Shame we didn't get an obligation or an option to buy as Ferguson is the real deal, a very talented young player But the question mark is always his fitness and the last thing we need is another centre forward, that is always in the treatment room.

Latest is Kroupi not gonna happen. Might revisit it in summer ?

Cummings one for the future might happen but again might not but looking at pre contract agreement.

Some talk of a midfielder not Banzuzi being possible.

So at this stage no signings that are permanent or options for permanent.  24 hours left.

Medical passed. What to you mean "being evaluated" ?

Thx for the insights IC, not seen much of him but agree we need lightening speed and strength ideally. Another Kante is what all teams want I suppose. Hioefully Potter’s man Macaulay has a few Kante-esque type players on his list. Seems to be going for U20s that in utsrlf is a breath of fresh air compared to Sullivan and Salthouse “has beens”

Gomes is another that worries me a bit.
I watch him a lot.  He seems to get injured a fair bit and went off early yesterday again.
Also, for someone of his size, I think you want incredible pace (Kante back in the day) Gomes is very quick but I have not seen absolute elite speed.
Also picks up a few cards in a slower league.

I watched his little cameo yesterday in their 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Forest. Brighton had half their ressies out with their injury list so hard to really judge. He still has the physicality and held it well a frw times but obviously lacking the match sharpness so looked a bit slow and “lumbering”.

Simply comes down to whether he can stay fit. Current odds are probably suggesting he wont because of the nature of his injuries for someone so young and the fact that this issue with his ankles has been going on for months. Anyway lets see. If all goes well he will pay off his loan fee ( 3 million for each place in the Premier league ) but not much else and no way Brighton let him go for 40 million if that does happen.

On Ferguson
Would be nice to get something beyond this year but as someone who just likes to watch football (and for those that will pay to go for the rest of this season), it is obvious we need a striker and will be a better football club with one.

Without an obligation to buy, this serves Brighton better than it does for us.
Same thing happened with Lingard.

If he manages to score 9 goals in 3 months like Lingard did then I don't see why it should bother us too much. Without Lingard's loan I doubt we'd have finished 6th, and the qualifying for Europe that year added confidence to the players and helped us qualify for the Conference the following season.

If Ferguson plays well and helps us win more games than we would have done otherwise then it's a good deal for us, no matter what happens to him next year.

Agree completely. Would that we could be sitting here in May bemoaning our lack of an option because hes been so amazing, and thank fuck we're weren't committed to buying Lingard

Iron Duke" wrote: 02 Feb 2025, 15:00 How much did Brighton want for him? Probably at least £40m. I’m not surprised we didn’t want to risk that knowing his injury record. If he plays well for us, he will still be about the same price, and it will be up to the player if he wants to join us, go to a different club, or stay at Brighton. With Lingard, I don’t think the price was the problem. It was the player.

What I do find strange is that we are getting 20 year old Ferguson, 17 year old Landers, 18 year old Cummings, and maybe this 18 year old French forward. How many young forwards do we need? We’ve gone from a forward line of geriatrics to a load of kids.
we did need some younger central forwards (no idea where all these play), as we have quite a lot of wing forwards like jimmy, kudus, bowen, guilherme, kodua, marshall. hopefully a couple can play at nine

In terms of potential, imho the French lad Eli Junior sounds the most exciting but potential of coutse is not always realised. Hope we get him though nonetheless and he currently plies his trade as either an attacking midfielder or forward so maybe that’s why we are interested? We have to get legs in that central midfield to get Poyter’s system to work well you would think.

it’s just a straight loan.

And the risk we take in a straight loan is that he comes here, is success and Brighton quote us fee that Sullivan will baulk at paying OR take him back.

anyone know if a fee was agreed for the summer, and if we get priority to buy him? if no, it's a pretty much pointless loan
