Sort of understand but not really sure whether Rodriguez is even worth trying anymore. I have never seen anything from him.
fulkrug needs match fitness so I get that.

I feel that Summerville should be a starter for us rather than an impact sub.
would have preferred we went at them. I don’t understand playing with 2 defensive mids , said that last week as well. It’s just not necessary.

Fingers crossed

Very surprising. Rodruiguez and Stavros?

Todibo is not 100% still I guess?  Not sure why Lop has reverted to the statuesque Rodriiguez though unless we are going to sit deeper and play on the counter in a Moyes style.

Lets hope Fullkrug is a bit fitter and involved.

Not confident ( I never am ) but the starting 11 looks very capable of doing another great impersonation of cardboard cut outs. Southampton will fancy their chances

I didn’t think Fulkreg was ok out of possession, thought he was slow and lumbering when closing those passing lanes. Maybe it’s fitness but it was like night n day when Bowen did the same job out of possession..

I’m genuinely hoping he’s the answer to our number 9 problem tho so let’s hope that starts today as he’s fitness levels get higher

I'm sure that if the selection was down to rotation, Alvarez and Todibo are not the players he would be resting

Fullkrug was ok out of possession, closing passing lanes etc.   but terrible when we had the ball.

Weird line up though. I get he's rotating against a weak team, but we're not really coming from a position of strength.

Also suspect some may not be starting with the extremely difficult Liverpool match to follow soon after this one. We'll need the Squad to rotate.
Or, more likely, he just doesn’t know his best team?

We are 14th in the league and, although not exactly a relegation 6 pointer, we are not really able to rest players away at S'oton.

"On paper" Southamptons Team and Formation if they do go with 3 at the back and 2 up top, should get battered. Looks wide open to exploit and over run in midfield. This is West Ham though..

Mavros and Guido, yikes. Well that's sure to put the back line under pressure.

I’m not being deliberately pessimistic when I say that I can see us making a bollocks of this, on the lines of Leicester away.
And we can’t keep relying on the skipper so it’s time for some more of them to step up

Another game where Mavropanos is mysteriously preferred to Todibo and where Summerville will be under increased pressure to perform... if given a chance

Soucek Alvarez

Kudus Soler Summerville

0-3
I’d go with this but in my dream world Scarles plays ahead of Emerson and then he and Summerville boss the left hand side of the pitch.

We need to press them in their own box/half as under the previous manager he insisted on playing out from the back, this led to many conceded goals. Saying that their new manager might not mind the big clearance.

I’d like to see

                  Fabianski
AW-B  Tobido  Kilman  Emerson
                    Alvarez
         Kudus               Soler
Bowen        Fullkrug    Summerville

Scope for Guilherme, Scarles or Soucek to come on later in the game.
So just Alvarez defending our Team in that Midfield as everyone else tries to score. It is Southampton though, so it might work.
