There was more reason to give Summerville a penalty than to call a foul on Kudus. Also the two yellow cards not given really grate on me - the guy (Jones?) who whipped the ball at the ground and TAA kicking the ball away when we were about to take a throw in near the end of the match. I thought those petulant/delaying antics were guaranteed yellow cards.

I suppose if the result wasn't a fucking drubbing, I could complain about the phantom foul given against Kudus when he was clear on goal. The Liverpool cսnt just fell over.

Yeah, Ward-Prowse.  And the divs decided to loan him out. Never agreed with that decision at the time and that lies with the manager.
Was JWP moved on simply because he was a Moyes signing ?
New broom sweeps clean etc ?

He had chipped in with a fair few goals and assists this time last season

Take out Soucek and this midfield isn't contributing much goals wise.

Expected result by everyone. I had Killman making more mistakes than Mavrohandsome. But he always gets the flak. I blame the Manager. He's a rank outsider for us. Flimsy and void of shape.

I dont think it matters who the manager is, the squad is rotten.
Agree with the first, but not the last bit.
We need a pretty hedty rebuild, but it would help with a manager with some balls and talent

Steiden should be sacked for gross incompetence

He has spent upteen millions and we have far less quality In the squad than we have had in the past few seasons.

Killman the worst waste of money

On the evidence so far he looks like a slower Craig Dawson without the goal threat.

Tonight was thoroughly depressing both on and off the pitch

A total lack of quality pace and fight on it and a general apathy to events in the stands.

It was indeed full of tourists

I had a six foot six yank in a bobble hat stood in front of me in the Trevor Brooking lower until I got him to shuffle along
He then kept turning round and asking me stupid questions
He had just flown in from Tennessee and wanted to see a premier soccer game.

A lot of the natives pissed off to the bar when the second went in and left with twenty to go

Nobody appeared to get the right fking hump with what was happening out there  and just seemed resigned to it.

The old school seemed to of given up the ghost or been excluded due to the increasingly sanitised environment and a few other factors

We seemed to have had the spirit sucked out of our club and we are now just another London tourist attraction albeit an increasingly americanised one.

It's a crying shame

I don’t agree. With another manager, the starting line-up reflects a totally different approach. We have the players to make a game of a match like this; what we got here was a capitulation by a crap manager and all the players knew it.

What’s the point of making an effort if you have been set up so bad it’s going to go to waste?
Are you seriously defending players not making an effort? It doesnt matter who the manager is, you play for the badge or you can fuck off and many of these I wont be unhappy to see the back of.

Yes that's right.

I'm defending the players. And I'd like a manager that does the same because, in case you haven't realised, its the players out there who are supposed to deliver the thing we're longing for, which is a performance. Get behind them - slagging them right now is just too easy.

There were more gems in that piece:
It would be wrong to say West Ham collapsed in the first half here. This would imply some kind of initial resistance. Instead Julen Lopetegui’s team walked out prepped and ready to dissolve like an over‑dunked digestive biscuit.
I knew we would lose but I was hoping for better. This was depressing and it could have easily been a bigger score line. Seemed he was making subs for the sake of making subs in the second half. Sub-n-hope. I suppose to be fair there were a few players unavailable, but Areola had a good game (apart from that 4th goal - what happened there? was it deflected?) so not much of an excuse. Seems we will continue the season in this manner, picking up points in scrappy games from relegation strugglers and getting absolutely battered by the title contenders. All the while that horrible midget porn-peddling prick will sit on his hands.

Separately, the tourists and away fans will soon outnumber the home fans in home stands. It was shocking today. I could see in the walk up to the stadium there was going to be a lot of them but it's reaching a tipping point now where they are on the brink of being the bulk of the home support. No wonder we can't whip up an atmosphere.

Depressing. I don't think I have ever despised anything, human or not, more than these pus-filled genital warts that own our club.

Paqueta was woeful today. Rolling around on the floor after losing the ball was absolutely pathetic and not what I want to see our players doing, regardless of ‘talent’.

Hope someone tells he looked like an utter cսnt doing that.

He hasn't got a clue.

Bizarre selections again with the players looking like he told them his plan for the first time in the tunnel.

Selects Mavropanos ahead of Todibo and plays 2 players out of position to keep Summerville out. We get 45 minutes of Kudus looking more like his old self before switching him back to the left at half time to accommodate the German statue, whereupon he was largely shit and never really got it back when Bowen went off.  Soler showing once again that he doesn't cut it in this league and the 2024/25 Paqueta probably wouldn't be selected in any other squad in the league... and certainly wouldn't be a starter.

Notwithstanding all of that, we still shouldn't be performing at that level. It could've been 8

And the crowd was shit. We should be trying to lift the team, especially at the beginning. There was nothing there. Even the Liverpool fans were shit, only making a bit of noise when they scored.

Football has become so unenjoyable. And too expensive.
We had loads of tourist fans sat near us today, and a few Liverpool fans that got kicked out - was also a fight just to the left of us (Bobby Moore upper).

Tourist fans are a big part of the problem imo - no affinity with the team, spend a lot of time filming stuff and taking selfies and then not getting involved in any singing, chanting etc. Also had a few people ask where their seat numbers were. Fucking learn to read you tourist cunts.

To get anything out of teams like Liverpool or arsenal, who have much more ability man for man, you've got to at least match them for graft and intensity.

We were nowhere near them tonight. Shameful lack of belief and and application.

I was there today and stayed until the final whistle.
Worst performance of the season.

I couldn't understand that defensive set up.
AWB on the left, Emerson left WB/ midfield, not sure where Coufal was supposed to be playing was it WB or CB?, Mavropanos & him starting over Todibo, really? ironically despite having 2 players supposedly covering the left we had no one there repeatedly in the first half as Liverpool exploited that space.
Then at HT he puts on Todibo for Coufal and switches AWB to re right which is exactly how we should have lined up defensively in the first place, takes off Alvarez who again had been thrown under a bus by being outpaced as last man often covering the left side.

Totally baffling tactics, not surprised we were were a shambles and conceded 5.
