I was always confident

Dropping into a back 5 was part of what was different but energy levels were much better.  Once we scored we dropped deeper and it helped.  Second half we actually created a few decent chances and the goal was really well worked.

Soler was the surprise for me. He seemed a lot fitter and with Paqueta they kept the ball moving very well and was pressing well too.  On the subject of pressing its the first game we did it.

Lopetegui looked like a desperate homeless man with 3 days growth, He should keep that look?  Scared the players into a performance esp, 2nd half

Thought we were excellent tonight. 
Fabianski, Soler and even Antonio men of the match. 

Love him or hate him, we get better results with Soucek in the side. Thought he was great tonight.

Think it's not to be underestimated the leadership Soucek brings to the pitch...did a lot of organising and talking in central midfield.

Strongest performance of the season so far, that.

We even ditched that STUPID tactic of tucking the full-backs close to the centre halves when our opponents have the ball. Look what happens when you let full-backs move vertically rather than sideways - we even got a goal out of AWB!

Can't complain about that performance. Really good effort. More of the same, please.

Newcastle were not great, especially second half.

But, hats off to Antonio yet again, he's been the one who never drops his head and keeps going.  Soucek probably had his best all round game tonight and Bowen and Summerville tortured them when they tried to go after us

That’s a fabulous result way against expectation. Well fucking played to each of them. Rode our luck but really grew into it and I think bossed the second half mostly, playing some good stuff. Still looking to be positive and score again right to the end as well. Paqueta like a new man in particular. I’m pleased for Lop. More of the same please. 

And that utter cսnt Wilson didn’t score. 

Lets hope this is corner turned but a bloody tough test at the weekend incoming.

well......this has been superb....can't remember a half where we've dominated like this. Cant remember the words 'West Ham have dominated possession' in a commentary for I dont know how long.
