Actually, when I go back I like to go up on Primrose Hill and sit there basically gobsmacked at the power of it all. Greenwich Park is good for that too, especially when the ‘shrooms are in season

I’ve never been to the NHC, (Sitter). As a Londoner at the time, it was one of those things I tended to see as over-commercial and would avoid. Kind of regret that now looking back.

Apologies, I misread your post.
I would still love to hear all about your experiences of it though, and gain an insight into handling yourself properly.

People leave & more come. Different places have different positives & negatives & suit people at different stages of their lives.
What is YOUR nomination for the greatest city in the world? And what does it have that London doesn’t?
And why don’t you live there?

Your son probably felt so at home as there’s more Jam Rolls in London nowadays than English!

Funny he went in spring, because Carnival is in August.
the ocean he saw wasn’t English btw.
at least he didn’t piss his pants and cry this time.

Re: The Notting Hill Carnival
Every time I travel back to the UK, I find myself liking London less and less - it's certainly not evolved into the city as I had hoped it would.
Thankfully the Elizabeth Line means only 2 changes of train on the journey from Heathrow to Belverdere, or one change and a taxi from Romford if I pop in to see my brother in Hornchurch first.

It IS the greatest city in the world though
The only people who say this are people who are ideologically invested in the political ideals they think the modern city represents, and they usually don't live here. Usually the same for those that say they like the carnival.
I live in London but it is not the greatest city in the world by most measures. It's a difficult city to live in, increasingly dangerous and most people eventually leave. It has its pleasures but if it was the 'greatest city' people wouldn't leave in the numbers they do.

Pickle hasn’t been Carnival, but has been bummed by a priest.

No you need to look at sex crimes in London vs Lecce because that’s the comparison you div.

Could you explain the logical process you used to come to that conclusion?
You can use diagrams or algebraic expression if it makes things easier.
Apparently me preferring Lecce to London is me being entirely comfortable with crimes by the Catholic Church.
So preferring London makes you comfortable with any crimes committed in London.

A bit ahead of your suggestion of the pretty little backwater of Lecce
Again nothing backed up by any facts. I gave you a list of better cities but instead of actually discussing the point you just make poor jokes about places you’ve never been.
like I said previously to you
culture
beauty
crime (lack of violent and sex crimes)
weather
food
community
value for money
Lecce knocks spots off London.
but yeh you can go watch Charlton Athletic or mamma Mia any time you want. Just don’t go out on your own at night if you’re female.
