WHUFC West Ham vs Nott'm Forest | League | 2.11.24 | Predictions & Lineup

Post stubbo-admin »

So what do we think this week.  Didn't think much of Forest until I looked into their team and they look to have some pretty talented players and setup in a way that could well be Lopetegui's kryptonite!  Pacey wingers, sit deep, hit on the counter...all things that have fucked us repeatedly this season.

Plus Chris Wood on form who always gets one against us.

Anyway, gonna stay optimistic and predict a 1-0 to us, but at this point would be happy with a draw.

Team I'd pick:

GK Fabianski

RB Wan Bissaka
RCB Todibo
LCB Kilman
LB Emerson

RCM Soucek
CDMRodriguez
LCM Alvarez

RF Bowen
CF Paqueta or Ings or Antonio
LW Summerville

I'd be tempted to play Paqueta at CF...he's no worse than Antonio at keeping the ball, Antonio won't out-muscle Milenkovic, and he'd be more likely to play in the wide players (plus with the three that finished in midfield against Man Utd, we lack someone that can pass).

What say the rest of you?

Agree with Mex M to start with the second half players against Manu.
With a few changes i would like to see a 451 lineup like this:

,.................Fabianski
Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson
...........Alvarez, Rodriguez
Bowen....... Soler.......Summerville
.....................Ings

Soler selection based on:
Soucek is no cam, and we dont need three cdm's.
Paqueta need to be rested and clear8isnt good enough atm. I would actually pick Irving before Paq...

What a stupid comment, and you can't even back it up with any stats. yea let's put superstars Rodney and the male model in there doing sweet fa, ffs....or Paqueta for that matter.
Just watch us, that's all you need to do. Too scared to get on the ball. Fucks off up front hiding from it. Doesn't press, can't pass, doesn't play well alongside anyone mainly because he doesn't work with them at all.

How many more shit games does the bloke have to have?

If you bothered to see my team I don't have Paqueta in it either.
Don't get me wrong, I don't rate him highly at all, like most, and I'm not saying he should defo start, but looking at his competition i.e Paqueta, Soler, Rodney, it would hardly be outrageous to start him, at least he 'might' pop up with a goal and can be useful in defense. let's be fair, overall he's been alright this season.

Would you have you kept JWP?

I forgot to add Soucek also scoring the only goal of the game in a 0-1 win in a banana skin fixture away at Lincoln in the Cup to go with the rest of that lot within the past year.

In 7 Away victories he starts in all of them, he scores in 5 of them and away wins against 3 tough London Derbies.

Or Burnley v West Ham when he scored the match winner last season, or when we won away at Wolves, or scoring a screamer in the win at Goodison, or when he scored in our win at the Emirates against Arsenal at Christmas, or indeed when we won away at Spurs with him playing all match and starting in all of them. And that's just within the last year. Fucking useless Czech cսnt.

That's the problem with our fans, he pops up with a goal every so often and it masks the fact he is mainly useless.  13 completed passes that day in 78 mins....

Against a in form Forest side I want midfielders who have the bollocks to get on the ball and some ability when they do so. Soucek is a passenger, like playing with 10 men

Same winning team from 2nd half against ManU for me.

Fabianski
Wan Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson
Alvarez, Soucek, Rodriguez
Bowen, Antonio, Summerville

Still having a bit of trouble to understand how a midfield of Alvarez, Soucek and Rodriguez was better, especially in attack than Alvarez, Paqueta, Rodriguez. The proof was in the two halfs. Although I think a lot was also to do with Summerville replacing Soler to have 3 players effectively attacking the box instead of 2.

Anyway, against my desire to fill the field with recognised attacking players, I'd like to see if that team can do it again.

first off im going to be pedantic😑 its Nottingham Forest VS West Ham, that is an away game.......not a home game like the title suggests...................*only joking Subbo son!!! 😁

As to line up and scoreline, fuck knows, but we been here before! That is bounced back from a bad deafeat (Spurs) to then get a win, only to see that the expected progress has not been made and we take a step back, hopefully we get back to back wins, Forest though have been decent at times and a good few points ahead of us, going to be tough but apart from Spurs our away results have been ok, granted its early days season wise.

fingers crossed for the Hammers win.

Sir Alf" wrote: 31 Oct 2024, 20:57 I would agree that playing Soler in his correct position needs to be tried before totally writing him off but he does seem well off the pace of the Premiership. Paqueta’s position is where he plays isnt it?  If so, its time to give him some decent amount of minutes there. If he continues to be anonymous then it would seem he is not up to playing in the Prem.

In terms of Forest, they are perfectly set up tactically to exploit our glaring lack of pace in central midfield to recover on transitions ( counter attacks ).  We dont have the players to play the high line we do with wing backs very high too to counter press when we lose it in the opposition half.

Nuno is doing what he was successful at when with Wolves for 2 seasons after they were promoted.  Identical to Moyesball. Sit with 9 in a low block deep, keep compact and make it very hard to pass thru and around. Only the very best at possession football can do it ( City etc ).  Nuno only lost his job at Wolves after trying to evolve to a keeping possession which didnt work. He did that because Wolves fans were fed up with seeing the team sit back and het no possession until the 70th minute. 2 Forest fans I know say they are liking the results but the football is a hard watch. Sound familiar? 🥴

We will over commit and get caught on the counter its almost inevitable.  Alvarez, Soucek, Rodruiguez all one paced.  I think we will struggle to create anything and be unable to stretch them even with Summerville down the left.

A low scoring game but unfortunately there is nothing to say we wont concede at least 1 based on what we’ve seen with Lope’s high line tactics.  A 1-0 loss would be my guess
Good post that Alf, and that's how I see it unfolding. On paper we look like cannon fodder for them, but fortunately, even though the game is highly tactical now ''on the day'' still plays a part i.e. some individual brilliance, a bit of luck, keeper has a blinder etc, can all potentially play a part, but yea all being even I see a tough day at the office.

PS: I'm not sure you really know any Forest fans :-)

Haven't watched them but have read similar about their fast attack. I would like to think that our team is settling down and we should beat an outfit like this. If they can perform like that second half again Man U we should score goals. But I am still worried about how vulnerable the defence is. So I got for a high score draw.

Stubbo’ line up with Antonio starting up front.

The Spirit of the Saint has done with Forest what we have needed for several seasons and made them hard to score against ( only Liverpool have conceded fewer EPL goals to date ). Though Forest are not prolific in attack their rate of conceding less than a goal per game, on average, has put them in seventh place with only one defeat to date.

Their record means that for me the sensible best I can forecast is a draw, be happy with a point.

Rossal’s team except Paqueta for Rodriguez. I still believe he has it in him to win games for us while, let’s face it, Guido does not.

Draw is best we can hope for.  Whoever was responsible for signing Fullcrock and Soslow mus be acutely embarrassed and should be sacked.

Apart from Fullkunt and the suspended Kudus out, we have a clean bill of health.

Forest have a few out including our loanee Ward-Prowse and Gibbs-White looking very unlikely.

Oct 31: 'Morgan (Gibbs-White) is one of the players inside that group that we have to assess and see how he is. Chris (Wood) also, and Elliot (Anderson) and Jota (Silva). They all have knocks.'

Intrigued to know why. I think he's fucking hopeless

After trying to convince the world that bringing Summerville on at half-time when defenders were tiring was part of some master-plan, you should expect the unexpected from Lopetegui

As of yet in the Premier League no one has but then again I also think he hasn't had much of a proper chance to show what he's about yet by starting games from the off centrally and not coming off the bench or stuck out wide to really show what he's all about.

My main concern about him isn't his ability but whether he can successfully adapt to the pace of the Premier League but he does need to be given a chance 1st before coming to that conclusion just yet.

What I saw of him playing for Valencia in particular I think will pleasantly surprise others should he get back to that level of performance. He has plenty of goals and the ability to make them in his locker too should he regain that form.

He needs a run of games for a chance to show it, not bits and pieces of cameos mainly from the bench. And with Paqueta so woefully out of form theres no better chance really than to play him in his absence.
