"Btw, don't get me wrong the on field decision should have stood, but we now have a couple of blokes in a room miles away reffing games now, and what happened to clear and obvious?? Watched this game in Chiang Mai, it's a trifle warm here."

"Ings should have gone on for Antonio, he has been a good sub lately. If Phillips needed time he shou!d have gone on for JWP, who wasn't doing much. That would have kept our shape better to help keep the ball a bit and reduce pressure on our not so solid defence."

"Coffee - He should have put Ings on for Antonio, he went defensive when he didn't have to as they were not even a threat at that point, the crowd had given up and their players were dropping like flies, they even had to sub off two of their subs, Moyes just gifted them the initiative. As for the pen, Phillips made no contact with the ball and took out their player instead, I don't see how it's relevant as to how that come about, conceding a pen doesn't have to be a deliberate act."

Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"I don't like it. Would you say Gordon was actually trying to play the ball. He fooled Coufal, Phillips and the ref. Crap sad way to play football. With VAR you'd think such gamemanship could be spotted and not rewarded. This is what the Guardian said. The spot-kick was awarded after Gordon marked his return from England duty by manoeuvring himself between Vladimir Coufal and the ball. Sure enough, the defender was provoked into conceding what briefly, and deceptively, appeared an afternoon-defining penalty. When Gordon reprised his first-half party trick and squeezed himself between Phillips and the ball in the area a foul was drawn, the video assistant referee intervened and a penalty was awarded."
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
"Manuel 6:29 Sun Mar 31 I can well imagine another ref not giving it. Why? Because Philips had already started the kick/clearance before the Newcastle fellow stuck his foot in. In a different part of the field, chances are that it may not have been given. As for Manuel 7:17 Sun Mar 31, I would have left him on for longer, but guess Moyes' logic was that (i) the game was in our hands and should have been won and just required playing out like many other previous games where we had a comfortable lead; and (ii) that Antonio needs a bit of cotton wool wrapping, particularly with four important games coming up in the next fortnight. This is what he's often done before. Why did it go pear-shaped yesterday? Was it just because Moyes took off Antonio? No, things like that rarely happen for one reason alone. It was as though the whole team took their collective foot off the pedal, allowing Newcastle to get back into the game. And once they'd got one back, momentum had been established and the rest is unfortunate history. By the way, what's happened to Mubama?"

"Imagine putting a sub on at 3-1 up to shore up the game (even though it didn't need to be done) and it having the EXACT opposite effect, as a manager at this level wouldn't you be having a serious word with yourself? In this case probably not as he did exactly the same thing against Villa. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so fucking tragic."

"Of course it was a fucking penalty, due to Phillips being so fucking slow he made no contact with the ball whatsoever and made full contact with Gordon's foot at pace. Do some really think it wasn't a pen because he didn't mean to do it??"
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"How MOTD failed to discuss the penalty, I will never know. Excellent point made earlier re Downes, but that's down to Moyes again, spitting his dummy out of the pram because he wasn't his choice. We'd also be about 8 million quid better off. Saw a Newcastle supporter mate tonight who said that no way was it a pen, and that every time Kudus got the ball he shat himself."

Moyes mentioned the lunge from Gordon for the penalty on MOTD but they did not even mention it. That would have taken the edge of the Magpies love in.

"Just watched the highlights on MOTD again. Phillip's half hearted challenges, lack of urgency and trotting about caused all the last three goals. I would say he was unlucky with a terrible penalty shout but he invited it by hesitating. The lack of a challenge on Barnes for the winner just unforgivable. For all the mismatch with our system in how Ings plays, I've seen him put himself about, track back and put more heart into a game than this chump. If Phillip's doesnt have the character to want to improve and put a shift in then he can go back now. A monumental transfer window dud. Not surprisingly MOTD avoided talking about any of the dubious decisions and spent the time praising Newcastle."
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Newcastle missed two sitters at 3..1 and Moyes panicked. If he wanted to control the midfield a bit more then just get Paqueta to sit a bit deeper at least then he is in there to hit direct missiles over the top to the front three. And if you are going to bring Johnson on bring him on earlier to replace Coufal who was run ragged. Just don't know what Moyes was thinking taking off his counter attack outlet.
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Surprise surprise. MotD bottle job. No discussion of the two pens. Total focus on Saudi United. Also became clear that Gordon did the same leg-in-front trick for both pens. Showed himself to be a nasty little shite as well.

Drove there and back. Won’t do that again. Was shaping up to be a memorable away day. Their fans were embarrassing. No noise for 85 minutes. I’ve always been quite impressed by the Geordies but really poor home support. We were massive. Obviously
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Another complete fuck up from Moyes was to ship in Phillips purely as he thought he must be decent as a city player which is in itsf hugely questionable. Phillips I‚Äôd about as bad as I‚Äôve witnessed I‚Äôm 57,you could I suppose give the bloke a chance but he‚Äôs been a monumentallly fucking shit a terrible player. Surely Ings deserves a second chance???? No chance Moyes knows better the shit cսnt."

Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Newcastle had a couple of openings just before the sub and maybe Antonio needed to go off as we were 3 1 up. It's tricky as no way you xoukd take off any of the front 3 but after hes gone we've lost our focal point and as has bee pointed out Paqueta is gone from midfield. It was a risk and it failed miserably. Moyes is paid to win games and he funked up here big-time. AGAIN! maybe we'll get another bite of the cherry as their squad is still funked. But really a massive opportunity wasted. I'm gutted. And these Geordies wittering about the head injury need to have a word with themselves. Imagine if the head injury protocol was used everything some fanny went down clutching their face. About 15 times per game x 5 nuns = 75 extra mins. Ffs Oh well Sunday tomorrow.

"Nice post threesixty 11:01 Sat Mar 30, agree about Moyesias plan to defend, but didn't work so it's easy to criticise and say what would have been better... I think if Phillips had come on for JWP we would have won. If Antonio needs a break, bring on Ings, he was very good against the Germans and for me we have to try and keep doing what was winning. Phillips for Antonio changed the game, we didn't have enough attackers to keep the ball, more pressure on the defence, mistakes, concede goals, thats what happens and what did happen. The Fonz, that's ManU isn't it? We're West Ham, it's different for us..."

To take off.a fit eager Antonio with including var was 30 minutes left was a huge fuck up from Moyes absolute bonkers.done the same at home against villa when cruising . Moyes is one clueless stubborn cսnt who‚Äôs wrecked a very decent youth potential. It‚Äôs now got to the stage I almost hate the bloke. Good job I‚Äôm able to forget about today and box on with far more important things.
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread
"Sadly I thought the patched up Newcs made up of subs, in some cases subs of subs, and youths thoroughly deserved to win. They ran their guts out, their passing was far superior to ours and they actually played to win. Our lot couldn't pass wind in the second half and moyes is generally incapable of getting either the subs or the tactics right. Thought Phillips was unlucky with penalty but he is utter crap and has yet to do one thing of note, he shouldn't wear the shirt again. Agree the ref utterly useless, think he thought he had got our second goal wrong and went out in the second half determined to make it up hence the second penalty. Tired of piss weak pundits telling us how good moyes is, we have absolutely no youth policy, he is crap in the transfer market and tactically inept!"
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Front 4 and Alvarez are top 6. Everyone else is bottom half. HUGE rebuild needed. At least 6-7 new players in the Summer.
Re: ‚ö? Newcastle v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
So fed up with the inconsistency of VAR Literally same thing for the 2nd pen happened in the Man Utd vs Brentford game. A man utd player kicks a Brentford player in the area when trying to clear the ball. The commentator said it is exactly the same as our game with Phillips and Gordon. No pen and var don't even check it. Such fucking bullshit.

"For all the money we spend we just don’t have a decent bench do we? The whole problem with this game is that Moyes did what you should do. 3-1 up, need to rest Antonio and need to get Philips up to speed. I get it. But in reality both subs are like a double negative. Antonio is our best defender in reality because he is so progressive he pins the opposition back. So that’s a major negative. Then Philips is literally the worst professional footballer I have ever seen at this level and this cost. Hes astoundingly bad. He looks like a player 2 leagues down. I would have sympathy for his penalty but it’s just indicative of how “unsharp” and slow he is mentally. He is not decisive. Doesn’t know what he’s gonna do before he does it. Always a little late, very little pace and not sharp enough for 45m+ player. It’s a joke. I’d rather play Johnson covering Alvarez than him and that’s absolutely serious. Philips will lose us matches every time. For a specialist CDM that’s just come it’s like a huge gap in front of defence. He polices nothing. So that’s one sub that weakens you into two areas defensively and loses you the game. Ultimately it’s down to Moyes. As in reality we could have had Downes playing and kept 140k a week or spent it on increasing Johnson’s salary by a few quid,, or you know, an actual top class footballer. Also, I would have subbed Coufal early doors as he just wasn’t on it at all. But that’s another story. I’m gutted, but tbh I didnt expect anything from this game anyway for different reasons. But wow, what a way to throw away a game. Also, ref as usual is a disgrace. I thought fouls needed to be intentional unless it’s dangerous conduct. Two of our players go to kick a ball and someone they can’t see sticks their foot in. Really? Does the law of the game really say that’s a foul? I really didn’t know that one. Madness"

That Phillips Penalty was a stonewaller. The clown clearly kicked Gordon's foot with his massive clown shoe and the only way he made the ball move was to hit Gordon's foot against it. Thick as pigshit that boy. Should still be plying his trade in the Championship. One of the most overrated Premier League players ever.
