"We always have problems with CBs especially injuries. You wouldn’t think Aguerd to be a disappointment and Zouma being fragile, Mav has a mistake in him nearly every game. More work to do with the squad next season than I thought. RB, LB….."

"It's weird that as an ex-centre back, Moyes has absolutely no idea whatsoever how to either identify or coach one As I've said previously, whoever is selected, our centre back pairing is the worst it's been for years and years....and our first choice fullbacks are just OK, but only when they're playing at the top of their game and there is no effective back up (despite Cresswell's Freiberg cameo)"

"Two things: Sir Alf - I like your post. A voice of reason and logic. Re our poor defending: the issue we have with so-called Moyesball is our surrendering of possession invites teams on to us. The stats for saves made by Areola are one of the highest in the Prem, which probably reflects the amount of intercepting and defending the backs have to endure in 90 minutes. This puts too much pressure on the back 6 who are offered little relief in games - including against the likes of Burnley last week."

"Our defending has not been very good for a couple of seasons, if ever, and it is a weak point of Moyes stewardship. From consecutive seasons of his with a positive goal difference we have slipped. A clean sheet tomorrow is unlikely but our defending from a passive set up is not serving us well."

"I want Moyes gone too and I hope the appointment of Steidten is a boardroom attempt to drag us into the modern world of a club’s fortunes not relying on a one-in-a-million manager like Ferguson. However, I am prepared to accept that a good finish could see Sullivan chicken out of a decision for the longer term benefit when he’s mid seventies. Let’s be honest that he’s unlikely to see the benefit or more likely to mess up a new appointment."

"Our next 5 games are against good attacking free scoring teams, it's our defence that will make the difference. Our CBs are all error or injury prone. Ogbonna seems the only reliable one but unlikely to play as not match sharp and too old, slower than before. Our full backs are also very average defensively so it looks like we will revert to Moyesball deep block for the foreseeable. Oh I don't know........"

"While the insults and trolling are quite amusing (in a school playground kind of way) it would be good to hear a reasoned, well articulated case for Moyes now we have appointed a DOF or Technical Director with a footballing philosophy 180 degrees from the manager. Because its just not a recipe for success and more for disaster with scouting / recruitment, coaching and tactics not aligned. For me, my humble opinion only of course, Moyes has done a decent job but with the much voiced “trade offs” in terms of not getting the best from resources and not developing a squad and playing an unentertaining brand of football ( not all) but most of the time. If we get into Europe or by a miracle win the Europa he stays though. Success deserves reward even if it us via ugly methods sometimes. Otherwise, the only way for him to stay in post is to accept being a modern day coach and leave Steidten to do the recruiting. He would also need to be far less reticent about using the resources ( esp attacking ) at his disposal and imposing what looks like bias with selections. But that seems to be who he is? Very insecure? All this seems highly unlikely and qualifying for Europe or winning the Europa are hardly givens. All will come to fruition in the next 4-6 weeks though and realistically I expect a new manager in place next season."

Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread - Preview
For us to win under Moyes we generally need: Them to have a less tactically aware a manager than Moyes (a rarity) Or Our team to be much better than theirs on paper to make up the deficit of tactical nous. Or Our players turn up individually and theirs don't. Or Be lucky. We can easily discount the top two against Villa. Sqauds are on par but we're not significantly better on paper. Emery wipes the floor with Moyes tactically. So we need some individual brilliance and/or be lucky. We have the players for some magic but we have mostly relied on being lucky so far this season that we haven't conceded a lot more. I feel a win is unlikely. A draw would be decent. Just leave Moyes FFS. cսnt.

Len must be on his period. Screaming about what are actually calm discussions kind of says he’s going against his own comments…

Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Aston Villa - Official Match Thread - Preview
It's going to be very difficult for Moyes to make any unnecessary changes from a team that won a vital game 5-0. Areola for Fabianski apart of course.

"Tough one this. We know what does not work (first half against Burnley) We know what could work (Second half against Burnley, Freiburg, Brentford) Whatever, despite being a defence first setup, we ain't good at it and we've leaked like a sieve this year. I think if we try and sit back against Villa we'll get picked off and if we let the handbrake off we might get done against their pace. Heart: Narrow Win Head: Loss"
