less games than the top 2, and on that basis, it really is difficult to justify a managerial change. My view is I'd like to see a front foot manager with these players. I think come the end of the season Moyes will actually be happy to go."

"I think you have to understand that as long as he stays we will always play a certain way. If you accept that style of football then you have to accept there will be ""òFulham's'. It's not for me but it's hard to build an argument based on results."

"All I kept seeing last week when he decided to throw the cup QF was ""even with a full strength team we wouldn't beat Liverpool"" but our full strength team just went and won at Arsenal who were also unbeaten at home and a better team. So all those that were angry with him for throwing it are now forgiving him because we've won two league games?"

"York - I'd argue were are almost at that 'next level', better signings overall, going well in the cups, more consistently challenging for top 7 in the PL, its miles better than where we have been post 2000. Its not perfect, infuriatingly so sometimes, but you can't ague against what's in front of you."

"What is this 'next level' that keeps getting mentioned? If it's not winning our first trophy in 43 years and having a record number of points half way through the season, what is it?"

"In the space of a month we've beaten Spurs, Wolves, Man U and Arsenal, yet lost in abject style to Fulham and Liverpool. What's missing is consistency and it infuriates everyone. We need to get more consistency instead of the wild ups and downs. Its not bad enough to sack him and its not good enough to suggest we're going to the next level, although you could argue we've pushed on this season and may be heading in the right direction. Unless we drop off a cliff form wise and are out of every competition and lower mid table come May, I cant see Moyes leaving, and have to think it would be a big risk given what he has achieved"

'The mods should have locked it months ago when I first called for it when it was obvious Moyes is going nowhere until the Summer.' You should quit WHO and join ITBS. Hardly anyone posts on there. You'll love it.

This thread still going for the usual boring idiots to point score? The mods should have locked it months ago when I first called for it when it was obvious Moyes is going nowhere until the Summer. Half way through this league season we have a club record Premier League points total at the half way stage. To have a thread like this still rumbling on is rather embarrassing six months after we won our first trophy for 43 years under the guy.

"when we lose its the managers fault , when we win its down to the players, our fans are abit fickle , everyone loses there head after a loss or a bad team selection but do you think a new manager would be perfect everytime , the grass is not always greener, a new manager could come in everything could crumble and then we go down the watford route with a new manager every few months, if we get top 6 he deserves another year its that simple"

"Manuel 6:03 Tue Dec 26 Re: Moyes Out If we can go to Arsenal and fuck them up, I would have to consider it being OK if he stays at my football club. Sadly, we won't beat Arse, though. So you'll honour this I assume Manuel"

"He was interviewed at the end of the game by Shearer, Defoe, Henry and some bird and was asked about his contract. He said its about to be agreed, then walked away and when the camera stayed on him he did a big blow as if he's just had to tell a story or lie. I think he will get a short extension and get moved upstairs."

"Gets drubbed and slags the club off as small time. Then gets two impressive wins proving we're not. If we qualify for Europe again, he'll have justified another contract. For me though, the higher we finish the better the opportunity to replace him with someone better. Same as any player."
