Yeah, Glenn was never going to retain Rodgers while trying to put his stamp on his new side. The QB is just too big an ego and presence. A new HC wasn’t going to keep a guy who, at most (and aged 41), had one year left.

The cap move is sensible, to mitigate his guarantees. There will be a cost, but it’s the right thing to do. His injury last season ruined the high-risk trade. Should never have done it. But that’s the Jets for you.

Hopefully, Glenn and Moug can start changing the culture.

I agree. But it’s going to be a good match-up, that. While all the attention has been on Mahomes and Kelce etc, the Chiefs’ defense as been very good this season.

TM - I’m seeing reports you’re prepared to trade big with us to get DK Metcalf.

Could work out well for both - he’s a great player right in the prime years, but we need to move on with our rebuild and he would free up a lot of cap space.  With Smith-Njigba and Charbonnet coming through I think we’re well covered to replace him.  You’ll love him in DC

Yeah, I tend to agree, TM. Glenn will want his defense to play his way, and he’s mates with Wilks. So I suspect between them they’ll give the side a strong defensive character. Wilks’ experience will help a new HC, too.

Don’t know much about the OC. But he was rated by Johnson and Campbell in Detroit - and jumped at the chance to carry on working with Glenn. So, good signs. They feel like a proper coaching team/unit. And Hackett has gone, which is a relief!

Aaron Glenn has pretty much completed his backroom staff. Some really good choices, some a bit marmite and could go either way.

He didn’t get his first choice OC, which would have been Nick Caley from the Rams. So, instead, he stole yet another Detroit coach - and nabbed their passing game co-ordinater.

Some have criticised the appointment of Wilks as DC, given he failed as a HC. But if Glenn is hands-on as a defensive coach anyway, then it might not matter. So I’m sanguine about it. Plus, we could do with some experience on a young coaching staff.
