Max Kilman
This lad is a real problem.
At £40mil, it's getting to the point of worst ever signing territory. The worst crime in football is hiding, centre back is probably the one position you can half get away with it, but not for too long. Shirks taking responsibility, who imo makes him worse than Mavropanos, at least he fronts up, which can lead to mistakes. Kilman doesn't, so it doesn't get highlighted.
We've obviously got a massive overhaul in the summer, but for me, he is the biggest problem in our team and we need to cut our losses if we can. It took a while to spot, because he hides, but you can't fool people for too long. Wolves fans told us, some wouldn't have it, but they were dead right. Absolute fraud of a player.

Re: Max Kilman
Shockingly I think Cresswell was our best CB on Sunday. Absolutely damning on the others to say that. Genuinely think he'll stick just because we'll need him such is our ridiculous situation at the back, and he's a leader/high character guy. And yes, YES it does indicate horribly so that we've been utter utter dogshit in the transfer market and at centre back for far too long, for Cresswell to even be in the manager's thoughts to start a match there at this point in time let alone arguably better out of position than 60 million quids worth of centre back both the best part of ten years younger than him. Any normal club would be saying goodbye and thanks for being such a great servant, but we'll be keeping him.

A shocking deal. He wasn't worth more than £20Million which is the going rate these days for a bang average lumbering oaf.

The most angry I've ever seen kilman . Was after his headed goal against us was disallowed. Playing for wolves. Last season.

Re: Max Kilman
Todibo hasn't impressed at all, but we could definitely still get a decent fee for him, based on reputation.
No-one else would be stupid enough to pay a half decent fee for Kilman. Were lumbered.

Got to be honest, Todibo did not exactly inspire confidence either on Saturday. He was supposedly brought for his ability on the ball, to bring it out of defence and having a bit of pace. Didn't see too much of that although he was a calming influence at times. Just his pace, he got done several times by that Tel bloke after having a head start. That said, he seemed to visibly slow as the game progressed? Has he still got a fitness issue in terms of strength and stamina? Also, he seems a bit lightweight at times? Im hoping it was just an off day. Lets see how he does remainder of the season.
What's clear is we need a leader at the back in the form of another CB. The difference Cresswell made with simply barking out instructions of when to get out, when to press, when to cover was a major improvement. But at 35, we cannot be relying on him next season. THat said, might be tempted to give him a 1 year deal just to ensure there is someone in the squad with a voice.
Giving Cresswell another year's contract is a sign we've failed in the transfer window. We shouldn't be employing anyone just because they can shout.

I'd take whatever hit we can and move on. I've seen way too many excuses for him by now. He isn't good enough.
God when you think about the mediocre players we’ve bought in over recent years and just paid them to warm the bench. It’s really ludicrous in some cases and it’s become an expensive destructive habit.

Re: Max Kilman
its better to be paying someone to be here than be paying them silly money to not be. We see start of the season he is capable of some great performances so lets hope and pray he can get back to those levels. Having him as a third choice is no bad thing if we resort back to a back 4.
Hopefully the clear out and Potter having a full pre season can raise the standards again.

Re: Max Kilman
This is exactly why, as I stated in my original post, he is the biggest problem. Although the nuance behind that was too much for some to understand.
We either take a massive hit on him, or we have a £40mil player on huge wages on the bench, because you can't go into a season with him as a first choice. No way.
Huge, huge problem. The lad is awful, sad but we were warned.

Re: Max Kilman
The maths just doesn't work out. We're going to have to keep him, maybe Potter and his team can get him playing a bit better, a bit more consistently from the new season but if he stays the same he'll be the best paid substitute we've ever had, knocking Javier Mascherano into second place.
Re: Max Kilman
So we're looking at taking a £20m hit on a player after a year and also paying up 6 years of his contract. We're crying that we are skint already without doing a deal as bad as that.
He will also need replacing which would eat into even more of the funds we have

Re: Max Kilman
I don't know if there are any top division clubs well within their PSR parameters, but if there is,they can afford 5.2 million per year in his wages over 6 years making him worth 31 million quid so we would struggle to shift him on a free transfer at that valuation.

Maidenhead s £4m windfall from the Kilman deal didn't do them much good as they have been relegated from the national league.

Re: Max Kilman
We can't have a backup earning 100K a week for 6 more years. That would be a horrific drain and a massive millstone with the revenues thing. It'll prevent us signing other players.
We're better off just accepting our absolute buggering with this one to just cut our losses, get anything we can, and move on.

Now we have absolutely nothing to play for, we need to see what Casey is like in a league match with no pressure. If he makes a mistake leading to a goal, Kilman or Mavropanos probably would have done that anyway so it won't matter. If he links up well with Todibo and looks strong enough, perhaps we can afford to lose one of Aguerd/Kilman/Mavropanos as bench CB and have Casey take their place on the subs bench.
If we don't do that then we don't actually have a centre back to sell, no matter how bad they are. And if we have to sell before buying, we won't be able to afford a better one either. The sooner we bite the bullet on him, the better, I reckon.
It'll be an almighty expense to us, but the longer he goes into the 6 years he's got left on his £100k a week contract, the harder it will be to shift whatever proportion of that to another club who's stupid enough to buy him.
Perhaps he could be used as a makeweight for a different player and we pay a chunk of his wages for the remainder of his contract. But that probably means he has to get a contract of that length at the new club. Not many will agree to that!
Re: Max Kilman
He has been shit lately but there's no way we should be dumping him if its going to cost us £10-20m to do so. That is just insanity, i'd rather keep him as 3rd/4th choice and hope that Potter can get him back to the from from the start of the season

Re: Max Kilman
He's been a fucking disaster considering the money spent and the ridiculous length of the deal makes it all the worse. You'd be annoyed if we'd have spent 20 million on a 4 year deal given what we've seen. Lop and Sullivan had their absolute pants pulled down over this both in terms of financials and their assessment of the player's talent. Lop especially looks like an awful, awful judge of talent (especially given the player simply can't play in the system he wanted to) and considering some of the deals Sullivan has torpedoed, it's embarrassing this is the one he gave the green light to.
Anyway I agree he just needs to be wiped off the books at the end of this season the least damaging way possible. It's inevitable we'll take a huge financial hit on him, IF we can even convince the player to leave. Why would he go anyway, given the financial security we've offered? No team is going to pick him up on anything like the terms we have him on. We might be able to loan him or wind up paying half his salary for the next god knows how long for if we can jettison him for 10 million or something.
There cannot be many people in football who have seen him this season and thought he's got much about him at all. We might be able to loan or sell him to someone desperate. Maybe Leeds or whoever comes up in the playoffs.

You just know he's going to give Cresswell another year on his contract.
People will say he's playing well, but even I'd look like Maldini playing next to Kilman.
