Re: Potter Out
Yeah he rabbits on in the same breath about how there's been improvements but definitely not in points, or where we now find ourselves in the table. But at least we can take some comfort by being able to cover our toes with an ill fitting security blanket by not conceding as many goals, as the rest of our body goes in to anaphylactic shock from watching mind numbing Football.

Turned it off when he said there’s been improvements since he’s been in charge albeit not in points
that’s called no fucking improvements, shoving everyone in defence to stop letting in so many goals which in turn stops you from scoring goals and getting less points because of it, isn’t an improvement in any shape or form.
I despise this bloke with a passion

Re: Potter Out
It’s absolute nonsense to pretend Lopetegui wasn’t responsible for our summer signings. The club did not buy players he didn’t want.

Re: Potter Out
Fuck all obtuse about it, I've tried to keep it about Potter to begin with and it was you that was determined to make it about the previous manager. And you then didn't like it when we actually examine who we forked out most of the budget on and that it wasn't all by the previous manager you'd like to believe it was.

Re: Potter Out
I thought this was a Potter thread, yet you keep going back to the previous manager having originally brought him up about spunking most of the money that was mainly down to Steidten and Sullivan before him.
Re: Potter Out
...and your man Lopetegui was responsible for Kilman, Soler and Rodriguez and - unless he's a man with no integrity who was happy to quietly take the dollar whilst disagreeing with his paymasters - was presumably happy to retain the ones already there and sanctioned all the other new arrivals

Re: Potter Out
I knew you'd struggle to argue how all that money was spent. Steidten is your man to blame for that.

Re: Potter Out
Brighton fan done a video with the lad on Hammerschat.
Didn't exactly go in on him as a manager for a club like Brighton, good and bad points.
However, as I've suggested, doesn't think he's a good fit for a club like ours, with a (rightly) demanding fanbase.
Nice guy, but the geezer doesn't have the gumption for West Ham. Might finish mid table next season, but bored to tears in the process.
Graham Curbishley.

Re: Potter Out
This isn't a discussion around semantics.
You've slated the quality and attitude of the squad - curated in part by your hero, Lopetegui - yet you refuse to take that into consideration when stating that Potter couldn't have walked into a better situation.
I think we have a dreadful squad.
Potter has been fucking underwhelming, no doubt about that, but you obviously dislike him as much as you had the horn for Lopetegui so I wouldn't expect anything else tbh.

No I didn't, you struggle to pay attention. Where did I say only 4 Squad players are worthy of their places? I said 4 have performed well and showed the right attitude this season alone where others haven't come up to the mark for a number of reasons and aren't all a write off if managed well. Keep up.
Your heads probably still spinning from the list of players that Steidten spunked fantastic money on for little return you avoided to respond to...

14th without a serious threat of relegation with plenty of points to still up for grabs to get in to Europe with zero pressure with the use of most of a Squad that managed to finish 9th only half a season earlier with plenty of backing. Keep up.

Re: Potter Out
He really couldn't have walked in to a much better non-pressured situation than the moment he did. It was all there for him to get us playing some entertaining Football without much fear of relegation and he manages to serve up some of the worst Football seen this season instead. Which is quite some going considering the Premier League this season has never been as dogshit as this one. What a wasted opportunity but not at all surprising.

We ended up sacking Moyes and employing the Spanish Moyes, sacking him and employing the English Lopetegui.
Bizarre indeed.

Re: Potter Out
Exactly where I'm at, Rossal.
If he took over with us in a relegation battle, you could understand us going all out negative, like he has.
Instead, 14th in the league, no threat of relegation because of the 3 diabolical teams down there, an England international forward at your disposal, Kudus, Paqueta, yet he's shut up shop and made us the worst attacking team in the whole league.
Given the last couple of years, he didn't need to do a lot to keep us onside. Play his cuntball away, attack teams at home. Results wouldn't have mattered had we seen him giving it a go at our place, he had the PERFECT situation.
Absolutely baffling.

Re: Potter Out
I am with Eerie, amazed some people want to give him millions and the summer still.
Yes the club is in a bit of shit at the moment, but the main doom and gloom is the shit we're watching on the pitch week in week out. On the pitch the whole season has been abysmal. We're watching shit players in a shit system play shit football and get shit results and the majority of that falls on the manager.
Potter has had months of training, no pressure from the drop and a few international breaks to stamp his mark on this squad. What exactly are we better at now than when he came in.....we don't concede as much that's literally it is it?
Since his first game in charge where to be fair we looked decent we haven't scored 3 goals. We've only managed more than one against Leicester and Bournemouth. Not a single away game we've managed to score more than once.
The tactics are shit, the subs sometimes are baffling and we can't create fuck all. Its just sideways and backwards till it goes wide.
The dressing room seems a mess, there must be discontent after the Fullkrug interview.....then he basically admits half the team aint listening to the manager and they areent playing for him
and some want to give him millions and oversee a huge rebuild in the summer? I thought after a few years off and this being a pivotol moment in his prem career he would turn up all guns firing and get a real tune out of us till the end of the season.
But like the team he has woefully underperformed. To see a turnaround anywhere near whats needed to even stay in the division next season seems unlikely to me.
Fuck him off, go buy a decent manager off another club and one that can actually coach a fucking football team to defend and score goals.

Takashi Miike" wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 23:02 one of my biggest problems with Moyes was the inevitable driving away of talented players (mostly strikers), because of his style of football. it's happening again, so don't be shocked if Bowen fucks off if a club shows interest
It's sadly getting to a point where we'd be surprised if he didn't want to go elsewhere with much less hassle and more of a good chance to win Silverware especially in the Champions League where his ability should belong. At this moment in time he's completely wasting his talent just 1 place outside the relegation zone. Such is the class of the bloke and genuine love for the Club that he won't admit it to himself or kick up a stink for a move.
