Never underestimate the widespread psychological and mental health disorders in the first world societies these days. Social media is a relatively new “window” into what is arguably a 21st century mental health crisis since it allows anominity. But its impacting many aspects of life including at work ( bullying, egos etc ) .
The need for a sense of power over others driven by feelings of inadequacy, insecurity of those with low self esteem. Childhood problems, abuse and traumas from bad families or bullying at school often in the individual’s background. Or simply they dont feel good enough in some way .
Trolling is also now recognised as an addiction for some analogous to the “high” a pyromaniac gets lighting fires. Unfortunately a higher percentage of the population than many think have these disorders, impulses or needs and its increased a hundred fold over the last 50 years. Sadly a lot of the trolls lack the self awareness to even realise why they get such a kick from it

. Just dismiss it as the victim’s problem or harmless banter. Lots of interesting literature on the subject but tough to police as it hides under the “free speech” banner. Disagreement is healthy but some are so weak psychologically that it becomes a personal thing an affront to their ego.
I just ignore it on threads bit like stepping over dog crap on the pavement
