N'daiye definitely shouldn't have been booked for a bit of playful banter, just as I wouldn't want Vardy booked for mugging off Spurs by twice pointing to his Premier League sleeve. Just a constant need to dilute and sanitise a game devoid of characters at times.

Players are being booked for simple goal celebrations too.

Iliman Ndiaye scored the only goal in Everton's 1-0 win at Brighton and celebrated by flapping his arms like a gull in front of the home fans - whose team are nicknamed the Seagulls.

He was duly booked for excessive celebrating, leaving fans on social media confused about what exactly he had done wrong.

This is not the oddest reason for a booking though. Swedish lower league footballer Adam Lindin Ljungkvist was given a second booking in 2016 for breaking wind during a game. The referee called his flatulence "unsportsmanlike" and thought he was "farting on someone else". "I was standing a good distance away but I heard the fart loud and clear," Kristoffer Linde, a striker for opposition team Jarna SK, told a local newspaper.

I agree.

I remember about 7 - 8 years ago, Lanzini copped a retrospective 2 match ban for simulation. Has anybody else been banned for similar since?

He cheats because no-one does anything about it.

Not excusing him but to single him out when it's all over the place doesn't seem fair.

In my view, cheating and simulation should be reviewed in retrospect and fines and bans handed out.  It's so fucking easy and the only way to do anything about it because even with VAR they don't seem to give a fuck about it.

Pundits and Pro's are just as guilty for rarely calling it out and too often they have even praised players for "using their experience" when going down.

Paqueta will be hated on for a week or two and then everyone will move on until someone else becomes public enemy no.1 and in all instances, no one will do a fucking thing about it.

100%

The blatant cheating is getting unbearable to watch and like in the 1st Cup match against Villa he can even cost us by doing it. Cut the shit out but leopards and spots and all that. Stick to the flair and quality play high up the pitch in the final 3rd well away from our defence then he's a real asset.
Do you think he learned all that shit from that utter wanker, Neymar?

Plus also, we have a perfectly good captain already, who is nearly everything you want a West Ham captain to be. Committed, leads by example, 100% every week, understands and loves the club and just so happens he is also our best player.

I'd maybe agree if it wasn't for his theatrics.
I don't want our leader rolling around on the floor at every touch.
A leader for me is someone who plays honestly and fairly.

Impressed with his strength on the ball and holding it up. Used his body so well although it helped when Mings went off. Consistency as mentioned is what he now needs to achieve.

Was fantastic today but then he is once out of every 6/7 games. Returns to average for the rest.

needs to become more consistent in order to reach his full potential.

I think Potter explains it well - basically you make him realise how important he is, that’s the version you get. Moyes saw him as a cog at left wing in a negative system where he seemed to constantly find himself with the ball at left back and end up trying something he shouldn’t in frustration. Under Lopetegui, nobody, not even the head coach himself, knew what the fuck he was trying to do with the entire team.

Very much agree. Tell him he’s the man and you want to put him in a position where he can show everyone. As you say he was really stifled by Moyes and Lop whereas GP seems to want to put him in position where he can find space and influence the game.

I'm unsure what it is exactly he's supposed to be doing, and even if he knew he looks distracted anyway. If we're supposed to be valuing possession more than he seems to have not got the memo.

Would it not be worth trying Kudus in the middle just to see if he can at least break a press by carrying the ball out? Or give Irving a try, he looked tidy enough and I doubt he'd give it away as cheaply as Paqueta does.

I'm sure H and P thought he had yet another decent display again today. Shocking how we are having to carry him most games now and like Fullkrug, we improved once he went off for the impressive Scarles. Putting in a real effort and Professionalism goes a long way.......

To say Paqueta has been underwhelming for the last season and a half would be an understatement.

As the Spanish say...He has played like "Un Paquete" which roughly translated means a tight, dense, package in the back of ones underpants 🩲

It's like playing with 10 men when he plays these days. Doesn't contribute anywhere near enough anymore. Can't keep carrying passengers in our side and we've done it far too often this season. Such a shame too as when he's on it, he's quality but too little, too often.

for someone who cost £45m he doesn't contribute anywhere near enough.

maybe man city will be desperate in january.
I doubt he'd get a game at Salford City the way he's played for 18 months.

Any chance we get employ Antonio as his chauffeur when he's cleared to drive again?
