Its been a long time since pretty much all of us have been so resigned to defeat before a game as this and the next game against Arsenal. There has been no sign to give any hope over the previous 12 games, Factor in also that Alvarez is out and he's unfortunately the best we've got in defensive midfield ( low bar ) and the quickest of him, Soucek, Rodriguez. Paqueta is being played too high and should be alongside the defensive midfielder but again is pedestrian. Soler is a player that needs workers and "legs" around him and that is something West Ham just don't have. Watched Mancs yesterday against Ipswich, they actually have the same issue in central midfield but more options obviously.
Kudus is out still so relying on Bowen or Summeville for some individual brilliance because the over run, slow moving, outpaced midfield will struggle to give them any service.
On top of all this we have a coach who is like King Kanute trying to stop the ocean by playing a suicidal high line and his quickest defender as an advanced right winger and expects him to create lots of assists. Wan Bassaka has created one chance despite the most touches in advanced areas of all our players. But Loppy will continue with the same tactics or at least he has until now.
But those expecting Sullivan to act will be disappointed I fear. Sullivan's fragile ego will mean he acts too late and sacrifice another 6 - 12 points at least.
So lads, get a chair set up behind the sofa and don a tin hat. For those going tonight, what can we say other than saluting you for your commitment. Sullivan doesnt deserve fans like you. But he's 76 and surely cannot go on fvcking things up much longer? I used to be angry with him but now pity the bloke. He really wants West Ham to be successful especially after tasting European football but success has to be seen in part down to his direct involvement rather than as a facilitator only via the financial side. His need for appreciation and validation gets the better of him always. He's been stumping up the money in recent times ( although a lot of that was down to extra Euro revenue ) but he just cannot let go. Steidten has not covered himself in glory either but until the little man removes himself from football matters everyone from Tech Director, coaches and players is compromised. IMHO as always
