Re: Moyes Out
"Ahh, the 'we're in Europe' excuse for watching the opposition have the football 75% of the time, home or away against the top teams (justified) and also criminally the teams struggling at the bottom (not justified). In that first season of him getting us into Europe it was watchable, we had a decent press and could almost have control of games home or away, and he got us into the Europa League and for a fair amount of time CL was even possible. Most were pleased West Ham were no longer an easy touch....WELL DONE MOYES. The second season came along with us in the Europa and he flogged his favourites who could play out of position into the ground, the press dropped off a cliff and we became this 'let them have the ball' merchants where they didn't have to be energetic for the whole game this eventually still fucked us over in the Europa Semi final and also helped us miss out on a second go at the Europa but luckily the top teams in our League left us a slot in the Europa Conference (third best token European cup thingy). The third season.....no where near qualifying for Europe by league position so we went all in for the cup we was in and only played one decent team (Fiorentina) to win the whole thing. So this got us upgraded back into the Europa which this time has two of our nemesis clubs in it. This fourth season we know what is now likely to happen seeing the transfer window has been used as a clearout...... In my opinion I'd doubt the PL are even wanting West Ham in Europe again seeing as what a dour advert we are for the English League.....we make Greek teams look the bollock after all......"

Re: Moyes Out
"So the key notes in Moyes defence are - we've been too shit for too many years to expect anything better - totally ignoring the soul-destroying anti-football he forces on fans and players pretty much every game. It's almost as if the same format is applied to justify being a controlling, manipulative miserable old cսnt as a husband and a father at home."
Re: Moyes Out
Sir Alf highlights the progress we have seen under Moyes and Sullivan since leaving Upton Park. We have had such unprecedented success over the last 3 years that he now considers it a sacking offence if we don't get into Europe for a fourth successive season. Doesn't seem so long ago when avoiding relegation was our main focus.

"His ""òcup win' is not the big achievement that Lyall achieved""¶..it as a competition is about as lower level competition you can get when we won it""¶..the achievement was beating Fiorentina in a moment of brilliance from a player insisting on playing football""¶..nothing to do with what Moyes wants to do""¶..he would have continued relying on a set piece."

"Wd40, still hasn't woken up to that ""òcup win' being a single game against decent respectable opposition""¶.."
Re: Moyes Out
"Wd40 - It's shocking isn't it that 13 other clubs finished above us over half of which spent less than us while all of them played better football without having the Moyesiah as their manager... If only we could be as lucky as them... But of course no, if we employ anyone else we'll be even shitter than the low bar that loathsome cսnt has set."
Re: Moyes Out
"Sir Alf Always appreciate - genuinely - your inputs, but would it be possible to show some mercy to your readers by reducing them to more succinct points? As for this thread, it seems that there are two overriding issues. First, and what brings agony not just to Moyes' critics, is the style of play. I think most people agree that it often leaves a lot to be desired. Overly defensive, negative and poor substitutions are the three main criticisms. Second, and what those critics often tend to belittle, is the exceptional progress in league position we've made in the Moyes years. For ages, we've been somewhere between a yoyo club and one that's forever occupied by relegation avoidance. These days. relegation is not on the menu. Instead, we've had regular European qualification and the first silverware since Dexys Midnight Runners (Geno), Michael Jackson (She's Out of my Life), and David Essex (Silver Dream Machine) were in the Top 10. There's No Doubt About It (Hot Chocolate). The halcyon days of Greenwood and Lyall had their fair share of dull games. Don't forget that. I'd like to see a more ambitious approach and more entertainment, but for now Moyes is doing a good job."
Re: Moyes Out
"He has been successful relative to other managers. Its more about if he is the right man to take us forward and can he improve us to make the Europa via the league most years or get closer to the Euro champions league places? Steidten has been brought in to address one of our biggest weaknesses which was recruitment where a ton of money has been wasted and questionable players brought in who have poor resale value. Is Moyes football style and approach aligned to make the most of the better type of players Steidten identifies? If we don't qualify for Europe he goes imo. Or those who support him? How many seasons is he given? 2 seasons not qualifying? 3 ? What then happens to players like Kudus, Paqueta, Alvarez, even Bowen? Will they stick around if offers from teams in Europe are made? I think not. There is then of course the style ir entertainment value. But my opinion is that irs linked to progression from the last 3 seasons. We have to play differently but Moyes has no track record or experience of success playing that way. Im trying to be balanced ( bias is nagging away tho ). For me we have to change to optimise on Steidtens changes but will accept Moyes staying somewhat reluctantly if he can get us into Europe for a 4th season. I would want to see him relinquishing some control too and listening to his back room team like Hertinga who was at Ajax and assume is there to help develop players The next 6 or so weeks are pivotal. Do we maintain our top 7 or 8 standing and or make tye Europa last 16. I think without Paqueta the league position will slide and unlikely we will win the Europa. Hence Moyes has now taken us backwards after 3 progressive seasons. Hes failed. But he makes Europe hes earned the right to carryon Just my opinion"

"I caught a bit of some random preview show earlier and that Brighton carthorse Glen Murphy was also at it asking what West Ham fans want and found it highly 'amusing' that many fans want him out, the woman presenter said to him but they haven't won a game this year, to which he responded by saying well form goes up and down, and yep you guessed it, they are still 7th and in Europe still, how can they not be happy...the bird responded again by saying I think many are not happy with the style of football, to which again he seemingly found hilarious threw his arms up in the air and said maybe they'd be happy if they got Pep then. Absolute cսnt."

"I think a lot of West Ham fans just want to see how these players get on playing in their preferred position dolph""¶""¶then judgement can be made on their ability""¶.instead we buy them in (mainly) for big fees to see them have to reinvent their game in a different position."

Re: Moyes Out
"Guardian article about Moyse https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/feb/10/david-moyes-west-ham-exotic-cultural-antagonist Extract Moyes is basically the last of the anti-possession men, the only current manager to take an active decision to have less, not more, of the ball. West Ham are seventh bottom in Europe's top five leagues on possession percentage this season, and the only team in that company for whom this is a deliberate choice, the only team to have translated so little of the ball into so many points, to remain unexceptional on every metric apart from clearances and goals from set pieces. In this context it is Moyes's team who are the exotics and the cultural antagonists now. L'√âquipe's report on the game against Brighton in August described ""a clash of style that verged on cartoonish""ù as West Ham made 13 passes to Brighton's 221 in the opening half-hour but still won the game."

Re: Moyes Out
"Sir Alf. Why is Moyes not an honest man, and in what way have you noticed an enormous ego?"
Re: Moyes Out
"Alf. Correct in many ways. Moyes will not take us further. The players have said it themselves, Moyes too. He's stated time and time again that the players are knackered. Both Antonio and Paqueta won't be able to play 90 m8ns when back. Phillips it seems will need the rest of the season to get up to speed. What kind of forward thinking is that. I also think he is not the player people think he is. We are judging him on his level 2 years ago .He was to slow in everything to integrate into City's play. He is even to slow to integrate into the slowest passing team in the PL. Moyes has wasted to many players. This is a good read of a proactive manager using one of Our players to succeed. Another player the god awful Moyes has discarded after playing him in his wrong position. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/feb/09/southampton-record-unbeaten-run-russell-martin"
