Kids these days lust after a Ferrari or Maserati etc but when i was growing up it was a 1600E Mk2 Cortina.😄 When i was old enough and passed my test, first car was a silver Mk2, but 1300, the bloke i bought it off had made it look like (from a distance) a1600E, looking back it was a pretty dodgy effort, he sprayed the roof with some black tar like stuff and got seat covers and some recaro wheel look alikes🤣, no walnut dash or trim though!!! Listening to Saturday's kids by The Jam yesterday made me laugh as it did have "stains on the seats, in the back of course" and few more by the time i got rid of it😏 Happy days...

Tom Robinson was another fan of the car and wrote a song thats on the Power in the Darkness album....

The best Rick Buckler vid is the one where he smashes the clock with his drumstick:

Setting Sons still amongst my favorite albums

Hard to argue with that Syd, although Sound Affects runs it extremely close.
Another link to our child/young adulthood lost.

Very sad, maybe the band that defined my teenage years, makes you stop and think what the fuck happened to all those years since, Setting Sons still amongst my favorite albums, saw them during the beat surrender tour, which was their farewell tour i think, one of my favorite gigs from that era🕺

RIP Rick and thanks for so many happy musical memories 😢
