Well happy with that a massive improvement in the structure and application can see the players are actually playing for Potter.
Once Bowen is back can see a good finish to the season.

Good result but the performance was as valuable. Didn’t expect that. Much better second half. Was the better team. Our organisation was good. Showed tighter lines and didn’t look as vulnerable. We pressed high, which Villa struggled with. Created quite a few chances and actually looked quite dangerous despite the patched up side. Scarles looked class again when he came on.

Valiant draw as I predicted 😊 very encouraging.
they all look like they want to play for us. Massive turn around in four games, the rest of it will come together. We have the right man, patience is needed  Hopefully we can conjure up an CB from somewhere next week and Bowen and Summerville back by Brentford.

Alvarez avoiding that 2nd yellow was a proper let off.

as other said, the longer it went the more we grew into it.  Encouraging signs!  If only we could have cut out the poor start, we came out looking like we'd warmed in a meat freezer.

Put some legs in midfield alongside Alvarez and he will be a great player imo. He wont have to try covering the ground to make challenges which is his obvious weakness ( not quick ). Thought, Paqueta, AWB, AWB and Scarles cameo were the standout performances but all the players put in a real effort.

Only minus is the dwarf will look at that and decide he’s keeping his wallet in his pocket until the end of the season.

A really encouraging performance considering our injury list.

An obvious improvement on the lop era already.

Alvarez continues to worry me. One of the most brainless players we've had in a long time.

Such a shame that was offside at the end but well done Potter, don't think I have ever been so happy with a draw and yet we were going for the win rather than sitting on our penalty area waiting for the inevitable.

Looking at the line up and then seeing the first 15 minutes you thought here we go again, another pasting, but credit to the manager and players who worked their bollocks off.  Someone said Cresswell was a coward earlier and I'm not having that.  You can call a player crap but never a coward.  Yes he is well past his best but has been a good and loyal servant and doesn't deserve that.  Both he and Coufal aren't the answer going forward, we know that but after a shaky first 15 I though both did a decent job.  AWB was brilliant and Paqueta, bar his theatrics, clearly MOM.  Scarles also did really well when he came on.

First 15 minutes I thought we needed at least 9 new players, but two or three would really help us on our way with injuries coming back.  Some good stuff today, onwards and upwards.

Yeah  , first game under Porter v Villa the players tired badly second half. Didn't look match sharp.

A few weeks on we seem fitter already. The injuries my biggest concern and overplaying some lads

It was Soucek that was offside. Big shame.

southbankbornnbred wrote: 26 Jan 2025, 18:38 Good result, that, especially after going one down within ten minutes. Also, an excellent second half to watch.

Recent West Ham sides would have shipped several today after that start. But Potter has definitely given this squad a lift - and MUCH better organisation.

That was a patchwork side, with a midfielder upfront. But plenty of energy, effort and - second half - tempo.

Villa definitely tired after their Champions League week, but that’s still a good point against a good side. Could easily have been three.

Moyes and Lope lose that game.

Yeah with Lop on the touchline with that squad available, that’s a heavy defeat.

As well as the better organisation etc, also thought our side showed proper character and some bollocks today. Hauled themselves back into it after a shaky start. Given that we’re missing our skipper and others, that bodes well - looks like there’s a real team spirit.

I’m sure there will be some, but I cannot complain about that at all when all things considered. Been a long time since we continued to try and win a fixture like this with such a depleted squad.

Up against a team who finished fourth last season and with an abundance of attacking options. We had had more possession, completed more passes, created more clear cut chances.

I think we win this and would have won the cup game with Bowen.

We have a manager with a clear idea of how he wants to play. It’s night and day to Lopetegui, and far more watchable than Moyes.

I don’t even think people can find a way to criticise Kilman today.
