Most important West Ham goals in the last 20 years?

Post Pub Bigot »

Just thinking about some of the important goals scored in the last two decades and what springs to mind.

1. Bowen v Fiorentina. Obvious choice.

2. Zamora v Preston - Had he not scored that goal, who knows how we would have ended up.

3. Reid v Man United - The last game and goal at Upton Park. Monumental.

4. Vaz Te v Blackpool - Another huge goal in recent history, significant because it’s the last time we’ve had to fight for promotion, and a cup final win at Wembley.

5. Stanislas v Millwall - League Cup game, losing up until the 87th minute when he pops up and grabs the equaliser. First time we’d beaten Millwall since the late 80s/early 90s I think.

Yours?

I fink we fluked a win at Blackburn rovers away the following week and went on a roll.

But yea.  TEVEZ saved us singlehandedly.
Of course he fuckin did

Remember watching the Swindon game at home on ITV I think
Was it Jim Rosenthal the studio host who said we are all wishing West Ham the best
Studio guest Mick McCarthy of Millwall obviously refused to agree
Ha ha ha

Portsmouth got beat that weekend so we were in poll position.

Speedie went from zero (after that Millwall game) to hero.

I remember C Allen scoring one. Did Kenny Brown also score?
Yeh Morley got the other one.

And going on the pitch after the home game.

Ha, yeah. Dropped down from the east upper onto the chicken run, then running round the pitch like a fucking lunatic. Great day!
Also getting absolutely hammered in The Wakefield after the game. Very fucking messy.
Just to think, if we’d have been turned over by Swindon away in the previous game (think they were on a decent run at the time)….

So a goal that stopped Spurs winning the league is more important than the winner in a cup/play-off final?
If you read my post again, you will see that I qualified it by saying it was a game that I was actually at. Read it slowly and you may comprehend.

Any goal against Spurs is a beautiful thing, I still love thinking about David Cross scoring 4 against them at their place. A beautiful thing.
