I liked him proper old school politician. Unlike 99 % of the careerists around today . Also opened the centenary stand at Upton park if I remember correctly.

Interesting to see Blair, Mandelson and Campbell all speak well of him when they would never invite him anywhere socially as they all looked down on him. Blair used him to bring the old working-class Labour voters along with the New Labour project to hide the fact the party was now thoroughly middle-class. 

Prescott in turn humiliated his loyal wife. How a man treats his wife is always a good indication of a man's character.

But RIP John. At least you were a character which is more than you can say for the current lot.
