Eurovision
First semi final tonight. Semi final Thursday night.
Grand finals on Saturday 8pm.
They've moved the FA Cup final kickoff to make sure if it goes to penalties it won't overlap with the song contest.
Sweden will win it this year.

I didn't claim ant semitism either.
More to do with the Juries bias and how the tone changed completely when it looked like Israel might actually win.
Yep, agree with all of that mate, there was definitely an anti-Israel vibe about the whole thing. My argument is that a) Russia shouldn't be banned and b) if Russia were in it, they'd get even worse bias against them and you wouldn't feel bad about that (Unless you would, I'm not telling you how to feel!)

Re: Eurovision
Nobody is voting to spoil the result, they choose their favourites and some won't vote for Israel whether they like the song or not. The evidence of this is that they finished second, not last.
What sort of elaborate antisemitic plan plays out to award the hated Jew a runner up medal??

Anyway, here goes.
I am not surprised if there was bias among the judges against a Jew/Israeli. It's de rigueur.
However the notion of people voting in favour of Austria in order to make roundabout 'pro-Nazi' gesture is ridiculous. Most people would associate Germany more strongly with Nazism, whatever Hitler's birthplace. It's obviously an unfortunate coincidence.
Voting Germany would be way to obivious and these people aren't that fucking stupid. They know how to dog whistle.

Re: Eurovision
Just to add to my reasoning and hopefully dig me out of a hole with RootsRadical, if the UK had been in that head-to-head with Israel, the crowd would all be cheering UK! UK! as an anti -Israel stance but NOT an anti-Jew stance, then Roots wouldn't have felt so uncomfortable because it wouldn't have involved Austria.

You wouldn't suggest a man from London not get upset about grooming gangs because he's not a woman from Rochdale etc...
It's not antisemitism, I can see the awkward connection between the events but Hamas isn't Austrian, it was an unfortunate and uncomfortable coincidence. My main point is that if there was any will among the officials to avoid an Israeli victory, that would be because of the military acts being committed by Israel, the country, and nothing to do with her religion. Roots made it about himself as well, but the crowd cheering on Austria may well have had a political motivation for cheering anyone but Israel, and that's nothing to do with her religion at all.

The Juries were clearly biased and made sure Israel didn't win.
Not once was it mentioned that the Israeli singer was a survivor from Oct 7th who hid under her friends dead bodies playing dead for 8 hours, singing a song about a new day & hope.
Even Graham Norton sounded gutted she might win, and the presenters looked well pissed off.
The Austrian song that won was one of the worst IMHO. Lots of better songs than that including the UK entry.
So, if I can work out what's gone on from a headline why aren't the millions that watched that shit speaking out?
Got to wait for the after parties to end, sleep off the hangovers, tidy up etc

Re: Eurovision
As a Jew? She was part of an attack against Israel, it wasn't something that could threaten you due to being Jewish, unless you happen to be Israeli as well? It's not about you at all and feeling uncomfortable about it makes you sound like a Scouser.
But taking your victimisation of yourself out of it, I can't disagree that they all looked and sounded concerned about Israel winning in the face of worldwide condemnation, especially given that their reason for banning Russia isn't anything to do with actual Russian state acts but that it would associate the competition with negativity and controversy so there's no way the judges would have scored it highly. The populist vote running it so close would have associated all the protagonists of the story, like the presenters and even that prick Norton whose nation east even in the competition, with the most controversial Eurovision finals ever, eclipsing the time a bearded geezer in a dress won it.
But that's to do with the negativity associated with Israel, the country, bombing Palestine England masse in the hope of wiping out Hamas. That's not to do with the fact that it was sung by a Jewish woman.

Knew it would be fixed, Israel had the best song & got the biggest public vote in history, but the juries made sure they wouldn't win.
Echos of 2nd world war Europe.
Really? Holy fucking shitballs!
I didn't watch that shite just worked out what had happened from a headline about Austria beating Isreal in nailbiting finish.

Re: Eurovision
I had Austria down for second due to the warbling being quite similar to last year's victor.
I have remarkably different taste to you because whilst I agree the German song is a good'un, I'm still perplexed that Ukraine and Luxembourg were even in it compared to the failures of Ireland and Australia which were both better by any metric.
Ukraine obviously get in on misplaced pity but Lithuania was the dreariest song to make a final in quite some time in my opinion. If you are some kind of music ITK then I'll be to your insight but I can't see the good in that song at all.

It's shit and that shit country should be banned just like fucking RussiaNo,neither should be banned. They say no politics in the contest then ban a country for taking its own land back and don't ban a country bombing fuck out of their neighbours.Ban a country for taking its own land back......?
Wtf Gank, are you high?
You might want to read up on your history, mate. Not on your online bollocks, you'll need actual news sources. Have a look at the Alley of Angels and why the so-called "war" that nobody ever declared has been going on since 2014.
Or just watch BBC news and decide Russia are an entire, and huge, nation of gullible bullies. But if you do that, don't come on here preaching to the learned.
