WHO vs. KUMB
I had a look on KUMB yesterday and was struck by how much more active it is in on there. Multiple West Ham related threads, decent debate and much more activity.
This site remains moribund despite the good work setting up the new site. Seems the owners held out too long before sorting the server issue and the site has suffered as only a handful of active posters remain, many of whom are abusive keyboard warriors who offer nothing but hatred and pettiness.
I'm seriously tempted to bin off this site and switch to KUMB, and I can't be the first. Something needs to be done.

Re: WHO vs. KUMB
I've never really liked it over there. It's so boring, could pass for a forum of Palace fans.
WHO is a bit more reflective of the fanbase I have always known.
But yeah, in the 2000s this place was extremely funny. Not so much these days.

Good point about the YT channels, folk can watch them instead and them comment if they so wish.

Re: WHO vs. KUMB
Anoraks and cardigans are mandatory on kumb aren't they?
I'm incredulous that some of those people are West Ham fans.
I think all forums have declined, going the same way as fanzinnes as it's all youtube channels now.

Re: WHO vs. KUMB
I can’t say that I prefer KUMB, but this site has seen a big swing from debate to abuse and I really don’t understand why that is. I guess it’s up to the mods to run the site how they want to, but we can disagree with others and remain a bit civil.

You doing that would be a major improvement.

This Board has more or less lost its anarchic humour it used to have and what is left is something boring, repetitive and unimaginative.
Maybe the only thing that could be of help would be a return of the black font facility. Posters would come on here for a laugh back then but we’ve lost all that and need it back.
Comma.

kylay wrote: ↑08 Nov 2024, 19:39 Site traffic is admittedly down, but this site is unquestionably better than KUMB. COYI's torrent of negative, attention-seeking posts would be moderated out of existence on day 1 over there. Given time and space to breathe, this place will find its wings again. We'll have Blagg's Advent calendar in 22 days, and all and sundry will come out for that.
WHO is the only forum I know that is semi - normal.
Kumb and their band of melts are a fucking embarrassment to me.

Re: WHO vs. KUMB
Yes I agree the format doesn’t appear the same as old site. I came off kumb a long time ago probably when they too changed their site and the posters became dull and boring whereas who had a bit more edge to it

Eh? That stuff was all there on the previous site. We've literally copied that aspect of the layout.

Is it because you're browsing on your mobile and seeing the mobile layout, whereas old site only had desktop so you probably zoomed in and just cut off the right two columns?
If so just go into your mobile browser settings (top right) and click to view the Desktop layout....then you can zoom in to just thread titles and posters names like the old site without the mobile responsiveness.I know what he means though Stubbo. On my tablet the actual post gets pushed to the left side. Roughly a third of the screen is Poll and Latest WHU news, a third is the posters name, number of posts, likes and that shit also a lot of white space, depending on the length of the post. And a third over to the left is the actual posts all squeezed up.
Not complaining, at least this forum works, the old one was getting unusable. Really good work and all that. Thanks
Can you send me a screenshot? And a screenshot of the old site layout I linked...I can see the difference then and if I can reconfig any of the columns...as I'm under the impression there is very little in it, but happy to try and improve if there is a notable difference.
