Re: Moyes Out
Yes agree Willtell. Does anyone have a conversation with Sullivan about these things? He created a DOF or Tech Director position so hopefully he understands? And surely he would have asked Steidten what his football philosophy was and realised it was 180 degrees different to Moyes Steidten has to be given a chance to do a DOF job or is that too progressive for Sullivan and he called him a Technical Director because he just wanted another version of Newman to see if he could stop us wasting 10s of millions with poor recruitment? Of course not seeing that his Manager is the one demanding older players on high wages and no sell on value
Re: Moyes Out
"That's correct Sir Alf. Interestingly there's a full page article in today's Daily Mirror by Robbie Savage of all people. Apparently he's the Sporting Director of Macclesfield Town in the Northern PL. Funny when you think back to how sporting Robbie was as a player (not!). It does make several useful points about the job of DOF though and they apply to WHU. It starts by comparing the errors Man Utd have made relying on managers player selections when compared to Liverpool's relative success. And he points out that Man Utd are now paying £21m to sign Newcastle's DOF. It goes on to include real world points that are a lesson for our board - ""Yes there will be differences of opinion, but I will have the final say. If I make a wrong call it's on me - but once the squad is assembled, it's the manager who moves the chess pieces around the board and takes responsibility for selection, performances and results."" ""Alignment is another essential ingredient in a club's synergy. Clearly you can't have a DOF who preaches playing out from the back and a manager that favours direct, long ball tactics. Team management is the head coach's domain. It is up to him to get the best out of his players."""
Re: Moyes Out
"I've been thinking for a while that our whole future relies on Steidten being successful. Its about buying well and smartly, developing players ( home grown and from elsewhere). Above all else a philosophy or identity needs to take shape which are actually implemented. All teams in the club should adhere to the footballing philosophy or style, whatever we call it and makes the whole task of players transitioning from youth to U18s, U21 and first team easier as they have been schooled in a way of playing from a young age. Its the only way a club nowadays can get to a ""next level""ù and optimise their financial reach of budget. Punching above our financial weight or resources to try and get closer to thise clubs who have created a barrier or ceiling via their brand and commrrcual revenues via years of European qualificatiion and/or used the years before FFP to create a gap to the chasing clubs like us, Villa, Newcastle etc. It is a multi year strategy and will take a whioe and totally depends on continually getting recruitment right and for a whole selling some players for a big profit to keep the level of investment high. Rice and Paqueta woukd be examples. Eventually we hopefully get to a level where that is not necessary but for a while thats the only way for clubs like us I think? What is absolutely critical though is that everyone is onboard. The owners, the DOF, the coaches and all the players in all teams. Sullivan and owners at 76 has to hand over the operational side of the football side of the business to Steidten and it is critical that Moyes goes and we get a coach in who shares the philosophy / vision. Sullivan has a chance to leave a good legacy if he lets go of the reigns and backs Steidten and of course if Steidten gets it right. Risks of course but its now or never. For once will we take the right steps and modernise etc?"
Re: Moyes Out
"Our owners may be 4th richest in the league but they treat the club like an inconsequential football manager video game. They demonstrate none of the qualities associated with a successful business. They spend, they do not invest; there is little ambition, survival will do; there is no vision or strategy to achieve it apparent; there is no consistency in appointments aligned to any long term vision, look at the different types of manager we have had yo-yoing from attack to defence, chaos. They talk in terms of customers which is disrespectful to supporters; they appear to run by committee rather than with leadership; they persist with a dire manager who delivers dreadful football and is now getting the results such an approach deserves. They talk in terms of a world class stadium, tell me where it is please? They talk in terms of attracting the best players in the world but could not match the ambition of our best home grown talent and only hung on to our best import because of an alleged betting offence. The training ground is so high on the ownership agenda that it was alleged the buxom one wanted to build a hotel there and the signage is consistent with the opening credits from Fawlty Towers. Moyes needs to go as he is a busted flush but, above all, the club needs to develop some values and have a worthwhile culture worthy of the supporters and delivering sustainable growth."

Re: Moyes Out
"Collectively, our owners are the 4th richest in the league, and Sullivan over recent years has more than put out where the funds are concerned. As Newcastle have shown wealthy owners no longer means dropping wads of cash, as these new sustainability rules are screwing anyone with pretentions of going for the big splurge. Why now more than ever it's important to have a low net spend and generate your own funds from sales."

Re: Moyes Out
The gaps in the squad are so glaring . I cannot see how a two bob shitehawk like Sullivan can fill them ..he's in way over his head I just hope richer owners are coming in .if not I fear for us next season .

Re: Moyes Out
"The dream is Arne Slot and a 200 million spend on Steidten targets which unfortunately only happens if we sell Paqueta. A full refresh of the squad required as its been put together to play one way by Moyes. Roy Keane describes West Ham as old and slow. The architect for this is Moyes and why he's painted himself into a corner. Only 13 or 14 players get minutes and tgey will be playing a lot, and be knackered in a few weeks time"

Re: Moyes Out
"Problem with Zouma is that he's not a great captain/ leader who rallies the team when needed, so if he's also crocked I'd rather Ogbonna starting and captaining the side. It's been an issue since Noble retired imho."
Re: Moyes Out
I wonder if we got a discount for that? Wasn't reported but not surprised as Don Hutchison said on commentary that Zouma has had crippled knees for 5 years which takes us back before joining us...
Re: Moyes Out
"Well according to the BBC report on the game WH had 42% possession in an away European tie which hardly suggests we had to face ""wave after wave after wave of relentless defending"" (Attacks?) I watched the game and we were in control actually. We'd nullified them until they brought on a sub who scored because Alvarez made a poor pass then Zouma fell asleep ball watching..."

Re: Moyes Out
"Zouma aint the problem, it's the amount of attacks all our defensive players have to constantly endure is. Wave after wave after wave of relentless defending against quick tricky players would wreck even the most spring chicken youth we have at our disposal (not the Moyes would ever use them mind/injury prevention genius)."

Zouma's knee injury has fucked him and he now moves like a man with a wooden leg Has to be moved on in the summer but doubt he would pass a medical

Re: Moyes Out
"Moyes dragged us down to new depths last night. Bringing Phillips on to hold onto being one goal down. The dirty, spineless Jock cսnt. At least the fat fucking walrus headed northern cսnt defended a 1-0 lead. Moyes needs dragging out to pasture. Someone at the club needs to be responsible and stop this toxic mess dragging us down further."

Re: Moyes Out
"Any other manager brings Antonio on the moment they scored, but instead he brought on a DM for a creative midfielder and puts Antonio on in Injury time. Saying that, any other manager would have better attacking options in the first place and would ply our best players in their best positions."

Re: Moyes Out
"the press conferences get more bizarre. on the official youtube channel they're now editing the footage. the room seems to be full of sycophantic cunts that continually kiss his arse and manage his ego. he's also started, after every question, to look across to some utter fucking penis from the club, also sitting at the desk, to see if it's ok to answer the question. clown world on steroids"
