https://www.whufc.com/news/graham-potte ... head-coach

In the past he's favoured a 3-4-3 formation...hard to see how we can do that currently with only 3 senior CBs, one of whom is injured. He's also played wingers (Solly March as an example) in the wing back roles.

Typically when a 3-4-3 gets announced on a match day the manager is immediately described as being too negative, too cautious etc. I guess it depends on the composition of the 4.

He's given young players chances...hopefully that continues at West Ham.

Welcome Graham.

I'm somewhere between what you've suggested and the euphoria of others. I think he's definitely been scarred by his experience at Chelsea, and there will no doubt be lingering doubts in his mind after that experience until this one starts to go well. Like a boxer in the fight after his first knock down.

I think he needs this to go well to rebuild himself a bit. He's talked a good talk about growth after Chelsea, but also described the range of emotions at having been sacked (was a first time for him afterall after only tasting success before then). He's clearly a thinker, and has two years to mull it over.

Let's hope he overcomes any personal lingering self confidence issues quickly, sticks to the things that made him successful previously, and gets in the swing of things quickly.

If it goes badly at the start, he could crumble...this is a very big gig for him as he's clearly not battle hardened from the usual managerial beat downs.

Not being negative or derogatory, as I said hopefully I'm way off and he does a great job.
I am happy with the appointment, just basing my post on his press conference and a short clip of him on FB taking training today.

I don't care what formation he plays as long as we start seeing more from the quality we have. It's difficult to know if the character of some of the team is such that they flunk under every manager.
Players like Kudus, Paqueta, Todibo, Alvarez and Fullkrug should be producing more. I'd like to see if he can integrate Guilherme who for me has looked willing in the few appearances he has had.
I don't want us to go back to a Moyesque 2 shots on goal and 30% possesion gameplan, I want to see us create chances and be more ruthless. Our shots on goal under Lopetegui was fairly high but the quality was often poor. I hope Summerville is also used a lot more. I do feel he is a little lightweight and isn't great when we don't have the ball but we are always crying out for pace in the side and he has it.

I do have some reservations over whether he will actually take us forward however like with Lopetegui who I also wasn't taken with I'm happy to give him some time to show what he can make of our squad and how he thinks he wants to play against different sides. At the very least I believe he is a good guy who will be looking to build an organised close knit team who work for each other. This may mean some who don't fit leave the club including those quality wise we don't want to.

Tough introduction for him this week and whatever the result there it's unlikely to be an indicator of future performances but at least he sees the players against tough opposition and how they deal with it.

they're facing possible further points deductions, and have no money to spend on players with PSR.

they basically just need to stay in the league for a year or two.
Everton have won 3 out of 20. Had 1 shot on target in last 2 games. Scored least goals in the league bar Soton. Dyche win rate currently is 29%. And they are absolutely horrible to watch. I agree they need to stay in the league and so I agree with their owners, he had to go. Been listening to TS for the last hour also and out of about ten Everton fans only one wanted him to stay....And he was a predictable shouty victim scouser that said "Dyche was the man to save Everton". Had obviously been on the brandy.
he's won 3 in 19 in the league this season- 16% winrate

Potter on January window:

Graham Potter said he had "no expectations" of West Ham entering the transfer market this month after being unveiled as head coach.

The club's recruitment has been heavily criticised following a summer splurge that saw more than £130m spent, but with the team languishing in 14th in the Premier League with just six wins, that business has looked far from frugal. "I don't think there's an expectation (of January business)," he said.

"I think in every window there's always a responsibility for the club to look and to see if there's anything that can help us in terms of whether that's short-term, medium-term, long-term. That's normal.

"Every club in the world is in that position. The challenge for us is to make some quick decisions and to learn around what we have, what the strengths of the players are, how we can support them, if we can."The January window is not the most easy of windows. It can be complicated. So I have no expectations in terms of that.

"It's more that my focus is on the team that we've got, the players that we've got, how I can try to help them. And then at the same time, always be aware of opportunities that can come."

100%

They're running a big risk going down this season now as Dyche was a relegation avoiding specialist for them. Yes the Football is dire but beggars can't be choosers in their position and they would have had enough. Silly season is well and truly under way. 😂
Jesus, you sound like a fan of another team talking about West Ham sacking Moyes. Dyche was taking them down. They are woeful. His record with them is awful. You only stopped short of saying the Everton fans need to be careful what they wish for,
What are you babbling on about you wally? I didn't mention Moyes once. In fact I thought it was Mourinho that's been heavily linked to go there. All I responded to Goose was Dyche successfully kept them up against a backdrop of points deductions and a lot of unrest from the fanbase to do with their former Owner and that they are taking a risk.

You’d guess it means Moyes going there, but didn’t he say he doesn’t want to battle relegation?

Terzic maybe? Fonseca would get them relegated (hopefully).

Well, the number of English managers in the Premier League got back up to the dizzy heights of 3 out of 20 for a few hours at least. Back down to 2 with Dyche's sacking.

Dyche leaves Everton with a win percentage of just 28% after one game shy of two full seasons (equivalent) in charge (21 wins from 75 games). Shocking record and he can have no complaints about getting the tin tack.

He did - you're absolutely right, TM.

Amid the carnage at West Ham and with the New York Jets since Christmas, I'd forgotten he took the Milan gig! And then won the Italian cup.

In which case, who are Everton going after? Could it be the Moyesiah?!
