NFL (since 2016)
"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Joe, I watched a couple of seasons of Sam at NC. He thrived in a run heavy system where he had Javonte Williams (more of a workhorse back) and Michael Carter (more a speed, third down back). That scheme opened up space for him to make shots down the field to his receivers. Clearly Rivera, and Bienemy didn't watch any of his college games and that last season in Washington, we barely run the ball and he was throwing ridiculous amounts of time behind a terrible o-line. Those two pretty much fucked him financially with the way they schemed the offense. With an OC that is happy to work off a consistent run game, Sam can start at pro level
*and what's amazing is he's still younger (24) than multiple QB prospects going in to next month's draft*

All they have left Sam Howell who is, obviously, never going to be a starter even temporarily and the possible free agents all look to be pretty risky.
They must be be planning to trade away other players for higher draft picks but there are only 2 obvious QB candidates there.
Maybe they could get Sam Darnold or Justin FIelds on the cheap for a season and hope something turns after that but it does like a complete tear down as it stands.
Howell is an odd one. We specifically targeted getting him, Macdonald wanted him based on the Seahawks/Commanders game from the season prior (which OTB and I were at funnily enough), but then chose Geno as our starting QB again

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Keep your grubby Green Mitts off Winston. South!. He look better in dark Blue. As for the QB's in the draft. Ward is going first overall. But the cat is out the bag with regards to Sanders. Quite a few of the GM's all are of the belief Sanders ain't what he is cracked up to be. And isn't worth a top 20 pick. Let alone a top 5. Someone will as always over reach and take a punt. I don't think it will be the Big Blue.? (Too close to Jones for that.) The Dart scenario has been talked about by a few fanbases across the league. (That fifth year option on QB's is a doozy.) This time next week. Everybody will have a clearer view on QB landscape come Draft time. Either way. It's all good fun.

Re: NFL (since 2016)
Some early smart money on the Jets coming up the board (using mid-round picks) and taking Jaxson Dart as a late first-rounder on top of holding the #7 pick.
Not sure if this is how Glenn will see it - or whether Dart will still be available late in Rnd 1 after having a good combine. But it seems that the Jets spent good time with Dart and Milroe, both expected to be QB picks outside the top 20 in the draft (most experts have them as 2nd rounders). So, rightly, I think we're unlikely to trade up from #7 to try to land Ward or Sanders.
I think the Jets starting QB position is up for grabs next season. There's still talk of a move for Jameis Winston, Justin Fields - and even some confidence (internally) that Tyrod Taylor could do a half-decent job while he's still there. Any of those options would give us time to develop somebody like Dart or Milroe.
The tug of war for the #7 pick seems to be between the new OC, who wants a right tackle and there is an excellent prospect there in Armand Membou, and the new HC who has got his eyes on a few excellent defensive prospects. Looks like we won't be picking a QB with #7. Rightly.
I'd take Winston as a free agent, Membou or somebody like Mason Graham (if he's still available) with the #7 pick and then try to land Dart by trading up. It might fail, but what the fuck: everything else we do fails!

cleveland could also try and move, but I think because garrett is determined to leave, the thoughts are they'll take carter at two as his replacement
Re: NFL (since 2016)
Can’t see it being a kings ransom Miike. Our first. Maybe next year’s 2nd. And a 5th.? As shit as we been. We haven’t picked first overall since the mid sixties.! Ward may not be a stud. But he is solid. And after Jones. I’m taking solid.

shorty, hearing rumours from pretty clued up insiders that you'll be moving up to pick one and doing a deal with the titans. no clue of the cost, but you clearly want ward

Re: NFL (since 2016)
"He has overseen 25 seasons. In that time, we have had just 8 winning years (four of which were 9-7 seasons, so just one game in it), and 17 losing efforts"
That's two more winning seasons (six) than we had under Snyder
The thing that's underestimated is the professional players country wide talk and let each other know how good or bad their franchise is run, apparently we're up there now with the most desirable destination in the league. Someone like Bobby Wagner wouldn't have touched us with a barge pole before the new regime took over. What amazes me in regard to NFL franchises is, if you've ever watched a tour of a college football facility, many have far better conditions than their pro counterparts despite an ever increasing influx of money in to the sport. It's worth having a look at some of those videos on YouTube at some of these colleges

https://nflpa.com/report-cards/2025No surprise at all to see Woody as the least popular owner!Imagine being hated that much by your players. If you want similar clown world decisions, look no further than Jacksonville and their hiring of a bloke as GM that looks like he hasn't started shaving yet. Him & the oddball Coen
Woody is head and shoulders above all others as the worst owner, though: every day, day in-day out, since taking over in 2000. Twenty-five years of clueless carnage. Your old guy, Snyder, was a benchmark. Now he's gone, this fool is setting the anti-standard.
He has overseen 25 seasons. In that time, we have had just 8 winning years (four of which were 9-7 seasons, so just one game in it), and 17 losing efforts. His overall record as owner is 173 wins and 231 defeats. He has overseen the longest active play-off drought (14 seasons) - and the team has had a losing record for the past 9 years. We've had just 1 winning season since 2010!
Genuinely, I think if the Jets had chosen to do the exact opposite of what Woody thinks about most things, we'd have been in the play-offs regularly. He has the reverse Midas touch. He's not going to sell any time soon because we make too much money. But don't let him anywhere near the team - ever. Let Glenn, a good appointment, and Mougey get on with it now.

Totally agree. Keeping Woody out of team affairs will be the most difficult challenge of all. I hope he feels suitably chastened by last season - which was on him.

Seemingly, Glenn told him: IF you stay, you’re going to be merely one of the 53 on the roster. You’re going to come to every practice. And you’re not going to do that weird shit on Pat McAfee anymore.
It seems to have been designed to get rid of him, because they knew he'd hate that (especially the "no special treatment and you turn up to every practice" bit). So they parted company.
Rich Eisen gave a good breakdown of what Rodgers achieved Vs what he cost.Great quarterback in his prime, which was several seasons ago. But a complete failure at the Jets. He’s in decline and he’s an unpalatable narcissist to boot (refusing voluntary camps etc).
- 2023 season: Four snaps.
- 2024 season: Five wins.
- $49m in dead cap money.
- Of which they can save $9.5m if they officially release him after 1 June (which they will)
- We gave up a first-round pick, TWO second-round picks and a sixth-round pick to land him.
- We also spent a third-round pick to get Devante Adams specifically to keep Rodgers happy.
It’s going to take us some time to work that, and the financial/draft implications, out of our system. They've already taken all Rodgers-related merchandise out of the stores.
Aaron Glenn wants to build a team, not a Disneyland-style distraction. I like the cut of his jib. But he’s got a mountain to climb!there were people on here telling you before you signed him that it was a waste of time. I'm not sure what weird shit glenn's referring to as I'm sure he only ever chats with mcafee and aj hawk, but it's a good thing moving on from a massive distraction
