Frank at Brentford is such a decent modest bloke compared to our arrogant creep of a manager he would be an upgrade and welcome replacement who would immediately get the backing of our fans.

"bagpuss on the radio (guess what station) saying we haven't got the players to play better football. prior to the recent sales, we had a squad with over five hundred international caps yet that saggy faced spurs cսnt says it's not realistic to want better. then he's followed by a clear sullivan plant saying moyes is the best thing to happen to the club"

Here's another fact - Our PL win percentage for the current and last season is 63 games played and only 21 wins. A win percentage of 33.33%. The reason Moyes win percentages look high is because he includes all the Europa and 2 League Cup wins that this season average over 80%....

Don't forget that Lopetegui apparently thought that Ings and Cresswell were the answer for Wolves before he walked.

"In terms of coaching, every single manager on this thread is better tactically than Moyes. I think any coach in the PL could tactically improve our squad. I don't see anything Moyes does that's particularly ground breaking or insightful. I think where Moyes is good is club discipline and structure internally. Which to be fair is equally important. He's obviously a popular person inside the club and in the game in general. I just think he should ""go upstairs""ù or just leave the tactical stuff to coaches with better ideas like Fergie did. Fergie always had assistants do most of the tactical work and relied on some very good coaches. And that's why his arrogance and ego get the better of him. I think when Irvine was working more closely with him in his 1st season back here was the best he's ever done. Maybe Irvine the only person he actually listens to. The team was also tactically more adventurous and they created something that looked like a system. As that was running out of steam a bit he got in lingard and kept it going. But in the 2 second season back he racked up a load of points before Xmas and then just dropped like a stone. The football just got shittier and shittier until we got where we are now. We haven't really recovered our mojo since then. The euro comps against shitty competition has masked over our poor team play and kept Moyes afloat. I really think now Irvine was responsible for his early performance. And he's just busy trying to make it look like it was him all along. Probably why he refused to listen to wharbuton. Feels like he needs to be right."

"Lopetegui fan here. Really liked what he did with Sevilla, has a high win percentage most places he manages. He also has principles, which is why he walked away from the Wolves job having been lied too regarding their financial situation. Granted it means he'd then have to work with our serial bullshitting Chairman and could ultimately be the stumbling block that prevents us getting him. He'd certainly be an upgrade on Moyes, that's for certain."

"His win ratio at Sevilla was 53% over 170 games. He won the Europa League beating Roma, Manchester United and Inter Milan. Moyes is at 45% with West Ham. He won the conference league beating nobody of note."

I guess my point is that I'm not sure winning the Europa League with serial winners Sevilla before being sacked a handful of months later makes him a fantastic coach. If it does then Moyes must also be close

Ramos is almost 70 and hasn't coached since 2016. Rafa is past his best. AVB maybe. At some point all 3 were fantastic coaches and have won loads. I'm not sure what your point is.

Onsideman - 3 of those are (or were) fantastic coaches. Carsley to my knowledge has never managed a top flight team.

Well that fantastic coach had a win percentage significantly lower than the bloke who replaced him so I'd still take the replacement if it's all the same

"I can absolutely see the appeal of a manager with the integrity to walk away after broken promises. It gives Sullivan no hiding place. Moyes for his many, many faults is a dream for Sullivan. He loves small squads, and he always protects him with the whole ""I have to say, we tried really really hard to strengthen the squad but we just couldn't get it over the line""ù bollocks. For all his bravado and arrogance, Moyes knows he's beyond lucky tl be at this club. It's why he's playing the desperation hand of look what I've achieved now. The big question on Lopetegui is whether he plays a positive brand of football. I honestly don't know."
