Sadiq Khan knighted despite rising crime, rising murders and creating ghettos in London.

Gareth Southgate knighted for winning NOTHING.

Stephen Fry knighted for supporting kids going through gender reassignment surgery.

The country has gone mad.

Every so often we ought to remind ourselves that English isn't Pickle's first language and it shows. To be fair to him, the only Polish I know is 'sklep'. Such a musical language.

Don't forget "Carp Lake", the lesser known, and far less successful, prequel to "Swan Lake".

Southgate is very much a case of the FA, which is a horrid little organisation and no mistake, congratulating itself by applying its leverage.

It’s horrible really but it sells to the punters.

I think those advocating Southgate's award are confusing success with consistency.

Southgate was NOT successful on footballing terms. Some people like to claim he was successful in bringing the fans back into the fold and creating an England that the country was proud of. And that he instilled a media savvy and media collaborative England. But for me, that's par for the course as duties of an England manager. That should be the expected minimum.

He had two major trophies in his hands and threw them away with sheer incompetence and cowardice. In the last Euro's his overall performance was an embarrassment.

But, he was consistent, qualifying and going deep into tournaments. Yes, consistent. But successful, no.

Those who fought for King/Queen & country did so to preserve the freedoms such that morons could act like morons, muppets could act like muppets and "edgy" attention seeking posters could act like "edgy" attention-seeking posters.

Notwithstanding that anyone on the site can do a proper "edgy" any more,

Some of you need to remember that we are not citizens, we are subjects, and your allegiance to the king is inferred by your being British. You don’t get to choose that if you want to be British, but you do get to renounce your birthright and repatriate. The knighthood business isn’t really anything to do with that.

My own view of knighthood is that it is a bit like Hammer of the Year in a relegation season - sometimes it’s best to just leave it until next year unless there is someone who clearly deserves it for an obvious reason.

No other manage has got as close as he has, with just as talented squads, since Alf Ramsey.

Not his biggest fan, reminded me of Moyes with his lack of willingness to take even the slightest of attacking risks, but he's the most successful England manager since we won the World Cup.

You what??

Is losing more finals than any other England manager in history a measure of success now?

What's he actually achieved...
A bit of fry n Laurie?
A bit of bum banditry?
