I'd love to know which ones as it's benn confirmed that none of them were Howe, Potter, Dyche, Cooper, Lampard, O’Neil and Martin.

I wonder if they even interviewed any English managers at all. All those who you would have thought may be on this list of 8 or 10 they claim to have interviewed have come out and said i wasn't one of them? Potter and Howe who you would have thought would have been the top English candidates have both said publicly they were not.

Maybe the FA had in mind johnny foreigner from the start? Not sure i blame them both Howe and Potter have limited success really and won fuck all, the latter getting the boot from Chelsea and hasrt worked since, who else is there Dyche, Oneil, Lampard, Gerrard, Carsley, all of whom are well below standard and bang average at best and all seem to be saying they were not approached...............

Don't have a problem with Tuchel getting the job but is sad Englishman don't seem to make top class football managers and haven't for a good few years,

I just think it's the cheap, lazy appointment. They didn't want to stump up for paying compo, Tuchel was out of work, with a good record on paper. But for me the stand out candidate that should have been approached was Howe. The public seemed to want him and most importantly so did he. He's never made it a secret he'd love the job and his relations with new sporting director Paul Mitchell had been strained since he rocked up at Newcastle. The FA should have coughed up the £6M and they'd be little qualms by anyone had the FA done so. 

For now, he'll just have to bide his time for another opportunity. Fuck knows when that'll be now..

The FA approached Newcastle and asked if they can talk to Howe and they said no. They then said to the FA they can approach him but it will cost them £6m in compo, they agreed but Howe never went back to them for talks. It was also being discussed yesterday. 

So what have the FA done wrong? And you would be happy for the FA to pay £6m in compo for a bloke who was literally won fuck all just because he is English, rather than select a bloke that has won it all because he is German. 

Weird. 

Like I said, the FA didn't want to stump up the compensation and didn't contact Howe as they had no intention to interview him, even though he's the best Englishman currently around doing a decent job at Newcastle.

As for Tuchel, again he's being vastly overrated by his achievements and how he achieved it. Won it all? Which major Trophies exactly were all of them? Like I previously stated he won the Bundesliga, just, after Nagelsmann had done the lionshare of the work for his 1 Bundesliga with the German winning machine Bayern at the time. Or Chelsea's Champions League win, even though he had no input in getting out the group stages achieved by Lampard, as well as do it during Covid times with extremely limited attendance akin to Pre-season atmospheres which makes the win even more hollow and with the embarrassment of riches Squad at his disposal under Abramovich. Again, he won trophies for PSG where many other's achieve likewise due to the gulf in squad/money by comparison to others. So when you actually scratch beneath 'winning all' there is in the game, it's not half as impressive as some like to think it is. A CV that actually includes coming 3rd behind even Stuttgart before he got the boot soon after (a running theme of his managerial career - how's short his England contract again, 18 months..).

The other thing that stood out to me about The FA  appointing such an elite manager in Tuchel is offering him only an 18 month contract which screams of The FA themselves of not being overly confident of their own appointment for a number of reasons; be it results, will controversial Tuchel with a history of quickly falling out with hierarchy and/or the Job, or that the appointment itself jars with how the Nation takes to him. To put it into context, Gareth Southgate's 1st proper senior England contract was for 4 years.

Not at all surprised and expected nothing less from a clueless FA who fail to read the room of the nation. 

A Kraut or an Argie are the absolute non-negotiables when hiring an England National Manager. Fuck, we struggled as it was (rightly) with not accepting a confused plastic Paddy that refused to sing our National Anthem and now they go and compound the situation further by hiring a fucking German instead! (who also will refuse to sing the National Anthem, understandably)

I did laugh though when a clever Journo who chose to ask his question in German, catching all the 3 clowns off guard in the Press Conference, only to shoot him down by demanding that questions should only be in English from now on. Well, dickhead, if that makes you feel deeply uncomfortable and jars with how it looks and sounds in a straightforward question put forward to a German, then really the answer was always a cunting no, you thick woke pen pushing twat...

As for Tuchel being an "elite" manager, I think is vastly overrated anyway. Look at his body of work closely and you'll find it's not half as impressive as some like to make him out to be.

Thing's like winning during Covid when they're weren't fans in the stands and with Clubs heavily bankrolling in achieving that success like PSG, Abramovichs Chelsea, Bayern League, although only took charge of the last few games at the arse end of the season when most of the hard work had already been done by his predecessor. So once you strip a lot of that back and dig in to his achievements, they're good but highly over the top with how he's regarded as a world class manager and one of the very best around. He really isn't anything of the sort. I think in his proper full season with Bayern Munich he could only finish 3rd behind 2nd place Stuttgart for fuck sake!

He was impressive in his presser yesterday, pumped up and seemed excited, I quite liked Southgate but it did make me feel quite excited for the world cup listening to him and seeing his energy, it's gonna be interesting. One thing he did mention a few times was that he's only use to day to day involvement with clubs so admitted he's not sure how he will find this type of role and is one reason why he hasn't signed a longer deal. At lease he was being honest.

As for where he was born, I'd prefer an Englishman but if there isn't anyone decent then what do you do, although the question would the German FA employ as Englishman does give you food for thought as they probably wouldn't. History is also against him as an overseas manager has never won the world cup.

i’d never have gone for him for England though, no matter how good.

It’s a massive failing of the FA and English football in general. All the money in the game, yet  we can’t nurture English talent to manage clubs at a level that can warrant the national job.

Southgate was hardly a golden boy of football when he took the job.
